this seems to be the easiest way by far to scan a film to digital. thanks for sharing

Anyone watching my video on this know this video is old. However I have found a much better voltage controller that has more of a fine control on AC voltage tuning. It's called Drill Master Router Speed Control Dial which you can get at Harbor Freight. Also forgot to mention if the aperture settings on your camcorder is wide open (2.8 or less) it may be too bright to record. To solve this is to use a variable ND filter mounted on the front lens. My Sony FDR AX100 has a built in ND filter. Otherwise you may have to adjust the aperture settings a little higher.

Hi there. Cool video! I have a question regarding the voltage controller. If I use a drill master router speed controller…could this ruin the projector in any way? Like burn out the motor? Or anything like that?

Gracias buena explicación, he encontrado un regulador igual que el del vídeo pero no se de que depende si es mejor 10a o 25a ?

Thank you so much! Great detail! The link to the actual LED projection lamp is no longer available, but there are others on the site. In post, do you have to flip the footage vertically and horizontally?
@beerborn
@beerborn 5 лет назад
Yes you need to flip it vertically and horizontally using a video editing software like Adobe Premiere or some other software to do the job. Plus other things like color correction from poor quality films.

Not a bad start here if anyone wants to get into this. Back in the 90's when I wanted to try this myself I had to invest in a projector with a specific shutter that had five blades in order to sync it with a camcorder.
@beerborn
@beerborn 4 года назад
Yes, 5 blades from what I understand removes the flickering. You literally have to dismantle your projector just to change the 3 blade on projectors to a 5 blade. Then you have to make some fine tuning adjustments to correct for a 5 blade otherwise you will get ghostings.

Hi, I need that LED bulb very urgently for my 16mm film projector. Where I can find it?

Nice presentation, I'm using Eumig 710D with the hot bulb 12v 100w and always on a lookout for a led comparable. I will definitely try your bulb u are using. Thanks for posting this . Burlington On.

great job! One question, have you tried using a dimmer and a dimmable led light to get the brightness you need instead of the paper? Was the macro lens really necessary? havent you found maybe having the camera farther and with more zoom?
@meljenkins1016
@meljenkins1016 3 года назад
The paper is there to diffuse the light so you won't get a harsh light. My Sony camcorder has a built-in ND filters that I can use if the LED is just too bright which helps. Zooming in at a distance without a macro is nearly impossible to get a good focus on such a very small film gate. The best macro lens that I can think of is the Venus Optics Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe Lens on a DSLR. But it's way too expensive. Its the best since you can get real close to the film gate.

@@meljenkins1016 Hi Again! Mel. I found the raynox macro lens that Ypu used in your video and already transfered about 6 hours of film using your setup. I understood what you explained me!! I used also the paper and added a wall dimmer to a dimmable led light to control the brightness. Worked great! My goal now is to control the motor speed adding a speed controller to the projector in order to reduce the flicker. Just wanted to let you know this and to wish you a nice 2022!

@meljenkins1016 2 года назад
@@miguelgutierrezdequevedo1313 All these videos that I have seen to do film transfer wasn't really complete especially the flickering problem. I also found out that if the projector runs at 24 fps then chances are you can set your video camera at 24 fps and shutter speed at 50 that would greatly really reduce the flickering with a very slight adjustment on the speed control. Glad my presentation worked out for you.

Question, is your Eiki 16mm Projector a 110v one or a 220v one? Thanks!
@meljenkins1016
@meljenkins1016 4 года назад
US 110v . The AC voltage controller can work on both source voltage.
