My NVR-7716 has 2 fans, one in side of cabinet and one in psu module. Did you disconnect both, or do you only have one fan in your model? I'm afraid that the airflow will decrese, and the PSU will heat up 😞

Yes that can be an issue for you. My NVR has no active cooling fan inside its PSU. Some guys converted to other power supply unit.

to optimize airflow and avoid fan sucking air through the closest ventillation whole instead of the bottom ventillation holes

Initially replaced factory fan with Noctua 40mm, it was better, but still audible so I left it disconnected.
