DIY Output Platform Music Studio Desk Build

In this video my dad builds me a new music studio desk while I hold the vacuum and camera!

The desk is built from three 3/4" thick 4'x8' sheets of baltic birch plywood sheets which you should be able to find from any furniture lumber or wood supplier. The desk took us 3 weekends to build, however that time could definitely be cut down depending on how it's built. My desk is based off the desk Extralife built, which itself is based off the desk Richard DiZerega built, which itself is based off the Output Platform desk. “And I’ve got a Dad so..” Haha, Well Done with this build. I may have to do this! I just don’t know if I can have my main monitor so high. I’m in Canada too so building is the only option.

If you're in the GTA I highly recommend Exotic Woods in Burlington for the Wood! I find the monitor is at just about the perfect height, it's at eye level for me however I'm 6' tall so a higher monitor does suit me.

Did the same thing about a year ago, yours is probably one of the most accurate on youtube. I love the way mine turned out too, its 1 to 1, and I have the cable management shelf in the back that I did with some black PVC. The only difference in ours is I match the dark stain variety they offer. I really wished I had filmed the process...

I couldn’t find the exact desk anymore. But it was a simple desk and leg combo like this one: www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/linnmon-adils-table-white-s29932181/ with an extra monitor shelf similar to this one: www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/elloven-monitor-stand-with-drawer-white-50474770/ (can’t find the one I had anymore)

Took us 2 weekends to build the desk. The staining is what took a really long time, certainly cutting all the pieces takes an afternoon. Somemeone had to hold the camera…
