We worked with a client to turn their old dining table into a card/poker table.
The card table was built on top of the old dining table and utilizes the same base.
Center of the 3/4" plywood was cut out to than be upholstered and set back in.
we veneered red oak, added 8 cup-holders and a bumper rail to finish the look.
Like the final result.

Looks great! The playing surface should have 1/4" foam glued to it before adding the felt. That gives a better feel, raises it above the wood a bit more, and adds a little finger room when picking up cards and chips.

I like it, one suggestion though. Should have added neoprene under the felt to add a spongeiness to the table, will aid in cards sliding and chips not bouncing and rolling.

100%. I'd go as far as saying it would be worth it to disassemble and add 1/4" closed foam. It also makes picking up cards and chips so much easier.

i love the look of the racetrack but for playability, i prefer felt all the way to the rail

The look of the racetrack is always beautiful but playing on felt all the way through is definitely a lot better to be honest

You need to make foam+felt all the way. The wood, will make it impossible to play poker, and looking at cards, when needed to. No foam underneath the felt, is an absolutely no go.

Right, because we love shuffling our poker chips on top of fucking wood…go full felt or go back to the house. This ain’t 2001, race track poker tables are dead dude.
