DIY - How to remove and replace rear wheel bearing on a 70 series Toyota Landcruiser Torque Specs - Axle nuts 60Nm - Caliper mounting bolts: 103Nm - Wheel nuts 209Nm
Top video mate, about to tackle mine this weekend on HZJ78R Troopy after LHR wheel bearings let go last weekend. Will have your video up on my phone saturday morning as guidance! Cheers, Mitch
Thanks mate - just did mine. Great video. Had a question about the axle oil seal with the spring retainer. I had someone do my bearings whilst doing my suspension and afterwards I had diff oil leaking out. Opened it up and both axle seals were damaged. Are you aware of what way they are meant to be installed. I had the spring retainer side into the diff as it seemed like a leading edge.
Thanks for that video mate. It’s hard to find a good video in german ;) I discovered that my bearings are a bit loose. Do you think it’s possible to just tighten it up? I have the same problem at the front axle. I have a HZJ78 I’m gonna tackle the issue next week.
Hey mate nah you shouldn’t have to engage diff locks to remove I don’t actually have any diff locks in mine but if yours does it should come out unlocked if you’ve got trouble removing it it may be due to a twisted axle or some other issue
Hey mate thanks for pointing that out I definitely installed a new one I do talk about them when I take them but must have skipped over that bit when editing the video sorry
Hey mate, the parabolics are great, I went with westralia springs and got the heavy duty rated ones with weight in the back I find they ride really well and quite flexible.
Any seal or gasket you remove you should replace as they can get damaged on removal even if it looks like they are fine it’s cheap insurance to just replace them. That’s my personal recommendation and opinion anyway
What you are calling cones are actually the cups.what you calling collars are collets.40 years in trade.not trying to be smart, just for your information
Thanks, I’m also qualified and in the trade I’ve heard lots of things called different names depending on where I’ve work so maybe it’s one of those things.
