I was really poor too and lived in "ethnically diverse neighborhoods " as well. Because of this, I tend not to think anything of going into certain areas. It's funny as hell to see the reactions on the faces of the locals, when they see me. As a red head, I'm not just Caucasian, I'm WHITE AS HELL. 😏 my husband got completely freaked out, when I mentioned stopping in East Saint Louis to check my map and directions to get to a hotel on a road trip. I mentioned how good the food was at a place call Big Momma's BBQ. Oh Lordy, he acted like our girl and I had been to Afghanistan 😂. I teach at a local technical school, where most of my students are African American. I mentioned the great food at Big Momma's in East Saint Louis. They acted the same way. I had no idea I wasn't supposed to be there. Folks looked up from their food for a minute, looked at us like they saw something they never saw before and went back to eating. I guess they never saw a woman reading a map before. 😏🤣

It was SO crazy to me when I moved out of the city… still freaks me out to be honest… like Y are they outside and energized so danggone early!! We hear about a lot of anti-black racism in Asia as well, bad news sells, don't blindly believe third-hand information. It's a big country, and we have a lot of different people and cultures, which does tend to conflict, but things aren't always as bad as people hype it up to be.

Racism isn’t as prevalent in the US as you might think. If you listen to the media they peddle all sorts of BS to try and get us to hate each other. But if you actually go out and talk to people you’ll see that most of us treat each other with respect. Don’t believe the news coming out of the US, it’s propaganda.

The most overt racism I have ever experienced was traveling through asia.

It's really not bad at all. The media just blows it out of proportion.

Racism is very minimal in the States compared to anywhere else in the world. It’s all propaganda to make you believe otherwise.
