This simple DIY calendula infused Healing Foot Balm Stick is ideal for dry, cracked heels! I’ll walk you through how to infuse your dried calendula flowers into coconut oil (the quick and easy way in a crock pot!) I’ve added a few essential oils to create a recipe that works to quickly repair damaged skin. I like to use an up-cycled deodorant container for an easy to apply balm!

IN THE VIDEO: I am using a little less than one ounce of each ingredient for my size container and 36 drops total essential oils.
You’ll need:
- Approx. 1 ounce beeswax
- Approx. 1 ounce shea butter
- Approx. 1 ounce calendula infused coconut oil*
- 12 drops Eucalyptus essential oil
- 12 drops Lavender essential oil
- 12 drops Tea Tree essential oil
- a few drops of Vitamin E oil (optional)
- an empty deodorant container (I cleaned one out, but you can buy them empty.)
Instructions:
Place beeswax in a double boiler OR a small heatproof bowl on top of a saucepan with an inch or two of water. Heat on the stove at medium-low.
And infused calendula oil and stir to combine and melt completely.
Remove from heat and add essential oils and vitamin E (if using). Stir together.
Pour mixture into a clean, dry deodorant stick container and allow it to cool completely. (For a faster set, place the uncovered container in the refrigerator.)
*To infuse dried calendula into coconut oil (or other carrier oil)
You’ll need:
Dried calendula flowers
Coconut oil (melted) or other carrier oil of your choice
A clean, dry jar with lid
A small dish rag
Crockpot
Cheesecloth or coffee filters
A mesh strainer
Instructions:
Fill the jar about ¾ full with dried flowers, leaving room for them to expand as they soak.
Pour liquid carrier oil over herbs to cover completely. Leave at least an inch of headspace from the top of the jar. Secure the lid.
Line the bottom of a crock pot with a small dish rag and set the jar on top. Add water to the crock to surround the jar, filling to about the neck of the jar. Leave the lid of the crock-pot off!
Turn the crock-pot on WARM (or the lowest setting available) to bring the water temperature to about 100*F. Allow herbs to gently infuse overnight (or anywhere from 8-24 hours.)
Remove your jar from the warm bath and dry with a dish towel to prevent water from dripping into your oil.
Place a fine mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth or a coffee filter over a clean jar or bowl. Pour oil through the strainer and allow the oil to drip out, gently squeezing the cheesecloth/filter as necessary to extract the oil. Some sediment may still be in the oil. Strain again if desired.
Pour the herb-infused oil into a clean glass jar and allow to cool completely before sealing it with an airtight lid. Store in a cool dry place.
