Great instructions. It worked perfectly fine for me. The tough parts are the ones to put back the flat cables to each of the conectores... for the ones like me that does not have a sharp sight any more it is a challenge. Thanks!!!

@@fixitwithjake Hi Jake, well I think I messed up somehow. I ordered the new battery and have had it for almost 2 months before I decided to change it. When I put the battery in it showed 17% charge. I fired up the system and then shut it down. I then turned it on to let the battery go down to zero. Then I charged it and it only charged back to the 17%. So I turned on several time to make sure it went down to 0% now its only charhing to 1% . Is there anyway I can fix this mess?

@@ScottHorvath1964 I would have them send you a new battery. Sounds like it is not you, but that the battery you received is either defective our outside calibration (cells inside are not balanced). If you have a lipo charger so you charge it up that way first and get all the cells balanced. But, I doesn't sound like anyting you did! Certainly these batteries sit for months before selling.They should be stored at 50-70%.

@@fixitwithjake Thanks for the reply. I have sent a note to the seller on ebay. That said I am wondering if you have a trusted seller that you can recommend. Thanks again, looks like I'll be watching your tutorial again lol. PS I did hit like.

Did you try the link in the video description for the AliExpress seller? Might take one or two extra weeks but they have the batteries in stock. The one in a link to looks like the price shut up but if you can always click on that link and then you can search from there for a very similar battery that’s much cheaper. m.aliexpress.us/item/3256804217445650.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.66261802FTUm9V&_randl_shipto=US&gatewayAdapt=Pc2Msite

This is a fantastic walk through. I do have one question though if anyone has experienced it. The right side of my controller heats up quite a bit and i havent chargred it yet. Display still giving 1%. Is this common for new batteries or is there something I'm missing? Its a new battery installed and the same outputs as the previous one.

Do you by chance know, wether the form factor of the battery for the mavic pro 1 and platinum is the same as this one? I really like the idea of having an additional amp-hour of capacity. Voltage is the same (close enough). Remotes look identical case wise and I'd be very surprised if the battery compartment was that much different.

It has been one year since the battery was replaced. I am seeing a little discharge when it sits for long periods of time. For example, if it sits for one month, it may go from 100% down to Aity and sit there. I am not sure why? If anyone knows please help out. But it is still significantly better than before and still a very usable remote, I just can’t let it sit for long period of time or the battery discharges inside the remote. I just wanted to give an update to viewers.

Hi can you say what problems could occur if I don't calibrate the battery in the end?
@fixitwithjake
@fixitwithjake Год назад
The remote won't know how much battery it has to use and the battery % on the screen will be inaccurate. It will cause all sorts of issues.

Sure sounds like a bad 🪫 battery that will no longer charge. I’d try replacing it. It try a few different cables and chargers first to rule that out. 🔌

If this in fact a Lipo, isn't it not recommended to discharge it all the way down to 0%?
@fixitwithjake
@fixitwithjake Год назад
That is how you calibrate the BMC for lipo batteries. Even Apple recommends you do this for their iphones and macbooks after a battery replacement. For phones, tablets and smartwatches: Charge it to 100% and keep charging it for at least 2 more hours. Use your device until it shuts off due to low battery. Charge it uninterrupted to 100%.

@@fixitwithjake when thebbattery connected to the board even its not used it drains it self. Is it the battery or the mainboard?
@fixitwithjake
@fixitwithjake 10 месяцев назад
You’ve done more testing then me. Sure sounds like the board is drawing some power while sitting then. Since you tested it plugged in and removed. If the battery is more then 2 years old I’d start with replacing it. From what I am hearing from you it sounds like there may be issues with parasitic draw on these remotes that drains the batteries while they’re sitting. But in the first year to do mine, never had any issues with a newer battery. But as the remote got older, I did have a bit of parasitic draw that the older battery could not handle for more than a week. Let us know if you learn more or a better solution.

Hello Jake. I got the same set of battery with tools and tapes as you showed. Once I connected the battery plug to the controller it showed for a very short time 25%. After that I connected all the cables as you showed and before putting back the hood I tested it again. I pressed the power button the surround of the screen lit up but no screen info. I pressed short long and the controller turned on and beeped. So I took it apart again. Reconnected the battery, but this time it screen lit up but no info of battery charge. Reasembled it again. Pressed the power button the screen did not lit up. I could turn the controller on but no screen. Hopefully you can help me figuring out what i missed? Thanks a lot
