This looks amazing thinking I will try this as I don’t care for the baking soda recipe I have tried in the past..both lemon and eucalyptus are anti viral as well as anti fungal so that should kill any of bad guys as well as odors...tea tree another great choice...I always pour into my containers in a liquid state and it works beautifully...many thanks for your time and thoughtfulness sharing with those who want natural alternatives...I have found when using coco butter it’s very hard to disguise it’s very prominent fragrance and I do love the smell in soaps but not under my arms...stay blessed sweet lady...
Ok but can I just say what we're all thinking? This woman seems absolutely lovely and you can not deny that she would make the best best friend that you would ever find
I tried making this recipe and I love it so far! The consistency is perfect, I only need one swipe and im done, and it lasts most of the day. It doesnt help much as an antiperspirant but im more concerned that i smell like delicious cocoa butter now rather than stank. I live in Florida so not stinking is rly important lol. This deodorant seriously feels like lip balm i can put on my underarms; it absorbs fast and doesnt leave any kind of residue under my arms. As for variations on your recipe: I used sunflower oil instead of vitamin E oil since shea butter is already high in vitamin E. I used rose, rosemary, lavender-tea tree, and lemongrass essential oils but the major fragrance ended up being the cocoa butter which i am more than fine with. Reducing the yield by half still yielded 2.5 sticks! As someone who has a sensitivity to baking soda, wants to avoid aluminum, and also is allergic to corn starch and propylene glycol, this recipe is perfect for me. THANK YOU for sharing your recipe!
phantomGender be thankful that you sweat even when wearing this natural deodorant. Our lymphatic system needs to drain daily to remove toxins from the body....keeps the lymph nodes clear. Women especially since we have lymph nodes right near the breast and things like alumin and wire bras will cause cancer long term.
Great video! I just wanted to say, that you can melt all the harder ingredients together, then add the powder and essential oils after taking it off the heat, and then just pour it into your containers(: It may be a bit easier.
Hi, thank you so much for this video! I love your style so much ❤️ I tried your recipe today but with baking soda as well and poured the mixture into the deodorant containers straight from the mixing bowl, while hot, without waiting for it to solidify. No mess at all, and it solidified in a few minutes and good to go. No need to spoon out or use icing bags.
A zip top bag. Fill the bag about half full, push your product to a bottom corner in the bag, but leave a small are so you can clip the very tip of the corner off. Fill the dispenser to the desired level. Enjoyed your video.
I love this one! I've been looking for a great and efficient DIY recipe w/o baking soda and tonight I found yours, so happy about that and to try this recipe, thanks so much! I'll get back to you as soon as I try it out! :) God bless!
Hi Shaneakia! I'm so glad you stopped by. Yeah, this is an easy recipe to deal with. You are so welcome. I hope it works for you. I'll be waiting to hear if you like it. God bless you! tfw ❣️
Looks easy to do. I will try this. Thank you for posting. Maybe , to put it inside the deodorant case use a pastry bag or ziplock bag and slit a small hole and squeeze in the casing. Great video.
That is an awesome idea. It's much neater to do the "ziploc bag" method. I hope you like it. Another great deodorant is the 3 ingredient recipe. It works like a charm. tfw
Hey Sha, excellent video....you could also put the containers in the freezer while you’re making the deodorant. When you pour the product in, it will automatically chill it and prevent leakage.
Sha-na-nah I try to make clean up and pour as easy an event as I can lol. Let me know how it works out for you the next time you make deodorant or another liquid to firm product. ❤️
I would pour it while it was liquid. I did make this and it's the best, no irritation at all, like all the other just irritated my arm pits. I didn't use any baking Soda but did add a little more Arrowroot powder to make it more solid.
I recently realized I have a baking soda burn from my first DIY deodorant. After reading extensively, I was sensitive to it. Will use your recipe for my next batch. But first I need to heal my tender pits.
Aww. I hate that. Especially since baking soda works so well on odors. I hope your sensitive armpits heal quickly. Let me know how you like the recipe. tfw
The Lion King!! 😂 lol.. 😮😏Wow.. You are a vision and hope of the Woman i seek to be for God and i can Genuinely see your passion to Help and Share your Gems of Wisdom with the 🌎.. We love you too!! Thank you so so VERY MUCH!! God is good!! 💗
I like this recipe the most so far. I adding benotate clay.. (sp check) lol . and will also search for a YT vid that shows how to make a pipette out of wax paper to toss after. Ty for posting.
Looks like a fab recipe, thank you for sharing. One thing I'd like to share with you. At the point where you let it sit for twenty minutes,....the consistency was good for pouring. Those containers are designed for your contents to be poured in. Enjoyed and subscribed, thank you.
Great video since quarantine started I stopped using deodorant and decided to make my own...but the baking soda gave me a bad allergy my poor arms were crying so I was like there got to be other styles and your video is very helpful thanks ❤
You can also try witch hazel and lemon juice 6 teaspoons or tablespoons of witch-hazel then four teaspoons or tablespoons depending on if you want a big batch of lemon juice and then put in some oil and put in a spray bottle and store in the fridge just found this recipe it is nice just use a couple times a day
I recently made my own deodorant and made a complete mess when trying to put the mix into the tube. My son suggested using a piping bag. If you don’t have one, a plastic bag with the corner cut out should do the trick.
Excellent video...another alternative to regular commercial store bought deodorant would be to use a lime...trust me it works and feels great with no irritation.
Thanks for sharing this! Have you thought about adding activated charcoal to your recipe? I'm going to make this and add it. I'm going to have to separate the mixture so I can add different essential ills to them. I think I'm going to add Mister to my husband's if he likes it.
I'm sorry that you had that experience, Cleo. Yeah this batch is firm enough to apply directly from the stick, but next time, I'll use 1 Tbsp more of the beeswax. Thanks for watching. Let me know how it goes. ❣️
Sha-na-nah I've been trying to transition to all natural deodorant for about a year now. And I've used about three or four different kinds of the store bought natural deodorants, but they still have about 32 ingredients. Anyway the first batch that I made on my own had 1/4 cup baking soda 1/4 cup arrowroot starch and 1/4 cup coconut oil. And then I added lavender and tea tree for its antimicrobial properties. Lo and behold my armpits turned red and funky and got a really weird odor. So I've done a bentonite clay armpit detox on two separate occasions and I think I finally deduced that I'm reacting to baking soda. I just bought all the supplies for this recipe. Cross your fingers!
If I don't have arrowroot powder what can I substitute. Also I thought you cold use a piping bag to put it in the deodorant container. I think you have a lovely voice, you the kinda of black African I'd like to be related to, your sister from West Africa.
I’ve been trying lots of recipes but as soon as I perspire I stink. 😩 I shower every day. But nothing works. Will this make the trick? I don’t want to go back to comercial deodorants. Could someone answer this please?
Hi Maria! Everyone is different. Some days I would perspire a lot, but have no odor. Some days, I would hardly perspire and did. Now, I don't blame it on the deodorant. During that time, my hormones were "changing". I love the deodorant as well as the spray deodorant on this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iU-F5w7Woy8.html
That is so interesting! The only thing I've heard neem oil being used for is pest control in the garden. I've got more learning to do! Did you like it? Thanks for sharing!
So I've made this recipe before and I tried it and when I put it on my skin it's just like rubbing coconut oil on my skin doesn't do anything it's oily so I need to figure out a way for it not to be oily so if you have any suggestions I'm all ears
I found a recipe that doesn't use coconut oil. It's on this link: beautymunsta.com/diy-deodorant-without-coconut-oil/ Now, I haven't tried it, but I don't see why coconut oil can't be eliminated in this recipe. Let me know how it goes. Also, check out my 3 ingredient deodorant spray recipe. It's the one I've been using for the past few months. Thanks for watching!
Hi win30034. I have exercised and gardened with it on with no problem. Mind you, it is not an antiperspirant, but it helps with the odor. thanks for watching!
Hi just want to say a big thank you for the deodorant recipe, it turned out great. I wish I knew how to put a photo up to show how they turned out., Donna from New Zealand
Hi Maitha. Thanks for watching!! I have tried a deodorant recipe without wax, but it will be much softer without the wax. The coconut oil tends to melt at higher temperatures. You could leave it in the fridge. That was an inconvenience for me. You could use it without arrowroot powder. The arrowroot powder helps a bit with perspiration. When I researched these recipes, I did see a substitute of cornstarch for arrowroot powder...same amount. I hope this helps! ❤️
Hi Zulema. It was arrowroot powder. I ordered mine from amazon. Here's the link: www.amazon.com/Starwest-Botanicals-Organic-Arrowroot-Powder/dp/B00ZDO82VM/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1504412380&sr=1-4&keywords=arrowroot%2Bpowder&th=1
I hate cooking much less mixing up deodorant. I found a new alternative. Lume deodorant, they have a youtube site too. all natural, no aluminum and no baking soda, i know that baking soda can irritate some people. and they have some kind of bunny award for not hurting animals. they list their ingredients and it was developed by a doctor, not a big company. less messy to order online too. it lasts two days for me and i am a stinky guy living in Texas
Hi Evangeline Yawn. Yes, it works pretty good for me. It took a bit for my body to get used to it (for it to work all day). I'm in the garden a lot and perspire a lot. I still want to do a diy with my old recipe that uses bentonite clay. I'll do that one real soon. Thanks so much for watching! 💓
Sha-na-nah Sha-na-nah Thank you so much for the quick reply! I love your energy! It honestly feels like being at family's house just chatting and cooking something up watching your video. I just absolutely love your energy and personality in this video. I haven't watched the others yet, but I plan on spending some of my day looking at your other videos. This was really the only deodorant one I could find without baking soda. Or up until the point I came across it and stopped looking else where because of your personality. Lol. From the research I have done, baking soda is not really good for homemade deodorant because it, for one, burns or just really damages people a lot of the time used in such a high percentage and is abrasive and it clogs your pores which is not good especially for the lymph nodes and breast tissue we are basically putting it directly onto and blocking the natural sweat and detox process. That's just my research since my mom had to go through breast cancer and getting her lymph nodes removed with a double mastectomy. That has what really opened my eyes about how important trying to switch up whatever I can of my store bought products for homemade ones is. I live in the Houston Tx heat and humidity and I like to garden and all of that as well when I can. There are not many things more rewarding than being able to grow your own food!!! The deodorant will be kept inside where it is cool though, and I don't mind sweating. I am on long term antibiotics and treatments for a late stage disease I hope will go into remission, but sweating is really good for me (I am not saying an of this for pity, it's just a fact of life, and life is still good 😁). Sorry, another question, but I am wondering after the deodorant settles and sits in the tubes, cools down completely, is it stiff enough? or is it soft and creamy? Would there be anything you would change? Like adding more or less of beeswax or arrow root? Oils? Butters? Anything? Or were you happy with the way it turned out? I don't want to have to go to the fridge every time I need to apply deodorant either. Lol. That's crazy. I have some coconut oil infused with vanilla and want to use some sweet orange essential oil for a "Dreamsicle" or "Creamsicle" type of smell. I love making pretty much all of my homemade products that I can with that smell. I buy pretty much all of my ingredients in bulk as well because it is so true that most diy beauty things call for most of the same ingredients. I would LOVE to see your bentonite clay tutorial, can't wait!!! Sorry for the long comment, basically telling you my life story, and multiple questions. Lol. But thank you so much, I am going to drink my morning coffee and watch some of your other videos now. I never comment on things because I am not able to keep thins short and sweet, it always turns into a novel. Lol. I'm really sorry about that. x1000 I apologize. Have a beautiful day.
Evangeline don't apologize for that reply. I really enjoyed getting to know you a little better. The breast cancer risk is the reason why I even considered changing deodorants. I've tried so, so many (the crystal, Tom's etc). Then when I made a deodorant with baking soda, it worked great but it burned my underarms and turned them dark. Eww. LOL You're right. I love gardening. I've been fighting grass in my garden. It's been raining so much for about a month. It's a nightmare, but I'm gonna keep fighting.😄 I hope you go into remission as well. Funny you should ask about the consistency of the deodorant. I was just thinking about it the other day. The stick is kinda soft. It keeps the stick form though. I would add maybe 1 more Tbsp of beeswax if I do it again. Also, maybe a bit more arrowroot powder just for my own "security" LOL That infused coconut oil sounds heavenly. Do you buy it that way or do you infuse it yourself? Thanks so much for the nice comments. I try to be myself. I can be a bit of a clown sometimes. But if I can make my viewers smile or laugh, my work is done. LOL Thanks for your support.
I made them, then let it sit overnight, then I had to suddenly pack to come to Mississippi for my husband's work AND I FORGOT THEM! Lol. I meant to grab them. I kept telling myself to bring them. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to me. So in like 4-6 weeks I will get back to Houston and try them. I was so upset I forgot them. I put so much work into them, then cleaning up everything because I am so messy. I was so upset with myself.
AWW Evangeline! So sorry that happened. I do that all the time. What essential oils did you put in it? Was it firm enough? I just did a video that I need to upload of another recipe. It uses DE. It came out so soft. 😢 It's still usable, but I will have to apply with my fingers. I'm still reviewing it.
