I've been seeing these trendy two-piece sweater sets everywhere and I knew I could DIY my own! This DIY is beginner-friendly and perfect for those who don't want to break the bank. All you need is a sweater dress or oversized sweater (I thrifted mine!), a sewing machine, & just like that you have a brand new cozy outfit! Whether you're new to upcycling clothing or have an old sweater laying around, this is two-piece set is the perfect DIY that you can complete in one day!

MATERIALS
🌟 Sweater dress (I thrifted mine for $4!)
🌟 Lounge shorts or skirt to use as a pattern
🌟 Fabric scissors
🌟 Tape measure
🌟 Straight pins
🌟 Sewing machine + thread (I used a zig-zag stitch)
🌟 Elastic
🌟 Fray Check Liquid Seam Sealant

I’m with you when it comes to the cold! I’m a Northerner but now live in the South so of course people say this cold shouldn’t be anything for you! That would be a no! Lol Back to the DIY you killed it! At first I thought the grey was going to be my fave but I like both equally! You are amazing! 😉

Happy Friday Orly! Thanks for thinking of us freezing and buried in snow, especially those who aren't ***Regrettably Aren't born and bred for generations in this winter coldness like us New Englanders. Wool is Warmer than ANY Man Made Material, layer up on wool if it makes you itch wear a thin comfy layer covering where the wool will touch underneath, and wear at least 2 layers.

Oh how I want a set of knits like this. My sewing machine is in storage in another state. You could have used that same wide elastic for the bottom of the top too, just like the skirt waistband. (How it’s seen) With your flawless bod you could pull a crop sweater off better than I. LOVE LOVE LOVE this hack Orly, Great Job!

I can relate. I’m from the east coast but lived in Hawaii for 6 years. In the winter it could drop down into the low 60’s and it can feel very cold. It’s what your acclimated to.

I do mostly repairs on my clothes or family members clothes; but I have to admit fray check & fabric glue are items I use a lot of the time. Those 2 items are the 'duct tape' of the DIY world.

Wonderful! Love all your DIYs, no sew and make over new buys (K mart to boutique). So inspiring I won’t toss any cloths out. Makes my husband crazy. “But I’m saving money making my own style”. Yes keep practicing. The more you'll do the more you'll understand the structure and where you might need to tweak it. Practice on cheap fabric so you dont care if you mess it up

You should get a surger! They are worth it! And there is a feature that will stop knits from curling when you serge ☺️ also is your machine has a walking foot that should help too 🥰 cute outfits!!

I love the curled hem idea! Probably won't use the shorts where I live (too chilly for bare legs, or too warm for a sweater, lol) but I am TOTALLY doing that with a sweater I don't wear because it ends just at the widest part of my hips! Thanks!
