Common problem with these saws is a broken trigger. I don't know why they break, but if you don't know how to repair them, it's easy to make the problem worse.
I have an older Husqvarna 61 saw, which is still working well. Of late the throttle jams at full throttle. If I move the locking lever very slightly throttle works okay for a bit as long as I keep my thumb lightly on the throttle lock part. It has been bad of late so its something in the trigger, or the spring is out of place? I hope that I can sort it out. Anyway, great video and calm precise instructions on getting in there at that tricky throttle control system. Thank you.
I have a question for you in regards to the trigger and safety trigger. I dropped my saw a few feet of the ground and it happened to smack the secondary trigger to where it broke it off. It also broke the mounts also. How do I replace that whole handle mechanism?
Well that is completely utterly helpful lol. I assumed the handles split but couldn’t see how. I also realized they didn’t sent the spring I needed. So off to order that now. Found this saw on the road and it ran. Couldn’t find the owner so 8 yrs later I’m going to fix it and use it lol. Thanks!.. well done sir!
This was great. The plastic piece that is attached to the linkage fell down inside the throttle assembly and locked it up so I was able to take apart and repair. I was convinced much more disassembly was required to access them.. Thanks
The plastic piece that fits on the end of the rod that rubs on the trigger fell off and jammed the works on my 357xp. Had me going for a bit until I found this video. Thank you sir.
Thank you! Just bought a jonsered 2152 that has similar mechanisim and was so dissapointed because throttle kept getting stuck every now and then. Local repairshop said they had to replace whole tank assembly since you couldnt replace just throttle. Insted of being too exlpensive to fix it's now a very doable diy! Again, huge thank you!
My old man must gave me an identical saw because 2 years ago the operator presence lever broke and he couldn't be bothered fixing it. By the way he made it seem, it wasn't worth monkeying with. But after watching this I think he just wanted an excuse to get a new saw
Gonna go fix a 350 in my garage now, the new throttle trigger just arrived in the mail. I was wondering if the operator presence lever needs to be removed to replace the throttle trigger. I might try and keep mine in at first, and see how it goes. Most likely will just take it out as can see everything more clearly with it out. thank you for posting this
Great step by step howto video! Saved me from making mistakes like breaking existing good parts by trying to remove them the wrong way, and I spent a lot less time compared to trial and error. I had to order a new spring because when the trigger 'broke' or whatever, the trigger and spring fell off and my searches through the leaves and other debris of the forest floor where I'd been working were fruitless. The new spring refused to lock into place, so I had to bend the short-end tip a bit more to get it to firmly lock into the notch on the trigger. Also the pin that holds the trigger in place was gone (hence the trigger falling off somewhere in the East Texas woodlands), so I had to find a machine screw of the right diameter to use in that pin hole after installing the new trigger. Aside from those small adjustments, following your narration and illustrations let me finish the job in the 8 minutes it took to go start to finish of your video (not counting the 2 weeks it took the parts to arrive). Thanks a lot for sharing your expertise!
Son religiously checks his oil... LOL! I just had to get him into the habit of checking it. He sold that car, though and has a much newer vehicle now. Thanks for the comment!
Very good video. I dropped my 359 out of a tree onto a brick drive way yesterday. There is no visible damage but the trigger only woks occasionally. By that I mean it can always be pulled but doesn’t always push the wire that attaches to the carburettor.
I just found a newer model of this 350 in the trash for a similar reason. The trigger hinge pin was vibrating out and causing the trigger to jam. I put the pin back in and put a drop of super glue on it. I now have a very nice free chainsaw. Just happened like an hour ago lol. Maybe i can sell it back to the guy...
Hey buddy, ive just began workin on chainsaws, just repaired 3 old poulan metal case 25DA. I have now started on a husqvarna 55 and a 41. The 41 has a broken trigger. Ive ordered parts trigger and operator presence switch kit spring and roll pin is this about the same repair for a 41?
Hi! Cool video, thanks!! Pls tell me where that long fuel line from primer bulb connects to. The short one connects to carb and the long one should drain fuel back to the fuel tank but I can't find where to connect it.
Sr thank you for that info.my trigger is kind hard when i tip side the saw.what do you think it is.it does not look broken.to me but have't check the inside of it.
You might get lucky with an epoxy repair... You could also try to "plastic weld" the cracks up. I've only done a little plastic welding, and it is effective, but it isn't real pretty.
