whoever BMW sourced as their gasket vendor should be FIRED. All the gaskets are garbage.

How is it that bmw can build a state-of-the-art engine and fail with the f*king rubber gasket?

People if your going to do this job on your own don’t remove the or “loosen up” the intake , that’s just asking for another issue.. Instead order a 1/4” swivel type E10 socket.. as well as a E10 ratchet wrench 🔧 Amazon specials for this job add it to your BMW. “ 🤦🏼Specialty tools bag “. Of course could t just use normal style bolts everywhere , I mean Christ BMW you used 11mm bolts on the intake yet you decide to use Torx style E10 for random bolts here and there. Just another To many “engineers” on 1 car all in different rooms design FAIL !! These BMWS really are more crap 💩 then they are 🏆 good!!

You DO NOT have to remove the intake manifold or even move it out of the way all you need is a swivel head to access the bolt. Also if you remove the other coolant hose on the right hand side it will allow you to clean the housing mating surfaces away from the car. This makes it easier instead of trying to do it all while tugging on the hose thats still connected to the housing.
@simplelangperorock

1/4 swivel socket works fine. Magnetic would be the best. Or if you have skinny fingers like I do, it will be doable. Good comment. But this dude is one of my favorite mechanics. he works by the book and has lots of knowledge in the cars 🚙 . Keep wrenching man.

Nice diy I don’t think you have to loosen the intake manifold you can actually use a e wench to access that hard to reach bolt , little room to swing the wrench but lot less time to do it without swivel socket etc.🇨🇦

Yes I just used a 3/8 ratchet with a 1/4" wobble joint using a reducer just be careful
@anthonygillesse7242

You can access the bolt under the manifold with an 8mm ratchet wrench from the top without removing the manifold. In this video I didn’t see this gentleman replace the manifold gaskets which is required everything else was done properly.This is coming from a certified BMW tech

Looks like pretty easy job for someone like you to do it. You could offer to replace it at a discount. You probably can do 3 cars in a day easy. It is a common issue and it is a big hassle to have to leave the car at the dealer for a quick job like this.

You can't use magnet on aluminum bolts. Because they deform under torque, you must replace them or risk breaking after reuse. Intake doesn't need removal if you use E socket with built in swivel. Replace the plastic coolant barb with inexpensive aftermarket aluminum. FCP Euro sells one with coolant hose already attached. Plastic barb will crack with age anyways, and the Oring inside it will be worn and torn during removal. Do NOT use OEM aka Elring gaskets, they are the ones leaking at 60k miles. Use other brands that are not junk brands for longer lasting results.
@BrixChris
@BrixChris 11 месяцев назад
My guy, The FCPeuro kit is using an Elring gasket and received 5-star reviews. The only other option is a genuine BMW. Is that what you're recommending? I'm in the process of replacing mine. TIA
@Soravia

@@BrixChris 5 stars after how many miles? It fits because it is OE. But how long before it leaks again? Elring and OE are one and the same. Get Victor Reinz or Felpro.

Yep that’s a true BMW owners request/statement if I’ve ever heard 1 🤦🏼😂!! 3yrs old or not I had to. ? Well how’s the repair holding up ?? I bet you sold the problem child by knew tho huh?? These things become absolute piles of 💩 about 100k and most get fed up with rebuilding all the cheap plastic/rubber material / designed to fail parts and pieces that liter these shiny piles of 💩.. But Hats of to Fcp as they make it as ez as possible on their site when it’s time to do the thousands of $$ ordering… But this guy is doing these vids on top of traveling around as a job fixing these tricky piles of 💩 and then showing / giving any viewers “a free lesson” we can’t be greedy now and expect another lengthy step to a already lengthy vid process now!! He has to leave some fun for the BMW Diy’er now doesn’t he ??
