Here is how I made a Recording Vocal Booth for Under $100!
(Apologies for the wonky audio. There are detailed instructions below so you don't miss anything!)
_________
For cutting the PVC, you will need a hacksaw, seven 10ft PVC pipes, measuring tape, a pencil/marker, and a mask.
Wear your mask to prevent from inhaling the PVC dust, and take two of the 10ft poles, measure to 5ft (in half), and cut.
Take the rest of the poles, measure 4ft, and then cut another 4ft out of the excess (out of each of these five 10ft poles, you will get two 4ft poles and one 2ft pole).
You should end up with four 5ft poles, ten 4ft poles, and four 2ft poles.
Here are the rest of the supplies:
10 ft PVC Pipes: www.lowes.com/...
Elbow PVC Fittings: www.lowes.com/...
Tee PVC Fittings: www.lowes.com/...
Acoustic Foam: www.amazon.com...
Moving Blankets: www.amazon.com...
Now you are ready to assemble!

This looks great and pretty straightforward. Was there any issues with the sound coming in from the gap between the bottom of the soundproof blanket and the floor? I noticed the length didn't reach the floor. Did that create any issues?

That’s a nice and simple build. I like it. I have been mulling this build over in my mind for a few years and today, I decided to finally do it. Thanks to a friend who basically had the frame I needed (metal piping). All I have to get is the blankets and soundproof foam. I will do a slight variation to the build by mounting plywood in the open spaces of the piping and attach soundproof foam to that. Question for you? Do you have a shelf to set an iPad/iPhone or your lyrics on!? Thanks for your video…

I've been toying with the idea of building my own sound proof booth. On a tight budget. Wonder if you could leave off one of the pvc pipes in the middle, so the draped blanket becomes a door where you don't have to duck under to get in?

@@CaseyTylerCovers Good morning Casey. The blankets you bought are very thin aren't they? Do they absorb enough of the reverb sound of the room? My living room has a lot of reverb and because one person says I need the professional blankets that are high in price and another person says I need thicker blankets because the thin ones don't really absorb anything - love to hear your experience with yours. I am a opera singer, so I not really want a fully closed booth where all sound boomy, the vocal still have to sound alive. Hope you can share with me your idea on the blankets and what your results are with the thin ones you use,,Thanks
@CaseyTylerCovers
@CaseyTylerCovers 4 года назад
@@joshrainbow-IceTenor they are pretty thin! I was trying to keep my booth super cheap, so I definitely would go with a more expensive and thicker moving blankets if you're not worried about price@

@@joshrainbow-IceTenor I think the blankets I have still work nicely though, but I would prefer a thicker one... For what you're looking for they may work though :)

why didn't you just lay the acoustic curtains over the structure in an inverted U shape and avoid all the hassle of hanging them? you can then cross another curtain over and then you have all 4 sides done. wouldn't this work? thanks!

Good idea!!! Very simple. Also if anyone is needing to cut the PVC and don’t have power saws, they sell a little cutter at hardware stores for like 15 bucks.

Hi Casey, i don't want to be a smart ass or anything. But when you are in the booth, who presses record? This is a serious question
@CaseyTylerCovers
@CaseyTylerCovers 2 года назад
I usually just bring a chair with my laptop on it in with me! I’ll press record and make sure the music is pushed a bit so I have a few seconds to get situated and then start singing :)

@CaseyTylerCovers
@CaseyTylerCovers 3 года назад
It's 10 ft. We only used two 10ft poles and cut them in half (making the four 5ft poles) and then the rest were cut 4ft + 4ft + 2ft = 10ft.

Not a real vocal booth it's an enclosure. For a real vocal booth plan that is 100% air tight 20X years in the business. Not to take away from your enclosure baffle but this isn't booth.
