This was way ahead of its time. A true vision. Every now and then I get "Vampires in Helsinki, come aliveee!" as a form of an intrusive thought, in the best way possible.
this is one of my biggest guilty pleasures in eurovision. the melody of the song and the woman's voice transport me to the music that I listened to when I was a child ❤️ the live performance was a total mess but I’m here for it haha
I remember when DJ Bobo got selected for ESC in 2007, it was a real blast from the past as he was a staple in pop culture in my country back in the mid-90s. I actually rather liked the song in the studio version for its nostalgic 90s kitsch. But then he took the stage and he and his sidekick vocalist started singing live. Me and the rest of Europe were literally like: Oooooooh dear!
2007: Switzerland sends a common meme in Romania. 🧛♂️ *10 years later* Switzerland sends band with Romanian singer and Romania starts yodeling. *WTF?!* That's why we love Eurovision, y'all?
The song is amazing the idea was good, but their voices and the performance maybe didn't help much...anyway Switzerland is always one of the underrated countries in the contest....
This song is actually very nostalgic for me. It's like an old-school techno beat with an orchestral twist. I really liked how music back then was a bit more daring; this was mainstream, but it still had room for an "edgy" identity without pulling away it's genre. I just feel like variation in pop music has reduced so much since then. Performance may have been hella cringe, but back then cringe probably didn't even mean what it does today.
Still don’t understand how they messed up the performance with such bad vocals. The song is so catchy and could have won with the right staging and vocals.
Because they tried to make a choregraphy too sophisticated and at the same time sing the song. It wasn't a good choice but I think that it could have been worse.
His shows are usually huge, with lots of effects and choreography. That tiny stage and a 3 minute performance just wasn't ideal. Also, they are usually not fully live, lots of lip synching involved. Of course here they had to sing everything live and it shows why they usually don't do it. Also I loved the mannequins lol.
I wasn't watching Eurovision at this point, but I can only imagine had I been a fan I would have been SO hyped for this entry. While the vocals were off, the entire song takes you into a different world and even though it's a "Eurovision-type" song, I still think it such a unique entry.
This was in killer semi with 27 other countries and this year Eastern european and Balkan countries were dynamite! i Remember this was betting odd numero uno one month before contest. Nostalgic entry, Legendary DJ Bobo hopefully he returns one day.
i noticed that in 2007 ESC the mix between the singers mics & the backing track volume was off , especially in the semi finals ... later years the live performances sounded like CD quality ... DJ Bobo had huge success in the 90s and i think he thought his name alone will get him a high position. this song was just not good, tbh. early 2000s he mightve had more success with this.
With this live performance? Hardly. Sorry, but it's far from great. They blamed "block voting" for their NQ, but I think it has more to do with the fact, that semi-final was crowded (28 countries) and strong.
Es un gran tema, yo creo que no pasó a la final por algunos problemas vocales tanto de el como de ella, aún así joder DJ Bobo es una institución, deberían haberle votado por méritos y al menos pasar a la final.
That's why you need backing vocalists, especially if you can't sing and dance simultaneously. Just compare this to the official music video, it's day and night.
Guys your comments about this performance are so tough. This is not the best of the night for sure but for me it was ok. It could be 100x times better if they didn't made this curious choice to let the singers sing and make a sophisticated choregraphy simultaneously. The girl has an interesting voice but the dancing didn't helped her at some parts of the music. The staging was quiet messy. Why all these models behind ? Fun fact: They came 3rd in the final OGAE vote.
My complete favourite of Esc 2007 and one of the best songs in the history. Sounds like film soundtrack, performance was great, a little mysterious. Honestly, I had expected dancers dressed as vampires XD And her vocals were weak. But anyway, great song.
I had totally forgot that DJ Bobo had competed in Eurovision!! And I've been a Eurovision slave since the early 2000s. He's my favorite artist... and when ever I listen to him or see him. My body begins to tingle. It's weired, he's not particulary handsome. But there is still something (really) sexy about him.
This performance and the result showed that just because you have sold a lot of records in Europe, it doesn't mean you can do well in Eurovision. I appreciate DJ Bobo for being one of the few acts from the Eurodance era that is still quite successful today. At least here in Germany he can still fill big venues because his shows are worth seeing, but there's the problem why it didn't work out that night. Visually it may have been noticeable, but vocally it was pretty lousy. It's still a SONG contest and I'm not sure if it was the right decision to perform there with a song that has vampires as the lyrical content 😉.
Dihaj in 2017 sang "Have my skeletons" and shw entered top 15. I don't think the lyrics was the problem. I feel that the stage was too tiny for what they wanted to do and as a result the whole performance seemed to be "too much".
T MT I think this is great. The performance was really good, nowadays there are really bad and embarrasing performances like Montenegro and Greece 2017
You guys have got to be kidding. There's nothing about this song or performance that rates above "this is humiliating, I've got to go get a drink." Backup dancers with ludicrous mohawks and platform boots? You've GOT to be fucking kidding me.
This is such a strange song. The lyrics are awkward, DJ Bobo is perhaps not the best singer out there, but the song itself is very well produced. It deserved to reach further than it did.
With 28 countries in one semi and only 10 spots in the final? No chance for this. They maybe could do better, but staging, costumes, these mannequins - everything was weird and vocals were not good either.
DJ Bobo’s vocals were okay but he missed most of his notes. The main woman singer and the male backing singer saved this. Also I’m confused with the dolls on stage? It doesn’t relate to the song! However, the dancing was good.
Con aires de musical este famoso dj trajo este tema a Eurovisión representado a Suiza...aunque su participación fue muy sonada no logró pasar a la final.
In my city the works of renovation of the city centre are called "Cantieri BoBo". Something strange in this name? By the way for me this is a great song
