I've been on a binge all day watching your videos. Soo much to do.. so little money. Lol I just got my Jeep a couple of weeks ago & I'm so excited to make some adjustments to it. I think this will be one of the first to do. I love red but I want it to be different. So we'll see what other colors they got. So glad I came across your channel.

I saw these vent covers in several of your videos and I they were done so well I spent a week trying to find where you bought them before seeing this video lmao. I really want to do this but I can't quite bring myself to paint the inside of a $45,000 recon. I might buy some OEM replacement vents and paint them so If I screw up I can just keep my factory ones installed. Great videos by the way.

Hey dex nice work man...I got red Jeep Wrangler sports...and I wanted to paint the interior...what colour suitable for the interior trims in your opinion? I was thinking red colour just to match my exterior colour..any advice on what colour looks good?

"It's not like the door handle or anything..." (camera pointing RIGHT AT the painted door handle). That was funny. Amazing job, dude. Looks factory. Much props.
Be very careful if you choose to do this. The inner tabs on the dash mounted AC vents are a hard brittle plastic; and they can get stuck in the up position. I was able to get 3 of the 4 vents off. The 4th vent got stuck half on and would not come out or go back in....Also the clips that hold the inlays on the dash passenger handle and doors are very brittle and they snap. Removing these parts is at your own risk and peril...my JK is a 2013 by the way.
opyer Thanks for your comment. Any work that you perform on your own Jeep is always at your own risk and I am simply here to demonstrate what I am doing to my Jeep and how I did it. Your are 100% correct in saying when handling plastic parts use caution because they will break if you use force. However, if you follow the instructions for disassembly and take your time, you should have no problem removing the trim and painting them just like I did. Thanks for watching!

Question on this- I was at Walmart looking for some spray paint but someone brought up a good point. What if I melt/chip the vents bc I blast the heater? Has yours chipped? Thank you!
Thank for sharing! That is a good point, Its never cold enough here to put on the heater but if you get a paint that is resistant to heat you should be alright! Thanks for watching!

I've been wanting to do mine forever but I've heard that the paint will start to chip using the heater (& I blast my heater everyday) What do you recommend for me?
+Nick Mossey Thanks for the question bro! Yes, those nuts are fake they do not do anything but add a cosmetic touch to the plastic trim. It simply pops out if you give it a gentle tug and you can screw the nuts out so they do not get painted too. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the comment! Nicole Batres To my knowledge the trim comes off similar to the 2012 and up JK. Most of the trim is just clipped in so you need to be careful not to break the plastic and the a/c vents should release using a screwdriver...see video for demonstration. Your best bet is to call a local Jeep shop and ask for advice! Hope that helps, Thanks for watching!
Hey Dex! I did the vents and the trim on my 2012 JKU as well, but I was wondering if you thought about doing the steering trim on the steering wheel. I want to do mine but I can't seem to find any clear tutorials on it. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
+Rex Huffman Hey! Thanks for the comment! Someone also asked me about this before. How the interior looks I feel if I sprayed the steering wheel as well it would start to look cheesy! I have seen it done before so I know it is possible but I haven't had any experience with taking apart the steering wheel. I also know that there is an airbag inside it (Obviously lol) and along with that are a lot of sensors that I really didn't want to mess with. If you are still inclined on painting it, I say do it bro! Your best bet is to look up the Mopar installation diagram and use that as a guideline for disassembly. Hope this helps! +AdventureDex I went ahead and took it apart last night and painted it to match the body. It turned out REALLY good and IMO added some balance to the front because of the grab bar being painted to match. It really wasn't as hard as I expected but I went really slow with the disassembly like i was diffusing a bomb or something. 12 different bolts/screws that required 3 different tools. I finished it all including the reassembly and the paint in just under 3 hours.

I had the same problem with my 10JK when I did this. I scuffed up the plastic with some coarse sand paper. Then, set up all four vents and use very short bursts of spray paint to get the initial coating. It was time consuming but well worth it.
Hiii! So I have a white jeep just like this, and want to do my accents pink!! 😁 for those nuts on the door panels, Is it that torx attachment also or what number/size thing do I need?? Thanks!!
Catarina Jacob Sanchez Thanks for your comment! The accents on the doors and above the glove box are simply held in with clips which you can just pop out. The silver nuts are fake accents which I recommend to remove before painting. You can do this with a large flat head screw driver. It is not a torx. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
+David Bey Thanks for the comment David! I used regular Kyrlon spray paint which i got at a local paint shop. I also got a clear coat to seal it. I sprayed 3 to 4 light coats making sure that I didnt overspray which would ruin the finish. After the paint dried I did 2 light coats of clear and let it dry! Thanks for watching!
