What about renting a floor sander with the diamond disc? Is that what you mean about using a grinder? 4:36

I'm using it on my kitchen sink!! I left it 20 hours and when I peeled off the plastic it is still kind of wt and stretchy??? shall I just remove it and try again??

The plastic traps in moisture to keep it from drying out! The Citristrip will have loosened and pulled up what you're trying to remove. At this point, you should be able to wipe/scrap it off with little effort. If what you are removing is several layers thick, then you might have to repeat the process

Previous owner painted the front porch ugly ugly red color. I'm gonna try this trick, thanks.

My entire garage has two coats of paint on it. I put the Citristrip down and left at 24 hours with plastic on top. Today I peel the plastic back and with the exception of what comes off with the plastic it’s still there and hard scraper doesn’t pick it up as I thought it would. Any suggestions? I’m thinking about getting a buffer with the diamond cutting surface to cut through those 2coats in the garage.

Is it possible your garage was painted with epoxy based garage floor paint? Epoxy based paint is much more durable, looks and feels basically the same but way more resistant. I do not know if you painted this floor yourself but if you didn't and the Citristrip is having little effect my guess is the paint is epoxy based, or even oil based. Both have much greater bond strength than normal latex paint and would be far more resistant to chemical paint remover. You are probably on the right track with using a buffer, it will be messy and suck but may be your best way to remove the finish.

i painted the wall and ceiling of garage with latex paint without drop cloths. The spots n the the bare concrete floor are extremely difficult to remove with chemical, wire brushing with drill etc. Small spots ground into the pores of the concrete that are impossible to remove. I intend to paint the floor with 2 part epoxy paint. So I guess ground in paint may not be an issue ?

If you have paint down in the pores of the concrete you could easily paint over that. These garage floors had "puddles" of paint in places where someone clearly spilled large amounts of paint and didn't clean it up. So painting over it wasn't going to work.

You didn't experience paint soaking into the pores? Mine was recent paint drops and some are impossible@@thediygrunt

Think it will work on cleaning some solvent based concrete sealant? Sealed our stamped concrete but it left some splashes and drips during application.

Citristrip is water based I believe so I don't think it would. I could be wrong. You could test it on a small area if you wanted to try it, they sell relatively small bottles of it.

What type of scrubbing machine you used ?
@thediygrunt
@thediygrunt 2 года назад
Used a Ryobi Pressure Washer. If you can't use a pressure washer in the area you are working then you can simply scrape it off.

You're talking about the black round attachment I had on my pressure washer, right? It's a Ryobi surface cleaner attachment

why not use a grinder?
@thediygrunt
@thediygrunt 2 года назад
A grinder is not really appropriate in this situation. It would kick up an insane amount of dust and noise, you run the risk of damaging your concrete, and depending on the amount of paint you're trying to get rid of, the time and energy.

@@thediygruntI agree usually a grinder is more unhealthy to the body than this method. Vibrations, deafening noise, inhalation of particles to name the minimum.

I have like 7 sets of them, might as well use them for something. Saves me money from buying normal civilian work clothes, just use the stuff that was issued to me.

What was plastic for
@thediygrunt
@thediygrunt 7 месяцев назад
It helps it stay wet by reducing direct exposure to the air. If it dries up it will not soak through all the layers of paint. Plus it helps avoid stepping on that area if you are still working in the space.

This chemical sucks ass. Did it twice and didn’t remove all of it. Scraped and pressure washed.
