I love love this lotion,it's been my favorite for 3 years. My daughter used it and said Mom you nailed it. Thank you so much for all your knowledge, kindness and sharing,I appreciate you more than you know.
I want to say I watched this video over 6 times and was finally able to make a batch this weekend I did al the research and used jojoba and almond oil and the rest I use what you did for hard butter and it turned out fantastic! I was so impressed with it that in comparison to a store bought product this beats it hands down for creaminess and luxury feel when I rub in my hands. And it and fast without a greasy feel. Absolutely loved it and cannot wait to make a different batch with another scent now.
Thank you so much for the recipe. I made this today & love it. I cut the recipe in half since it’s just me using it. & it still made 2 of the 6 oz jars. Many many thanks
I have been searching and searching for a great moderately heavy creamy body lotion recipe and instructions! This will be my first time making lotion. I have made several body butters, but wanted a lotion that sinks into the skin a little better. Thank you thank you thank you for this recipe! I am so excited to try this. Will be using a little bit of lanolin, kukui butter, meadowfoam oil, primrose oil... and who knows what else yet… aiming for lots of luxury! We are going into winter and my skin is always very very dry. And this is for me personally, I do not sell, but I will absolutely use a preservative! Thank you so much Ellen, I so admire you!
I love and learn from every single video you bring to us!! I am definitely making this. I have everything I need right here. Now just to find the time to make this. Ill make a fall scented. Thank you for everything you do!!
I absolutely love watching your videos Ellen, you make really wonderful soaps so full of nourishing things for your skin. I love your cream recipes. I make different types of creams, soaps and candles to sell in my community. I live in Trinidad and Tobago.
Another recipe I am going to make. All your natural products, I really love. You are the Best..I cannot get enough of your ideas and information. As always you are worth your weight in Gold plus more...:)
I've commented before but just today came back to this one and made some more. It is still a WINNER, my favorite so far after trying a bunch of different recipes/formulations. Thanks again, Ellen!
Excellent. Love the additives of the colloidal oats and coconut milk powder. Thank you so much! This recipe has wonderful ingredients. I love your stainless counters and that huge sink. Love your entire studio - are you in a basement? I have a large basement, but it's not finished.
Thank you Ellen Ruth,I just made this but with adaptations, I used beeswax. It's a great recipe. It's very kind that you shared your recipe.Greetings from the UK and Merry Christmas. I'm giving pots of the cream to my family and friends as Christmas gifts.🌲🌲🌲xx
Hi Ellen, I love your videos, your work and your kind character. Excellent recipe! And all the recommendations you make to us and of course it is your recipe and you share it with the best intention and it is appreciated in that way.
Omg!!!! Ellen you are simply a beautiful Lady! If I Lived Close I would take you out to a nice Lunch!! Thank you so much for all your amazing recipes! You are the sweetest Hugs, Love, Blessings!
Hi Ellen, just finished making this lotion. OMGoodness!! It is wonderful and not greasy. The only issue I had was calculating the preservative that I used (not great at math) so my hubby did it for me. 😆. Thanks for the recipe.
Hello Ellen, I have been following you for a few years now and I ADORE you and your teaching style. I have learned so much from you and some of your recipe bases are my favorites to work with. I learned to soap with help from you. Thank you!
Hi Ellen I tried your Lotion Bars and my family loves them. Thank you for sharing. Now I am going to try this CREAM POT Body Butter Lotion. I love the products you come up with. I added Colloidal Oats in my cold process soap and WOW I love it. I wanted to Thank you for sharing your recipes. You are a blessing.
I like watching your videos while I'm at work! 😃 I even re-watch videos, especially for the soaps I'm planning on purchasing, or whatever videos don't have a lot of views 💓 Glad to see your channel is growing Ellen! Excited for my 2nd order!!
thank u so much for this video! it’s by far the easiest water/oil combined cream video and recipe i have watched and followed and my cream has turned out so so beautifully!
I finally tried this lotion….. it came out BEAUTIFUL!!!! Made some changes with the oils and added essential oils too!! I LOVE IT!! I’m going to try infused oils next…. Thank you for your awesome videos!
Waiting for mine to thicken. It’s the first of this type I’ve made. I was confused when it said cups esp when coming to emulsifying wax because I wanted to do measure out 8oinces then realized it would have been a ton. Hope all is not wasted
Hi Ellen I have tried making lotions before but was never that happy with the result. I just tried your recipe (and added a few extra additives) and it turned out beautifully. Thank you SO much! I was dancing around like a little kid when it started to thicken lol Thanks so much for your videos..I love watching them! :) ~ Michele
Oh my goodness, I just found this video. Ellen-I love these ingredients. Super excited to make this tomorrow! I may be late to the party on this one but I’m dancing right now. Thank you!
I made it today with my daughter and it’s awesome! Beautiful color and texture. One major problem...she took it all home with her! 😜 Thank you Ellen for a fun project with my daughter and a great overall product!
I love your videos! Both my mom and I watch them and talk about them all the time. We have a made a few of your recipes and have enjoyed every one. We wanted to watch the other lotion video that you mentioned for the pump bottle but for some reason the video will not work. Hope to be able to watch it soon. Thank you for everything!
We have sugared peaches FO. It slightly discolored the soap. I used it in a bathbombs. Will try this in my whipped body butter or emulsified Sugar scrubs…
Thank you Ellen, for doing the research & sharing/us! I'm really a fan of body butter, something that absorbs into to your skin very easily. I think a little grapeseed oil would great for a light absorbing moisturizer. Love you!
@@nancykelly9712 i commented on the wrong video. Lol. The previous video was about lotion bars and then moved on to this video before I posted my comment.
Hi Ellen! I started using your pump lotion recipe while I was pregnant and I even used it on my newborn. I absolutely love it! I can’t find that video anymore. The video you have in your description box says it’s a private video. How can I see it again?
Yes, there was a problem with the music in the video and I had to take it down. Here is the recipe: Basic Lotion Recipe: Sterilize all surfaces and tools before making lotion! 1/2 C Emulsifying Wax 1/2 C liquid oils (for example - Olive, Almond, Walnut, Avocado...) Several drops Vit. E oil 2 1/2 C Boiling Water (can replace 1/2 C with Veg. Glycerin) 1 T Fragrance or Essential oil Preservative of choice ( using recommended amount per volume)
I’m not new to soaping but I have never attempted to make my own lotion. I was wondering why you use both stearic acid and emulsifying wax... aren’t they the same thing? When I look up the description it says stearic acid is an emulsifying wax made from palm oil, like emulsifying wax. I absolutely love your channel and have binged watched so many of your videos. Love your laugh and energy ❤️
@@EllenRuthSoap Thank you so much for answering. I went ahead and ordered it because you use both. I love your channel by the way. You’ve motivated me to start soaping again ❤️ so thank you 😘
HI ELLEN RUTH I ALWAYS LOVE TO WATCH YOUR VIDEO I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW DO I FIGURE OUT HOW MUCH PRESERVATIVE I HAVE TO USE IN LOTION OR BODY CREAM I'LL APPRECIATE IF YOU COULD DO A VIDEO ON THIS THANK YOU SO MUCH I HAVE LEARN ALOT FROM UOU
Hi Ellen! I love your recipes so much! Thanks for sharing all your loving knowledge 🙂I was wondering where you source your jars from for this particular recipe and/ or your other recipe. Also, do you need a business license to by from the wholesale soap company you mention? Thank you sooooo much!
Thanks! You could bump up the stearic acid a bit for a much firmer finish.... But for more whip, you'd need to fluff it with more air, so literally whip it double, if it starts to warm up from friction, put it in the fridge, then whip some more...😉
So beautiful. Thank you for your kindness. One question, did you mix the fragrance with the preservative together before incorporating them to the cream?
I love watching and learning from your videos. I have gotten used to making my diy’s in grams. Do you know how many grams this totals? I am so excited to try it
Hello Ruth! Thank you 4 all the information you share with us! I appreciate it & I appreciate you. Quick question? Can I sub the coconut powder for another powder?
Hi Ruth, thank you for sharing your recipe, it looks amazing and can’t wait to try it out. With the preservative you use, what sort of shelf life do these lotions have and also do you store it in a refrigerator when done. I’ve read so many different things about preservatives I’m a little confused?
Thanks! Enjoy it! I would go with the manufacturers recommendations of shelf life. I use mine up so fast, I never worry about it. And I don't refrigerate mine😉
As I mentioned before, this is a really wonderful cream. My question is, how do you figure out the entire VOLUME (all the ingredients) so you can calculate the preservative? And how do you make a larger recipe? Can you just double up the ingredients?
Hello Ellen, I love your Videos ❤️ Thank you for given the recipe. I’m wondering is I can replace the Aloe Vera juice with Sea Moss? I’m have been looking for a Sea Moss body cream/body butter recipe.
Thanks! I've not worked with Sea Moss, but have been reading about how wonderful it is. Cory over at Sunshine Soap & Candle has a sea moss lotion video you might want to check out.
Thank you for sharing. I am new to making lotion and body butters. I am allergic to aloe vera, what can i substitute in this recipe? would liquid glycerin work?
You can use pure water instead of aloe, glycerin would not be a good sub, it would make the lotion tacky feeling. You can use a small portion of the liquid in glycerin, but not too much...
Hello Ellen!! I have a question, can I add some Rose Clay to this body Butter recipe? Would it preserve well or could spoil it? Thank you in advance!! I’m so happy I subscribed to your channel, so every single new video of you pops up in my news! Xoxox
Hi Ellen, you make this seem so easy 🤪🤪 How would I add goats milk to this recipe ?? I am experimenting and been very adventurous. My kids suffer from eczema so I though this might help 🙂
I've not added milk to lotion, so I can't really speak to that.. Milk powders might work, but I'm still concerned about the shelf stability of that...?
Hi, I love your informative video. I make natural products, so I am always looking for 100% natural ingredients. The preservative that you put in your product, is it natural and safe? I noticed you used Colloidal oats in your lotion. What would be a substitute that is good for the skin in place of the Colloidal Oats? Do you have any suggestions? Thank you
Thanks! There are several different kind of preservatives, you'll need to research and see which one you like best. You don't need to put the oats in, I just like them. Arrowroot is a good sub.
Can you please tell me if a batch of hard lotion bars can be remelted and repoured in different molds? Do l loose the goodness of the oils? Thank you, love your products.
Hola Ellen, gracias por compartir 🤗, acabo de hacer esta receta pero me ha quedado muy líquida, imposible usar manga pastelera, he usado cera protelan, qué cera emulsiona te usas tu? Gracias. 😘🌼
Thanks for watching. Colloidal oats are made with the whole oat grain, including the germ, they are pulverized/ground into a super fine powder. You don't have to use it, I just like how they are on the skin.
