First, I love this project!!! But I also love it because my 2 year old daughter was really grumpy this morning, but watching this totally cheered her up! She loves fabric already so she was 'ooh-ing' and 'ah-ing' at the pretty colors. Definitely planning to do this with my Christmas stash :) Thanks!!

Nice! I like your fabric garland! Just a note on the paper garlands, though. I made one with narrower width and shorter length strips out of Christmas wrapping paper of various colors just for fun one year. I put it on a ficus tree I had. It was lightweight so it didn't harm the tree. Later, for storage, I gave it its own box to prevent crushing of the loops. This year, I draped it on the mantle, and I love the simplicity of it and the cheerful colors from the wrapping paper. I love DIY Christmas projects! I might try your (from your other video) Mod Podging the fabric on the clear ornament also with added glitter. I always seem to have scraps of fabric! Thank you!
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 5 лет назад
Such a great idea to store your paper garland in a separate box to keep it from getting crushed or torn. We're finding it's the simple, handmade decorations we like the best! The Mod Podge Ornament is one of our favorites because we also never run out of scraps! ;) Have you seen the 3-D paper snowflake video too? That adds such a fun touch to winter/holiday decor. - Morgan

I noticed you put the the fusable on both fabrics, was that just for the extra stiffness or would the heat n' bond not bond the two firmly enough with just one side? AWESOME project! Thank you :)
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 4 года назад
Thank you for watching! Yes, it was for extra stiffness so it held its shape and stored better, but you could try it with just one and see if you prefer that. - Morgan

Absolutely love this idea! Could knit fabric be used as well since it is being stabilized? I think using the scraps from everything I have made through the year, including apparel would look really cute on my tree.

If glue gets on the iron use a fresh dryer sheet on a hot iron. Fold the dryer sheet several times and rub it on the glue of the hot iron. Be careful it's very hot. Glue comes right off.
@patricialane7475
@patricialane7475 9 лет назад
is the second piece of heat n bond necessary? couldn't you put heat n bond on one piece of fabric, trim, peel the backing, then adhere the backing fabric? or do you need the two layers of heat n bond for stiffness?
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 9 лет назад
You are right Patricia Lane, you need the second layer to add stiffness. It really makes a big difference!
@myyprecious1
@myyprecious1 6 лет назад
Patricia Lane .. You are correct you only need one sheet of Heat & Bond to connect 2 fabrics.. so the 2nd sheet unnecessary, but I agree that it does help with the sections being stiffer.

To save product, can’t you just put it on one side and still fuse both together? Or is there a reason to have it on both pieces of fabric?

You could give that a try! We added extra to add stability to the project, but it's up to you. - Morgan

How many strips can you cut from a fat quarter? Thanks.
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 4 года назад
You can cut 11 strips, and then subcut each of those strips into 3 (you need 1.5" x 7" pieces for the garland. A FQ will give you eleven 1.5" x 21" strips). So you'll get a total of 33 per FQ. - Morgan
