“These are not made for us! We’re going to buy them, but they’re not made for us!” 😅 Mads is right, us “appliance operators” will love this! Great video!
Tbh, the previous "rendering" done in ms paint is pretty spot on lol. The new strap design is pretty interesting, I wonder if it will have issues with light leak. It's too bad the hinge isn't fully functional, I would kill to be able to flip my googgles up like a pair of NODs instead of putting them up on my forehead...
Goggles 3 to me are compliance Goggles. Pass-through LOS paired with remote ID in the Avata makes it legit on paper. The new headstrap is iffy because generally, I like a tight seal for light leak and even dust filming races on dirt roads.
Ever since caddx went all in with the Avatar I was worried DJI would drop support for the Vista out of spite. While they haven't dropped support for it on the G2/Integra, they have (for now) on the new goggles. Half my fleet has Vista/polar setups, almost half the cost and WAY better low light performance than the O3, I don't think I could run an all O3 fleet. Unless they fix the low light performance and price on the O4 and/or add Vista support, the G3 will be a no go for me.
What do you guys recommend for those who are getting into FPV for the first time. So far I’ve used the sim for 20 hours. Got an Emax EZ pilot a week ago thinking about returning it and going digital. I’m thinking about just waiting until the 11th. I’m hoping that the googles with be compatible with O3 and have 120hz. If so I will definitely consider getting the Avata 2 as my first powerful drone.
For me I stopped using the Goggles 2 once I experienced it's increased latency with both legacy vistas and the O3 air unit. Let's also not forget the vistas range being slight reduced (46 MBPS when in front of me). IMO the best performing and most reliable DJI goggle is still the Goggles V2 (even better with WTFOS). The next goggle has to fix those issues or I will continue to fly what I have til everything dies.
Interesting about the latency. I've only got one O3, and 3 air unit lites / vistas. Thinking about ditching the o3 and just sticking with vistas so I don't have to deal with the u binding issues
@@MadfishFPV O3 latency much better on goggles V2 with a slight downgrade of video resolution. Vistas perform better obviously on V2 as well compared to goggles 2. Facts.
Great video, thanks. Typically for me (and thank you DJI) I just pulled the trigger on an Avata Explorer combo with the Integra goggles & purchased the flymore kit of batteries plus some extras! All in all over a grand down! .... hey ho. I agree with your comment on the RC 2 remote. Should be an option on the packs. Who the hell wants the love toy!!??
I'm always excited when a new product comes out, however, the real question is what more will it do for me? Maybe better range, but I don't do long flights (for my part), better image quality? I already have a gopro... yes Dji is a brand that pushes the competition to surpass itself (it has 80% of the market share). Again, this type of business is based on the money it can make and not on the community. That said , i'll try them but i'll keep my walksnail avatar because it already does it job perfect and evolve for the community before business. At least that's my opinion
The Avata for me is a Great exploration drone,,that being said, any wind blowing over 5 mph here in the states and my Avata goes into Tilt-A-World mode. I just wish they'd update the Dji FPV drone to fly 80 mph in GPS mode. Great info and content!❤
I had to comment and thank you for your words about the target audience for the Avata 2. Thanks for sticking up for people like me, who want the shot and not the rest! We are human too 🤣🤣❤
It looks promising but they need to work on a sub250 version. Also a non ducted version. 380g is not bad. I think other cinewhoops will still be better
Pretty cool. I like the design of the avata 2 with top props it looks lighter so I’m betting it flys much better. I have the og avata and still like flying it. I mostly use it for making other videos and getting shots I couldn’t normally. Exciting times. Great video take care.
Do I really want to toss out 7 vistas and my goggles V2 in favour of buying the goggles 3 and a bunch of 04 air units? I nearly bought the Goggles 2 and considered buying 03 air units but let's be fair - I'd be pretty pi**ed off now if I had. Why? Well because the price of the DJI 03 was very high and its lifecycle has been very short!. So what's the point of buying into 04 if I'm going to be looking at 05 in 18 months time??
Thanks buddy while it's only leaks very interesting, I fly the avata, and any improvements are of much interest. Hopefully, they can make the goggles 2 compatible as I think they are great. Keep up the good work 👍
Well... I'm personally very disappointed that the front cameras didn't look like googly eyes. Other than that... Ok... Anyway, thanks, Ian! 😊 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
looks like the fit of the new goggles is similar to the PS5 VR2 where the weight is on your forehead and the googles just sit below with a very soft rubber courtin' to close the light
New goggles wants: Higher bitrate Higher bitrate DVR Higher bitrate out to hdmi or usb Other features are not a reason to buy to replace Goggles 2. Like someone else mentioned, I suspect the forward cameras allow for LOS requirements without a spotter.
Is it powered ba a 4S or 6S battery? If it's less noisy, then probably only due to the reduced weight. Both these Avata's have 3" props. Awesome that the prop mounts now allow us to use all available 3" t-mount props. Looking forward to an O4 air unit.
I hope DJI fixes audience mode so we can bring other passengers with us using a second pair of goggles. Or just simply utilize the USB-C as a video out vs using the DJI Fly app off a phone.
The opening dig at DJI naming had me laughing out loud. They really should skip and call it Goggles 4. I won't be buying them unless/ until they support vistas.
Those goggles defiantly flip up. If you look in the top right you will see a military helmet. They are appealing to the wars starting to adapt FPV drones so they are making them easily to flip up or down like a pair of NVG(Night Vision Goggles). And there is a one way spring that when you flip it down it pushes the lower part towards your face to make sure you keep the screens in a fixed distance from eyes. Cant wait to get a pair of them.
@@terrybobb2191 I don't know dude I think you're 100% right. You can clearly see the hinge between the goggles and the strap and that is a tactical helmet in the background. The video passthrough kind of adds to that conspiracy as well since if you're in a warzone you'd probably want to maintain situational awareness, you see something in the camera and flip the goggles up to get a better look. I've heard the original Avata is really popular with Israel right now for clearing buildings and lets face it if they can sell to a military buying thousands upon thousands of them and needing to replace them even more often than fpv pilots it makes sense from a business standpoint to cater towards them. Also never believe a company that says they don't support military use, especially one that sells a ton to and has direct ties with the CCP.
It would be a great idea, but the physics of it does not work. The only way the hinge could keep the weight of the googles on that narrow piece of band would be if the band was lodged in your forehead.
This is what I want to know. Will we be able to use a controller with outside antennas for better performance or will we have to live with the motion controller?
for me it looks like it has tiny cameras next to the battery behind the drone, same on front sides from gimble to a litlebit backwerds. i feel like, they may be obstical avoidance cameras.
as always excellent job. Have to say I am disappointed there is no PINK version. See, I listen. Hope the weather is finally turning for the better, ENJOY SIR.
I wish someone would make a goggle that could support both digital, and analog, without the use of external modules, and allow the analog to be full screen, and max res of whatever the highest res analog cams can do. I’m using the DJI Goggles V2, with wildfire, works pretty good but the camera is higher res than the AV input can do, and the sides of the video are cut off, whether I select 4:3 or 16:9. Why can’t it be full screen??? Oh and this fairy tale goggle should cost less than $500.00
I just sold my bdi adapter, currently keeping my rapidfire module but bought second hand skyzone 04x goggles for £250. Guy threw in an elrs toothpick aswell lol
I mostly fly fixed wing FPV in combination with Powerbox traditional RC equipment so i relay hope that that DJI once more will bring us an air unit that will work without a flightcontroler. Please check that out for me when you lay your hands on the O4 Ian? And i would fancy a pink one...
How much is it going to cost? Is it going to support the Mavic 3 and when is it going to release ? … 😊 I am a bit concerned that 04 and Goggles 3 will take remote ID and Pilot identification to a whole new level… I guess we will wait and see. That’s for the info Ian !
using 04 osmos sensor on an AU would be lot better than the 03 AU sensor, it would be better for low light but certainly no starlights like other vendors. hopefully they do release an 04 AU; albiet the cost will kill my vibe lol
are they testing them alongside a military helmet????!!????? The new design of the strap seems easily removable to be used on the NVG mount of helmets. That's scary
I am one of those creatives that uses the Avata for professional work. This drone is amazing to fly indoors and in very close proximity to people. My biggest complaint has been the camera. It doesn’t have a good enough resolution, doesn’t record log and it is useless in any kind of low light. On the other hand, the lack of power (alone with the freaking our in manual if you turn too quick). Do you have any data on the power to weigh ratio?
It's always gonna be a gimmick. You need extra cameras for 'space tracking' to be able to float the window in space like on the Quest. The second part it would need a way higher res screens to do MR mode. So it will be the same crappy FPV small screen experience.. I would be more happy for DJI to finally allow connecting to the Quest like goggles instead paddling this goggles BS further if they can't even still beat the oldest V2's.
Remember when u wouldn't show your face in your older videos? lol just the desk n product look at, u know when u said about the old dji reminded me of watching your videos on the 1st gen dji Goggles n vtx
I did watch the live stream as I often do have it on, but I watched this bit again.. It’s annoying because DJI might win me over again with this. If its the same camera sensor as the Action4 with better dynamic range and low light performance, that combined with improvements to flight characteristics in acro could pretty much solve any Avata related issues I currently have. I’ll be selling 1 of 2 current Avatas ASAP (1 is a spare for work).. and may have to sell the other (and a kidney) when this is released. Reckon the v2’s would work with it if the 2’s are likely to? Ps. Just when I was thinking again about picking up some proper bind and flys soon ish 🙄 FFS
damn, now that is a full blown money grab right there.....monitor screens are the same, everything is the same except the new headband that holds goggles on your face and some cameras that are gimmick cameras, or IR sensors for a directional camera that moves same direction when you turn your head. at any rate, everyone hurry up and run oput and buiy these news ones so the rest of us have a legit reason to buy goggles 2 due to nice drop in price in both goggles and 03 air units :)
Mads claims in another comment reply they don't flip up but, you can clearly see the hinge. Maybe they'll have a mount for that helmet in the background of the first picture. I can see the reviews now where they test it on various military helmets lol.
@thirtythreeeyes8624 mount to the nvg mount? But all of the military vids I saw they were using analog. DJI trying to break into this market haha. They should remove the hard limit on distance
DJI's still going backwards on the goggles, IMO. The Goggles V2 were much superior, with their big immersive FOV, better optics and the fogging is even reasonably well controlled. Then suddenly they jumped back to those shitty little iPhone-at-3-feet-away sized screens with blurry rings around the edges like those awful Fatsharks from 15 years ago; it's beyond me why. I think their whole FPV tech is crippled by these crappy little goggles right now, even tho O3 and O4 are great advances in their video technology. I'm waiting it out to see if they go back to a decent goggle. Why not just put good 1080p panels in the V2s?. Still flying my 3 Potatos, O2 Air Unit equipped quads and Goggles V2's in the meantime.....
As someone building their first FPV drone.... now am conflicted. Wait for 04+Goggles3? Walksnail Moonlight? What's a good choice (can wait quite a bit if it means a longer-lasting purchase). What would you do in this market?
From the research I did before buying my first FPV a couple weeks ago, it seem people in FPV don't usually follow trends.. I have the O3+googles 2+controller 2 because I thought about getting into the hobby with the best image quality possible so I dont need to mount a gopro on my drones(I only do freestyle) and it feels nice to fly. That said, I think the wait for the O4 in the end of the year is a bit of a long wait for the possible small differences in quality and with all the restrictions they will possibly implement it it will be a pain to comply with all of that. The O3 is really good and mature product at this point and you will be happy with it. Maybe wait until they realease the O4 and buy the O3 at discount prices.
@@BlackSilence001I see. It may be wise to gravitate towards a 2nd hand o3+Goggles2 in that case...and just go from there...Will wait a few weeks to see the release date of the new system 1st
I fly fpv. I have to sets of goggles laying around. The analog one has an old module so i cant use it for racing. The other one is the walksnail v1. Its also less than usable for freestyle. Now i will be buying a 3rd system like o3 o4 or hdzero or both. How rediculus is that
im currently first of all looking for a rapidfire compareable module. theres some new but they are all not well tested. I have a fureousfpv and it was horrible at my first race@@jesseday6090
ehhh wtf I dont like how bulky it is now... they should have kept it like the goggles 2 but improve foam/rubber comfortablity and strap... this thing looks like extra weight..
You know... If that headband is much more comfortable... wonder if you could retro fit the G2's to use the same or similar system... because... as much of an improvement the "Comfy Foam" is... still half way there... but if they don't flip up... there is no way to lift them off your eyes... as in on your head... passthrough is a dumb joke, kneejerk reaction to Apple's...
