Thanks but I'd probably use a Sazsall, this way, my arm doesn't fall off from hack sawing for an hour.

you should put the plastic washer on first then the metal one on top of the plastic one

This is my kind of content. The cheapest hacksaw (which everyone has from that one time as a renter), and a paint can opener & hammer. No sarcasm : this task IS something anyone can do and should feel confident in taking care of. You don't need all of the "correct" tools. Just Do It.

The bolts get rusty because all the pee pee that splashes all over. I puts a collection pan there, collect the urine, and then throw it on my neighbors front porch. I hate them.

Why didn't you just use OATEY LiquiLock ? it turns whatever water is left in the very bottom of the bowl into a gel! cost $3.45 a single use pack, at Lowes.

I have an RV toilet where the rusted bolts are surrounded by the bowl base casting with just enough access for an end wrench. What do I do?

Finally was able to cut out sections of the plastic base around the stuck bolt with an oscillating power saw and get it free.

Anyone know if the expansion of these bolts can break the tank? Easy solution is to use stainless or brass bolts so stupid they use steel.

toilet bolt order is incorrect during re assembly. Its white cap base, brass washer, brass nut to tighten it down, then white cap.

to install the new bolts was very easy, just followed the instruction on the box which I bought from the store, Then, tighten it with a wrench and it's done

FYI. You were using those "Channel-Locks" backwards.

The hardest part is lifting the toilet up onto the new bolts without folding one of them down, especially if you have a heavy toilet

so two hours later am still hack sawing , maybe if you are. young guy with big muscles this step will go faster but it is very difficult.

Couldn't find the hacksaw used a hacksaw blade got frustrated used the sawzall it worked until it didn't battery died and the battery on the charger wasn't plugged in...of course so I used an angle grinder with a cut off wheel xd fastest and easiest way to do it your welcome :)

Very DIY, but actually very very helpful, real issue, real environment, no labs demonstration. Thanks for sharing, I'm going to do the same tomorrow, except the bolts rusted so much they have snapped, so I hope it'll be easy replacement. :)

@@Hannah_design Yes! Indeed, I've managed to get 3 bolts out of 4. So the 4th one stayed, but a new one went close to the old one. So far so good😇

Why can't I find a video where it shows people actually putting those screws in the flange? Your flange is nice and clean but I have one that has stuff stuck all over it and everything and it's maddening.
