Thanks for posting. I ordered a soft cone for my pup and it hadn't arrived yet so this video was helpful in preventing her from scratching her wounds ❤️
thank you so much i am from India i could not find it anywhere not even online thanks my boy got hurt in accident and lost his leg we tried everything but every time wound close to healing he reopen his wound again and sorry for my bad English and you got subscriber thanks again
My dog got a hotspot hind his ear and he needs to be e collared. I find this DIY tutor is helpful, so easy and very useful. This is the cheapest alternative. Thanks
thank you so much for this, a dog we rescued off the streets keeps getting hotspots, she is very old. And where she was before wasn't treated well at all. We made homemade hot spot solution but she is getting use to it. this is gonna help so much
Hi, Thanks from England. I got home and found my dog had ripped the inside of his ear and he made a right bloody mess (not swearing). Really glad your video came up first it was no non-sense quick and easy and worked perfectly. Thanks for taking the time to make it. Richard
This was awesome! I loved how you used a shoe string to secure it. I have Velcro strips that I'm going to try for April! Her incision site came open this morning from when she got fixed
Thank you very much. You would figure having owned a E-Collar in the past I would know how to make one. Nope I went ahead and tried the towel around the neck with leash watching other videos here on RU-vid. The towel collar no good. He took it off like nothing. I had to finally order one online and since it wont arrive until next week I need something quick. Your video saved the day. You are a true genius.
My boy is losing all of his fur due to stress and a food allergy and keeps chewing. I just started a new job but don't have the money for a plastic collar yet so this is exactly what I needed and covering it in duct tape should make it pretty durable for a while while he gets better. Thank you for helping me!!!
Thanks for this! This really really helps me because i am in the very far flung mountain and that the market is very far from here where i can buy the e collar. I dont have yet budget to go down town and this video really help! Kinda depressed Lately because i am not in the civilized area where needed tools and medicine were available in the vicinity. Luckily i have some antiseptic povidone iodine where i can treat my dog's hot spot but i dont have e collar where i can control my dog's licking and biting on its skin.luckily i bumbed into this video as i was searching online for home remedies. Thanks and Godbless! :)
Thanks for the video I don't have the money to get one right now so I thought just made someone made a video on how to make one yours was the best one I found :)
Thank you very much, this was really helpful... My little cat just went out of surgery and I'm going to try your technique. Seriously, thank you for sharing. :)
You're a lifesaver. I searched a lot to buy one for my cat who is going to get spayed soon. We both are Indians, and I couldn't find one good collar. Thanks a lot for helping me make a custom collar, tailor made for her. :D
Thank you! Grand puppy 6 months and all of 70 lbs was neutered last week and his E-collar was hanging in bits from his neck the next morning, thank goodness for duct tape, but I am so glad I learned to make my own in an emergency.
PetPrepper : Necessity is the mother of invention. :) I am glad that you shared it for everyone. I am sure more and more people are going to find it useful.
Thank you, had watched like 5 other videos in Spanish and measures weren't at all clear...so I said let's see one in English and got a really nice cone, greetings fron Uruguay
Thanks for the video. I can't tell you how many times this would have come in handy last winter. Our Lab/Rottie Mix has hip problems exacerbated by the cold and he wanted to chew his back end. I think I'm going to look for some plastic and try to make one from that. Again, thank you.
you are more than welcome. This was a learning experience for me as well. I had made them in the past, but they would fall apart right away. I finally took some time to make one the right way
Thank you! I noticed some sores around my dog's nose and didn't have a proper cone of shame around, but it was too late to go get one. He gets allergies around this time of year, and we recently moved (and his meds weren't working). Just needed something that would last the night.
I think this is a creative idea however, I have a dog that needs to wear one when I am not home because he constantly digs at his ears, face and eyes and my vet and I feel its best at this time to use a cone on him. He would ruin this cardboard cone in one night. I buy the hard plastic ones from my vet for $13. Each one gets wrapped in electrical tape around the loops the collar goes through because his nails sheer the hard plastic when he scratches over the cone. Each lasts me a couple months.
Love that stringing the collar through it idea! I actually have an e-collar that I bought at Petsmart. The problem is that my baby has a barrel of a neck and so it was enormous and too difficult to keep on. I never even thought about stringing a collar through it and we have a bazillion zip-ties, so that'll be how I do it next time. I am making a serious note here for future use! I am SO enjoying your videos!
Thanks for the video. Fido started scratching his ears raw, so I just made him a 'cone of shame'. He has an ear infection, which is being treated, but its still so itchy. thanks again
Thank you for this video! My 12-pound Chihuahua mix won't stop eating the small pin oak acorns in the back yard so I'm hoping this will stop her if I make it longer than her snout. She will only need it while we're outside.
hi , thanks for video really it was useful i live in a little village in iran so there isnt any shop here and if i oreder it in internet it would take lots of time , you saved my dog's eye . thanks alot
Forough Jalilian I thank you! This is what this video was all about! I wanted to save people money and help people if they weren't able to get to a vet.
oh thanks so much! my dogs a medium mongrel and between sizes, so this is perfect! he had an abcess and now has a drain on his ear, now we can sleep in peace without him scaring us trying to get it out!
Might I suggest applying some of those sticky velcro strips right where you drew the line. that way it can be easily wrapped around and secured quickly without having to use the loops to attach to the collar.
Thank you for this tutorial. I would coat the entire cone in duct tape to make it water proof, therefore reusable in the future. Dogs are slobbery, as are cats when navigating water dishes and attempting to lick while wearing the cone, so this will allow you to wipe it clean and store it for the future. . Along that same train of thought, you could also make an entire cone out of duct tape. You could start with a paper or cloth template, cover both sides, cut to shape and finish the edges with more tape. You could make it adjustable by punching a series of holes that you could lace shut at whatever size is needed, then tie the last 2 or 3 holes off with heavy duty elastic if you were worried about neck safety, or use the 2 finger method to properly tie it off with the same lacing. Just a few thoughts as I research how to clean my Kong brand flexible cat cone that I have had to Gorilla tape because the material had worn away where my cat had scratched at her neck. The second cat to wear this blue material cone has an abscessed tooth, but was wearing it due to an injury under his eye. His breath is terrible and the drool and food that has stained the cone has left it smelling awful! I can not submerge the material due to the tape, and of course I do not want to coat the odor with useless and toxic products like Fabreeze. If you have any suggestions on how to neutralize the cone, please let me know. I know that this is completely off topic but industrious people tend to have the best ideas. Thank you for sharing your video!
LOL to all of it, but I would love to see pix of your dog. Gonna go see if you have videos as I type. Thank you so much and man oh man aren't they great dogs? He makes me laugh EVERY day!
Well geee, like I said I had the vinyl, I didn't use rolls upon rolls of tape, but have rolls upon rolls stored, and plates upon plates stored, not sure why your plastic milk cartons become brittle that fast, but I have a bunch of them that haven't become brittle at all in over a year and a half, there is this really cool thing called solar power!!!! You should check it out or better yet just poke holes in the stupid cardboard with a screw driver. Thanks for the comment and good luck!
Awww at 9:00 your dog is like " Awww mom why you do this to me?" Lol genius by the way!! I really needed this tutorial! My dog has a cracked paw and is limping around.. Any suggestions!!!!???? It's her back paw and she keeps biting it too! I'm gonna try this e-collar and wrapping the paw but I'm no professional so I can use the advice!
omg thank you so much for this. Henry has food allergies and has scratched his ear bloody and now hes only scratching cause of the ear and it just wont heal its driving me nuts my poor boy. We switched his food
great video I love you videos before I found them I worried about our furry friends. I now feel allot better about being able to help them. Please keep the great videos
Thank you first of all and I hope your dogs foot heals. Clean it well, treat it and go watch my dog making video. The vet clinic I work for buys single boots from me for exactly the reason you talked about. Thanks again
