Built myself a DIY live edge waterfall desk/table, that would also work as a live edge waterfall table. The live edge table is for my office.
The live edge table is a beautiful piece of padauk and I used hard maple for the leg of the table. I used dominos for joinery and epoxy as an adhesive. The process I go through would be the sale for either a desk or a table. Here is the how to build a diy waterfall table.

Really nice table. One critique: on almost all your videos the music volume is quite a bit higher than your voice, makes it hard to listen with headphones, keep having to change the volume to hear you and then getting blasted by the music.

@furthernorthfab 6 лет назад
Thanks for the feedback. I didn’t realize the volume issues until it was already uploaded. The chair video has the right balance of volume and the next few videos I’m working on will not have the same issue.

Nice work, but PLEASE match the volume of your voice to the music! The music was way louder. In my opinion you don’t need the music all.

Thanks for the Feedback. My videos since haven’t had the same issue. Still learning all the ins and outs of the video editing software I’m using.

Nice work, the desk looks great! How is it holding up? Does it sway/rack side to side at all? I am thinking of building something similar and want to keep it a minimalist as possible but don't want it to wobble.

Thanks Ryan. I still use this as my main desk and it’s solid as a rock. It has darkens a lot but that’s to be expected

Beautiful desk. At least you know that real woodworkers would notice the screw-hole plugs.

Thanks for the video. I am planning a similar project, except that I don't have a Festool Domino. I have the same problem with how to align the parts with two live edges. I have a different idea. I'll see how I go and then I'll post a video of my attempt on my channel for anyone interested.

Awesome desk man! One question does the wood stay in that awesome red color it's whole lifetime? I've never seen that type of wood before, it's amazing! I do like the music btw, lol

So far the padauk is still a nice reddy orange color. Thanks for checking out my video!!

Love it! I have a few slabs laying around but I am having trouble planing them. I made a router jig with a 2" dado but it seems to keep warping. Do you have any tips?
@furthernorthfab
@furthernorthfab 6 лет назад
Thanks! The relief cuts made all the difference in the world. I’ve levelled slab in the past with a router sled, and it works great, but this would have taken way to much material off on this one. The relief cuts gave me just enough flex to bring it back to level.
@andrewiannello6548
@andrewiannello6548 5 лет назад
You could use a router jig to cup out a spoon in place of the relief cuts. Just as leveling seems to be a never ending process it's removing surface tension. The cup can be quite deep and when finished you won't see relief cuts. The cup can finish 20mm short of the mitre to maintain a good glue surface area and you can then have short relief cuts at the mitre which wont be visible. This is a stunning piece with some nice touches.
