In this video I talk about how I made a new studio equipment stand. I like to keep my studio clean and so I wanted to make a nice shelf to fit my Minilogue XD, Digitakt, Nektar T4, Empress Zoia, Make Noise 0-coast, Maschine mk3 etc. This is part of my home recording studio tour 2020.
Hope you enjoy this little "behind the scenes" of my DIY process.

How sweet is she? :) Hope her knee is alright? Just a hint: always drill a hole trough before with the diameter of the screws core, just a bit less than the actual screw, I hope this makes sense? That avoids the wood bulging (breaking) or worst case popping off a chip of the covering, all this weakening the ability to carry stuff in addition. Also makes it easier to screw in. If you want to put heavier stuff on the layers (>5kg), consider putting supports left and right and rest the layer on top of that. Well done handyman, looks smart, all with the help of doggo and daughter :D

Thanks Ragnar 🌞, yeah indeed drilling a hole first in these thin MDF is really necessary. I am not planning to put heavy stuff on these thus I didn't add support below the shelves. But its really nice point if you are to put heavy load on there. Its pretty sturdy for those small devices I put on it. 😋 My daughters knee is getting really well. She had an accident with a horse some weeks back which gave a pretty nasty wound. Today me and the family took a bicycle ride for the first time together since the accident so shes definitely better. Glad its healing well! Thanks for writing and many good points my friend! Hope your weekend is creative and fun! 🌞

@@MattiasHolmgren Glad your daughter is recovering well, sounds like a nasty thing taking weeks. Bless her! Thanks for your creativity-boost, I'm onto Bitwig as we speak, always trying to get closer to your professionalism, if possible :)

Yeah she fell pretty hard. The wound was 5mm deep and 4cm wide (almost shaped like a heart) but she was tough and got up on the horse to ride back to the stables before cleaning the wound. Oh awesome. I'm sure you're having a blast mashing the latest Bitwig Studio update. What are you working on? Professionalism. 😋 Thanks for that Ragnar, I am a deep tech nerd. Ive got another Studio One 5 video coming up, then Ive got a Bitwig Studio surprise episode coming up where we will design a "secret" device. 😋🌞 Time to finish the last Metro 2035 book to close this saturday evening. 😀

@@MattiasHolmgren I'm onto that mushroom song again and added "decoration", as I put it. My next woodworking project will be a Helmholtz-Resonator to get rid of a nasty peak appearing in my room at 132 Hz, making it hard to mix with my speakers. You enjoy reading your book! Btw: did you read anything of Iain M. Banks? I recommend "Consider Phlebas", a bit of a cumbersome title, but what a ride.

Ahh it's really hard to tame the rooms resonating peaks. As I work in the livingroom which I think is very inspiring place, bright and easy to get going in! ;D Are you working in a square studio room? Atm. I'm doing most mixing on the headphones as I've found it gives me the best result. Oh, I'll look up the works of Iain M. Banks. Didn't read i yet though. But I have a stock of 4-5 books always rolling. lol...it's fun to have some reading! Great work and good luck with the Mushroom song Ragnar!

How good is it to have such a secret little technical room with everything including another paint (tm) and also such a great video director like your daughter, Mattias! My greeting again to you both! Nice shot, haha! That's also a nice stand as a result, seriously, I like, that you've done it yourself and that's great! Honestly, even I would apparently go to IKEA for it, although it's more native to you, I think =) But yes, good, that you assembled it from natural wood and, as far, as I can see, MDF panels, because I heard, some so-called waferboard panels going to emit phenol, which is definitely not too inspiring) So yes, nice construction! And also the level is perfect, so I can be completely sure! =) I'm also so much in all these construction stories, so yes, very in phase with my current lifestyle, generally :) I just wish this stand working for you for so long being useful and handy, presenting all the instruments in proper times) Have a nice studio sessions with it! Well done!

HI Alexey, oh yeah, Leia is awesome video producer / editor. She's making TikToks videos like creazy. ;D Yeah that gear stand I made was indeed made out of some MDF, I ripped apart an old bed here a few months back and saved some of it to "re-use" as shelves etc. I love to make my own furniture and build stuff. It's in my blood inherited....lol. It's fun to do something different in the videos too, rather than just do composing tutorials, product explorations etc. As constructing stuff is so close to heart.🌞 Today my AKG 141 stopped working on one of the headphones so I dis-assembled it and replaced two cables. I've fixed them so many times I can't bare myself to throw them into the trash. Lol.. I'll throw AKG a letter and ask them to support the channel anytime soon. As I am indeed showing their headphones in every episode. Hope they are up for it. Any music making this week Alexey? Working from home or at the office these days? Have a nice evening my friend!
@aclexvideo
@aclexvideo 4 года назад
@@MattiasHolmgren Oh yes, blood inherited love of construction - that's so close to me as well :) Right, thinking of fusing it with the TikToks? Ready to assemble something in 15 seconds? Ha-ha) Needs some training obviously =) I really share your thoughts on repairing, I also like to fix something and continue using it although sometimes it's really annoying by itself) Have similar story with my AKG K-66 I had since, I think, 2000, but finally crushed them incidentally, so yes, that was the only reason to throw them. Use K92 now and also K240 mk II for some studio work. Like the sound of K240 better, but yes, don't want to use it for everyday things. Oh, music making, on the weekend, I hope. It's just programming, releasing, constructing, constructing all the working days :) I'm just full in music during my free running in the park, but no synths with me there =) Other than that yes, I've been working from home continuously for several years already, so there's not so much that changes now) Like it better, honestly :) Have a nice week, Mattias, to you and Leia and your whole family there! It's just a couple of days to the weekend, so yes, some good feeling should have started to increase! ;)

Hi Oddgeir, you are welcome! 🌞😀 Glad you enjoy this little "behind the scenes" video of my small home studio. It's relaxing and fun to build custom stuff to fit your own personal style and needs. I couldn't find a furniture exactly like this one, which is easy to move around (if need be) and does not take too much space. While still looking stylish (although home made DIY style...) Very happy with having my devices within arms reach. I also decided early on to place my studio in the living room to have my gear ready to rock within minutes if I ever get ideas. I also have the windows towards me, so I could get great natural light for my videos. What ideas did you get for your own studio? How is it set up today?
