Built this project today. Modified it a tad for a higher rise. Came out perfect. FYI for the folks looking for plans. Just pause the video in the beginning. The plans are right next to the CAD drawing. You need (4)- 2x4x8. Cheap 2" casters. 3" screws. And (2)- 3/8" bolts @ 8" length. (2)- 3/8" wingnuts, and some washers. You don't need a TV mount either. You can just make one with wood.

did you build it for outdoor use? What type of wood did you use? just pine or treated?

thanks... great video... Just hung a TV on wall in garage, but decided I wanted to make it mobile to move out to backyard patio ( second 7ft garage door on back of garage so easy to roll out to patio once I build something like this) ... was thinking of adding a plywood bottom to the base and then pouring in some concrete for added weight to help avoid tipping. but again thanks for the video - I was torn on deciding what height, and then saw your video with the adjustable height.

Excellent video but I have one question. Can the TV be turned from landscape to portrait orientation with your design? The reason I ask is that I want to store this in a closet that would only be large enough if the screen could be adjusted to portrait orientation. Thank you.

I wanted to thank you for this project. I am a teacher here on a little island called aruba and at the moment we are doing 90% of classes at home. And this stand helps me so i can make a make shift studio for recording classes for my studio. The prices for metal stands like these on the island go around $225 🙈. This one cost me about $40 to make. I am definitely subscribing to your channel awaiting to see more great and practical ideas👍😊

Aruba! Home of Xander! And your neighboring island Curacao home of my current neighbor in Los Angeles, Kenley Jansen. Love the vibe from players from those two islands. Incredibly nice people. In fact, Kenley's number for the Dodgers is 74. 74 is the street address of his childhood home in Curacao. Legend!

Oh snap check it out, you made another video. I was just browsing around and came across a couple videos of yours that I liked and decided to subscribe just a week or so ago, just to get disappointed when I went to your channel and saw you hadn't made a video in months. I even thought about unsubscribing and bam, you make a new one. Keep up the great videos. Very informative and usually fairly easy stuff once you break it down.

Great Video! How much weight do you think it could support? I am thinking of using this for a 65" tv about 50 pounds. I do not want to drill holes into the concrete wall.
@LRN2DIY
@LRN2DIY 3 года назад
I'm confident that the stand could hold 50 lbs so you just need to make sure the mount you choose can support that as well. One like this, for example (amzn.to/310yjh2) could handle a whole lot more.

You mentioned that you Used a 7/16" Drill bit. Do you think the 3/8" screw will fit with 3/8" drill bit or will that be counter productive? I am just thinking cost wise and the structure of the Stand because I intend on adding Mounts for two of my game systems. So the more snug fit the better?
@LRN2DIY
@LRN2DIY 6 лет назад
The bigger the better there. The idea is that the bolts have plenty of room to slide through the holes and aren't getting caught in the holes. Any way that you can arrange for them to slide easily is ok. Does that make sense?
@judalion13

I am needing a tv stand similar to this that can be seen over peoples heads at a trade show, what would i need to change to in the measurements to make the wood long enough for that? Thank you!!
@LRN2DIY
@LRN2DIY 3 года назад
The only change you should need to make is to make either the lower 3 2x4s on the neck or the upper 2 2x4s on the neck taller. You could make them all longer if you want more adjustability and you might consider making the feet longer if you need better balance at the increased height but it may not be necessary.

What size is the TV you used here? What sort of weight do you think the stand could support?
@LRN2DIY
@LRN2DIY 7 лет назад
I'm pretty sure this is either a 39" or 42". It supports it really well but does start to get tipsy if I put the TV way off to the side, which the TV mount allows. Weight-wise, I think it can handle quite a bit - maybe even 100lbs or more so long as you're not trying to move the TV too far away from that top arm. The size of the base and TV mount are the two biggest factors.
@gt2scale
@gt2scale 7 лет назад
Great. Thanks for the reply. I recently upgraded to a 4K TV for our living room, and now there is a 60" (the old TV) that is collecting dust, begging to be a shop TV.

@LRN2DIY

Thanks, George. I started shooting on a Canon 70D sometime last year and used a Canon 7D before that. The main factor in the image is the glass though - I use a Sigma DC 30mm F/1.4 lens and I love it. The low light capabilities are fantastic (because of the 1.4 aperture). Thanks for watching!

Depends on the mount you use with it. The hydraulic kind typically isn't designed to hold those heavier TVs but there are many mounts that could easily hold it. The stand isn't the limiting factor as much as the mount.
