If you can't find abs sheets then you can also use pvc sheets that are easier to get. Use the 1/4" thick one. If you put some car door protection rubber trim on its border it will look cleaner and protect it better from shattering.
I've been trying to find one for a lancer es but most are only made for the evo, thank you for the idea. Just some questions, Has it held up, and if you could of changed something, what would you change.
What thickness is the sheet? I just made so.thimglike that mines a 3 peice. I tryed a couple differwnt thickness sheets..ended uo spending way to much. Not only did i scrap the original idea anc the b plan and the c plan...i ended up with a custom ass over built intake duct under the bumper flr my true cold air intake. Also custom. I basily re akinned the whole bumper!
i want to know what that you cut.. that glass or something? please give me link or image example i might get it then i could make myrself for my car :)
hey bro nice job. if you ever use this material again get yourself a cheese grater tool and a red devil blade. I used to work in plastics and to shape and clean up edges like that we'd use these "cheese grater" blades that fit a yellow handle made by Stanley. once you finish shaping you use a red devil blade which takes the sharp edge off.
Nice video. Tip: instead of measuring a lot of points and then drawing a line use the bumper lip to trace the line directly. Since its off the car is easier to do and on the sides you simply push in a little to make the template shorter on the sides. When you cut the template the line will be perfect and you simply put it out in the bumper the distance you want. Way easier to sand and fit in the end.
It'll definitely help the non-readers if you put in the description the hardware store and part number. I tried looking it up Menards online, but couldn't find it.
just move the bumper forward four and a half inches and trace it exactly and then move the bumper back and trace it again and that'll show you where it fits on also it needs to go farther under the car mount to a chassis Point otherwise the wind is just going to pull the bumper cover down and not affect the wheels at all
C Sund OEM but if you have the 05-06 one they are slightly different. However if you are talking about my current set up you’ll see on my IG then they are still the same ones but painted with clear reflectors.
Good video but slow down, felt like you were in a rush and couldn't hold the camera still. If your gonna make a how to video people need to be able to follow it without getting motion sickness.
Michael Bearse well this is just a giant sheet of ABS plastic i got at Menards but I’m not sure it’s in every state. Sheet metal i get at a local metal shop though too. If you need metal I’d just google for metal shops near you but i also live pretty close to a big city which is where i get it.
I'm thinking about doing the same thing to my car, and while I was watching hour video it occurred to me that tracing the existing lip would give a perfect line, no? I don't have that quick release so I figure I could just place some bricks/boards underneath the cardboard template, trace the existing lip, move the cardboard to where I want the ñew extension, and trace most of it all over again, no?
Shnarkle VonBarkle yes, if I were to do it again I would just trace the lip out first and cut that with the added few inches from where you want it to start
