Great job, great final product, and there’s a bunch of videos showing how to make shoulder planes. But they all use magic blades that just exist in their shop? Never explaining how or where the viewer can obtain these blades?
+Tango Papa 36 Thanks for the question. Setting the blade to make thinner shavings is the most helpful thing. In the video, it was cutting too deep, and those thicker shavings clog up quickly. Thinner shavings are easier to clear. At the same time, this is a fine tuning tool, and the design isn't optimized for large volume of shavings such as you'd find in a bench plane. So you still have to clear the chips, but it isn't as burdensome as it appears in the video.
+Barry's Workshop you could also make the hole conicle on the outfeed side and you will find the chavings are spiraled out and look like beautiful wooden springs. lol
+Barry's Workshop the plane that I brought had slopes on either side of the wedge at the tip to encourage the shavings out of the side I think. Great video. I like the contrasting colors.
