I found this post by accident. This was a very well thought out, ingeniously designed piece. Plywood is nice, however, I do believe you can make another posting of this with walnut, mahogany or beach wood and that will take this design to the professional level. Great job. Way to use your coconut. Love it!

I'm happy you stumbled upon this happy little accident. You're probably right. I could pump these out and make some dough, but I'll leave that up to someone who buys the plans and pays me a licencing fee. As for the walnut/maple etc. I like to use plywood because mistakes are less expensive, and also because it cuts down fewer hardwood trees. Anyway, I hope I earned your sub. I suggest checking out my bed desk video!

This is a great project. I like the fact that you built it all, even the mechanism for the top from repurposed parts. Definitely a fan of that. And the secret draw is cool. But what I admire the most is the the honesty of what didn’t work and what you did to fix it. The value of that is worth supporting. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Rather then waste all that blue tape for the edges, I've had good luck with wide ratchet clamp straps, using a regular clamp can help hold in place while wrapping for larger builds 👍 cool build, thanks for the video my man!

This is the exact kind of thing I would like to have. I've seen ridiculously expensive transforming coffee tables (they extend like the first part of your table and don't further fold out into a full table, but the main thing I want is the ability to pull it over one's lap when sitting on the couch, so that's kind of fine...). The sellers (not counting shipping and tax) tend to ask for $1000 for them.... and yeah, not spending that much. One thing I would change/add to your table is weights to the back side of the table (furthest side from the couch). This is to counterweight when placing heavier things on the pulled up table top when it is over your lap as well as to add stability. This is probably more of a personal issue, but the reason I would want this is because of using large gaming controllers (such as arcade style ones for rhythm games), of which you'd be pounding away on the buttons and wouldn't want the table to shake or even worse, tip down on you while playing.... Of course it would make the overall table heavier, but it wouldn't require the look of the table to necessarily change.

I have always has excelent results using tape to prevent blowout on the table saw. Not sure why anyone would say it does not work unless they were using the wrong blade anyway. You would not want to use a rip blade on plywood for example. Very ingenious table BTW.
