DIY Shou Sugi Ban Tutorial / Making Charred Wood Tap Handles

In this tutorial I go through the step-by-step process for getting my signature diy shou sugi ban inspired charred wood finish. We're making tap handles for Urban Roots, a local brewery here in Sacramento. I changed some of my usual work flows during this build, so this will be a refreshing update for those of you that watched my past shou sugi ban videos. After watching your 4 part series I ended up making christmas ornaments for my family and they loved them. You're the only person I can find that does the full char technique. All the others I have found do it the cheap way by lightly burning the softwood.

Thank you for the instruction.....I built stairs in my home and did the wood burning technique. Everyone that has seen it loved it and cant believe that a torch would bring out the grain like it did. Thanks again for another great (& amusing) video. I started my first attempt at Shou Sugi Ban this evening. I have some art pieces to make that I am using 4x4's for the framework. I'm excited!
