Today my buddy Aaron is going to be using some 3m vinyl car wrap for Jawbreaker the 1973 Volkswagen Beetle.
He’ll be showing us some tips and tricks to wrapping cars he’s learned over the years.

Aaron did a great job with that wrap. It's always cool to watch a skilled craftsman do their thing. Wrapping the hood inserts may go well with something on the deck lid to keep it all balanced out. Happy to see whatever you decide- your car is so cool because it yours! Thanks for sharing something a little different, it's a cool idea!

Looks cool and I would do the hood too. My bug will soon have had all the welding work done but I can’t afford the paint job it deserves at this time, a wrap may be the answer.

Thanks! I’d get the body work as close as you can get it minus paint. The wrap will show imperfections underneath so the body work needs to be pretty spot on. But yes, this would be cheaper than painting.

Dang brother, she looks great!! I would never attempt that. I would have had 50 wrinkles everywhere. Definitely looks great on jawbreaker!! I vote yes for the trunk lid inserts

It’s darker than I had thought, definitely difficult picking from small samples. Overall I’m happy, it brings some character to the car and helps tie in the other grey accents I did a while back. Thanks for the comment!

Lookin good! I was skeptical at first but the finished product is amazing. For the hood my vote is to leave the blue, but the good thing about the wrap is you can always take it off!! Music at the end had a sweet 80”s vibe to it, diggin it man!

Love The outcome of it man!🔥 i do have some questions on the prep before putting a wrap. My cars paint isn’t the greatest, some parts of the body The paints chipping , fading and there’s a few dents around. What should I do first to get it ready for a wrap?

You need to prep the areas like you would for paint. Any imperfections under the wrap will show through.

I have a 70 Beetle. It's blue/gray 2 tone. I hate anything in the gray color. I was thinking of getting it wrapped. Any advice you could me? It also needs a new headliner and that's about it other than some hippie looking sticker/magnets. About how much money am I looking at .I know it's just a guess. Oh yeah my car is 2 tone blue/gray..yeah my favorite color. Your car looks good and doesn't look gray. Any advice will be appreciated .

Only advise I can give is use quality 3M material and take your time, don’t rush it. I tried a panel off camera and he had to redo it lol

This is old now so you probably already finished the car. But I was seeing the metallic grey going nice with cobalt blue on the wings with the metallic grey on the centre of the bonnet. Either that or you could go for pure white 👍🏻

Do the center in Gray you'll like it once it's done it'll look good do the other side make it complete and then do all the fenders in Black and then do the outside of the hood in black and the deck lid in black and the roof and black and black out the windows

Haha, the possibilities are almost endless between colors, designs, etc! I’ve got some ideas brewing in my head, we just didn’t have the time to do them all before wrapping the car. I’m going to mull this one over, was hoping the color would be lighter. Might peel it and switch it up later down the road.... that’s the beauty of the wraps!

You should NOT have to use heat on a flat panel and if you know how to wrap, you would NOT have to use primer on a recess.

Depends on the distributor but yes between 7-10 degrees.

I want to attempt this. But what ceramic coating did you use?!? I heard the PREP is more important than the wrap. My paint is original from 1964, so trying to be careful to preserve it! Thanks for the vid!

I used to e Avalon king ceramic coating. Prep is super important before you do anything, costing or wrap. Appreciate you watching and commenting 🤙

Don’t be sorry, thanks for being honest. I’m torn actually, I thought it would be a few shades lighter. Joys of picking colors from a small sample lol I don’t think the camera did it justice. I’ll sleep on it for a bit and worse case I’ll peel it off and have him redo it in a lighter color.

Love the color scheme..that gentleman has skill & patience! Gary how did you glue the trim? I have a heck of a time with mine coming loose, even falling off.

There’s no way I could have had the patience to do it! For the trim, I just used a spot of super glue to hold the trim on.
