DIY JDM Tail lights for EK Civic hatchback

In this video we teach you how to make your own JDM tail lights for an 96-00 EK Civic hatchback with nothing more than a few wire connectors and a pair of bulb holders which you should be able to find from your local scrap yard.

Hello , this is very helpful and thanks for making this video , atm just gathering materials. Wanted to ask you if the bulbs for the extra lights (bottom) are p21/5w and if they light up brighter (21w) during braking or you have them connected to light up only when lights are on?

Do you use relays for the actual for light? Or it does the same thing but always

not hating or anything, but this was done incorrectly. japanese headlights have both top and bottom as sidelight, but for the brake light only the top part shines brighter.

You need to do one more thing though, the original fog light section is brighter than the other side, aswell as the light doesn’t go as far round the edge as the other side because inside that lower right light there’s a reflective shroud type thing, probarly best to cut a square out the bottom of the light to pull this out then seal it back togeather 😇

Hi mate I see you got a civic Do you know a way of keeping the side indicators on when you switch the lights on? I can’t seem to find out anywhere lol could you help

Do you mean like the US style headlight so the indicators are always lit up?

So when you press the foot brake does the top and bottom light up or just the top? ( as standard

Yeah, top and bottom lights up but you can jist stick a single filament holder in if you don't want them to both be brake lights and just wire the sidelight up to it

Awesome video as always & informative to anyone wanting to give this a go! I know it might sound like a daft question but what does JDM actually stand for? I'm not with the lingo or abbreviated stuff, I just like watching the videos because I don't do things like this myself..... XD

It stands for Japenese domestic market. It's basically an over complicated way of saying it's from Japan 😂 The Japaness Civics had the double lights from the factory so that's where the idea came from 🙂

@@LeadFootash23 Ahhh that's cool & makes sense, I thought it was some kind of modification package that you were turning the Civic into a JDM modded car which I guess in some aspects you are if the Japanese Civics were like that. So my RX8 is a JDM car then? If so that makes it sound even cooler. ;)
