Hello. That was a well done video, i must say! This was our older version of the AVB6 when the walls were attached to the roof panels. The new version has velcro tie ups. So the walls are hung directly on the frame. We are trying to use as little velcro as possible, because when and if the booth covers have to be washed, the velcro hook parts (scratchy side) gets hooked up onto the fabric and rips it. It also picks up stuff from the washing and drying and gets clogged. So if you guys are going to use a lot of velcro hook strips, make sure to buy extra matching velcro loop strips. When taking the covers to laundromat just cover the velcro hook sides with velcro loop strip. This will protect the blanket and the velcro, so it will serve you longer. Happy recording! Jeff.

I have never used you products, but I have to try this out in the future. Could you think about making your website more easy for us in Europe?? We use the metric system, and it takes my longer to convert from feet and inches, than to build a vocal booth... Great service you do here. Great job....

I JUST got finished building one myself based off of this template. It was hard work. Bought a sewing machine, broke about 4 heavy duty needles, and then I returned due to it not going through the velcro. I had to substitute most of the sewing for staples, but it came out pretty nice.

Wow, this was a superb demonstration of how to build a booth. Far superior to many other amateur videos and even better than many professional / corporate videos on the subject. I really appreciate the detailed construction notes and the materials used in construction. I think I'm going to use this approach instead of a PVC-based solution. Many thanks.

@howimadethat5679
@howimadethat5679 3 года назад
Yes, it can get warm in the summer months, in which case we ask the talent to let us know when they want to take a quick break. Then we clip the doors open and turn on a fan to blow cold air inside and it's nice and cool again in a couple minutes.

Do you have an updated link for the velcro and also do you know the specific size for the duffle bag? When I click on the link I'm seeing different options.
@howimadethat5679
@howimadethat5679 3 года назад
I don't have an updated link, but all you need is 1.5" wide hook and loop tape (velcro) without adhesive backing, you need at least 12 yards. The bags I use are 16" x 40". I've even built a few of these with one extremely large duffle for the blankets but it would be too heavy for most people, so I still recommend the two smaller bags.

Have you had any stability problems from the top bar being removed? I had contacted several sellers on Amazon and they all said the side panels could fail without that bar. Just wanted to double check if that has been any kind of issue at all with this much weight being added. Thanks.
@howimadethat5679

The top bar is not involved in the structural integrity of the frame, so it would not be a problem if used as a vocal booth as shown. But you would not be able to use the canopy top that comes with it though.

Thanks for the content. Very detailed and helpful. I am only concern with ventilation. How do you go about that?
@howimadethat5679
@howimadethat5679 3 года назад
Good question. It's so large inside that it's not really a problem, but it can get quite hot in the summer if you don't have the AC cranked. In that situation we just take a break every once in a while and hold the door flaps open with a fan on for a couple minutes and it's nice and cool in there again.
@renzr55

@howimadethat5679

@@renzr55 For our purposes, it's not a concern - our 3 biggest priorities are portability, price, and high quality audio. We can set these up anywhere in minutes, they're inexpensive to build and sound great. Your purposes may be different. If we were recording all day in a stationary studio in a tropical location we would build something different. The main point of this video is to provide instructions on how to build the VocalBoothToGo acoustic rooms easily and at a fraction of the price. There are other videos on RU-vid on how to build stationary vocal booths. Make sure you choose the best one for your purposes!

@howimadethat5679
@howimadethat5679 3 года назад
@@renzr55 Move somewhere cooler, lol. Nah, just do what we do in the summer - take a break every once in a while, crank the AC, pull open the door flaps, turn on a fan, and cool off the inside. Only takes a couple minutes, not a big deal for us. Also, we've found if you hike up the bottom where the flaps hit the floor it adds airflow without drastically effecting audio quality. Doesn't work well if you open the top, but at the floor level it doesn't seem to have much effect on the sound.

@howimadethat5679
@howimadethat5679 3 года назад
Yep, just need 6 blankets instead of 4. Each wall would require its own blanket, as would the top. Then the 6th blanket would be split up to make the top blanket wide enough and the scraps added to create a flap for the door on one of the wall blankets. And it would be huge, I can already comfortably fit several people at once in the 5' x 5' size!

Not entirely sure. It's definitely quieter inside, but that's not really what it's designed to do. It should be setup in a relatively quiet environment to ensure a professional recording. It's designed to remove echo and reflections from hard surfaces.

@howimadethat5679
@howimadethat5679 4 года назад
You bet, in fact the first few we built had a window. I don't build them that way anymore because it adds a reflective surface though. You just cut the hole for the window, then cut a sheet of clear vinyl 2 inches wider and taller than the hole you just cut. You can get sheets of clear vinyl on Amazon, Walmart, fabric stores, etc. Place the vinyl sheet inside the blanket and center it over the hole, as well as between the thickness of the blanket. Then just add binding to both sides and sew in place.

This does not take care of heavy SPL's like airplanes, trucks, low vibrations. $300 does not make air tight nor does it stop the real world residual noises from heavy traffic. This is essentially a tire patch. 25X years in acoustics. This is also not a booth. A true isolation booth that is air tight is the only thing that will stop heavy residual noise. This is a baffle enclosure not a booth.
