Love the dry flower ornaments, but Ohh... that tree!!!!!

They're looking great! And could be marketed for valentine's day, with some heart Confetti. And even for Easter, like an Easter or spring wreath especially with the yellow. Easter centerpieces would be great with dried flowers too.

I think they could be an all year thing too, not overly christmasy

Great that you can work on them in the winter months. You can buy ornaments post holiday on super clearance. I would add a ribbon to dress them up. I’d also get stickers with the farm name and add to the flat ones. You could sell to your subscribers as merch. Do a launch in November and one big mailing. I love the Easter egg center pieces too.

@@YouCantEatTheGrass I love these ornaments. I first saw them on Little Mountain Ranch. I usually make my family annual Christmas ornaments but would love to buy 8 for next year for something different and beautiful. Would you be interested in selling them? Love your videos!

I love the floral Christmas Tree behind you. I think you should take a vote among your viewers to see how many would like to keep it up all year round or take it down after the holidays. I vote keep it up all year round. It is a very cheerful tree.

They look lovely! So unusual and very romantic. Dried herbs like rosemary, thyme, lavender stems would look great as greenery. It would be fun to play the shapes and textures off each other; like round straw flowers and spiky rosemary stems, etc.

That Christmas tree in the back with the dried flowers is the prettiest tree ever, you should try gluing dried flowers on those small cone shaped trees that they have in craft shops or make cones out of poster board to sell for next season.

Love your ornaments, Serina. They’re very nice. I think you’ve hit on something that will be a huge seller for you. Especially like the ones with eucalyptus. Kudos to Lia….she’s got a good eye for design. Perhaps if you got some of the small suction cups with hooks you could market them all year to hang on mirrors or in windows ( might fade if too sunny). A wooden skewer might help you maneuver things around inside the ornament instead of your finger. May even be able to hold something to one side and slip flower in next to it through the opening. You could also make potpourri…use up your scraps and broken bits…just keep your colors separate when you clean up and toss them into jars. Add some whole flowers, rose hips, pods, etc. when you put it together. You would just need some orris root to hold the scent (a variety of yellow iris) and some essential oils. Might even be able to make some rose, lavender, eucalyptus, or other oils yourself. I think Lia might enjoy pulling petals and popping them into jars and making something that smells really nice. Good to see you looking so much better.

Thanks for letting us know where you got empty balls, going to try this. I love that gorgeous tree for a video background. I'm visualizing my favorite color pallette of purples, pinks, blues and lime or chartreuse greens for a tree with larkspur, blue statice, lime zinnias or hydrangeas, etc., and even adding some of the flower balls with white flowers inside (or other special ones). So many cool ideas for the tree, thanks for the idea and tutorial!!

@YouCantEatTheGrass

I don't have much footage. But one of the big tips is to make sure that you have really dry conditions - humidity can cause them to fade or not dry very bright. We are lucky because its crazy dry here, but others use dehumidifiers

@familyplans3788
@familyplans3788 2 года назад
i know nothing about flowers , i mean NOTHING , but could you grow a single flower in those ? i mean when its a bud you place the ball over it so the flower grows inside and then you cut it and dry it , people will wonder how you got the flower in there , obviously you will have to stop the ball filling up with water but just an idea like i said i dont even know if its possible
@YouCantEatTheGrass
@YouCantEatTheGrass 2 года назад
I could see being able to grow 1 inside the ball, but I think it would dry very poorly because of the lack of air flow - it would be nice for a few days, then just turn to slime unfortunately

Maybe you could add a shop to your website. I think these ornaments would be great as well as your bouquets although shipping in the US is getting very expensive. Not sure how it is there but it might be another revenue stream to sell them online.

These are amazing! I really hope they take off as an income stream for you. Like others, I think there could be a market for year-round. You could do green/lime for St. Patrick's Day, Red/White/Blue for American Independence Day, orange and brown for Halloween or Thanksgiving... I wonder if you could even put together a "whole tree" kit for different size trees and sell dozens of them at a time. Just wait till some magazine or website finds these and decides to feature them, and you could have a waiting list! (Can you tell I love to dream?) Anyway, RU-vid has recommended your videos to me a couple of times, and as of today I'm a subscriber. :)

Hi Serena & Ian, thanks so much for everything you share. It is wonderful and much appreciated. Especially from over here in frigid Qc! For the ornaments, I really struggle with the plastic...I totally get where you are coming from (business, $ etc.) all super valid, and these are not a one-time use product, but anything that puts more plastic into the environment fills me with dread. I am just starting out on my flower farm journey (small backyard scale for now) and I am really trying to focus on the goal of beautiful, profitable and as close to zero impact on the environment as possible. For example, my Xmas wreaths are 100% compostable (no metal, no plastic, no elastic). It's not easy, and you totally deserve to earn a decent living for your family. I am just wondering how this factors into your decisions regarding the farm, products etc? Happy and safe holidays! :-)
