I am personally in awe. I didn't think it would go through most of what I threw at it today. There was one point earlier in the day it stopped, but that was really quite the challenge going through some crazy bushes.

I teach an aeronautics STEAM class. I got the Mini 2 for my students. If it came out a little earlier (and was about the same price), I would love something to have obstacle avoidance for my students to use like the Mini 3. Thank you for sharing this to us. I’m still glad for getting the Mini 2 and I know my students will learn a great deal operating it. I’m just in awe of its obstacle avoidance when flying through the woods.

Still waiting till end of June for deliveries to Canada tho 🥺. Meanwhile I'm still enjoying my mini 2!! 🔥 Not even thinking to sell the 2 ever. So cool thanks for sharing your thoughts, I can’t wait to save up enough to get one, or I just might wait till I destroy my mini 2 which probably will never happen but it could. The tracking looked great, would work for my backpacking/hiking trails here in Washington state USA. Super thick forests with really tight trails. Can’t wait for some cinematic footage from you.

The active track with obstacle avoidance os insane! I honestly cannot believe how well it navigated almost everything and kept the camera stable and locked on you. Seriously impressive DJI was able to get all this tech in such a small package. Cannot wait for the future videos on the Mini 3 Pro!

I think that's why it overheats so quickly when it's not spinning its props, it's packed so full of tech that it needs airflow like the modern action cameras. I am blown away it went through some of what I ducked through yesterday as I flew 2 batteries before and it really made some incredible passes.

@@PhillipSkraba Finally! Someone else who doesn't like the Air 2s so much. I hardly ever fly my Air 2s because the Mini2 is so much more convenient and easy. But now the Mini3 is totally awesome. Will be getting one for sure.

F A N T A S T I C ! Would be interested in the audio setup Phillip....I tried to create a video with A2S and the sound of the drone was louder than me and i'll have to revert to my fixed camera but I seem to walk about too much for that.

The RC is okay in the sun, it's not amazing. At 700 nits it's more a practicality than a high performance screen. The new iPhone 13 Pro Max has 1200 nits from what I see, mine has 800 nits, so at 700 nits, it's just okay. The drone itself though, that's a beast.

Great video. This is so far the best active track video I've seen from Mini 3. If they do add via firmware the ability to adjust sharpness contrast and saturation we can get much more out of it. Dropping down contrast means more dynamic range and ability to drop down saturation we can push colours back in post Well done

It does an excellent job, the M2P is great, but it's tracking mode is nowhere near as smooth. This was a very hard test for it, I'll make sure to put it in more "normal" situations in my next tests. I just felt it needed some deep water to start off.

@@PhillipSkraba yeah i see..but its worth the watch for me, a potential buyer later on in the year although active tracking wont influence my purchase..pure quality of image will plus stability of the drone and app..to be honest i still see the active tracking a little jerky🤔..not really cinematic imho, maybe editing can extract smoother parts..BUT, is is impressive it can follow through there i,ll give it that..its just im sure it,ll do true killer cinematic shots at amazing locations, but then to have some scenes mixed in where its having to compute round branchs( wich it can do,sometimes hesitantly)its gonna look out of place maybe..active tracking out in the open of course is different animal i guess

It's a very stable drone. The tracking is actually very good, but I put it basically in the worst place possible. I think in a less challenging situation it will do a superb job, as you said, it will be completely different animal. As for image quality, it's very nice. I'll keep on testing it and we'll see what updates come.

I think Skydio does a good job tracking, but it does a horrible, horrible, horrible job when it comes to cinematics. DJI drones seem to really have cinematics taken care of, a couple of tweaks and this thing will be fire 🔥

I don't really enjoy it tracking me from the front as it doesn't know where I'm going, so it follows its own path instead of mine. It would be impossible for it to read my mind and know I want to go left when I want to go right. Side tracking and parallel is great, but front tracking will always loose unless you're in a wide open space.

Thank You. Well, I'd say the same as your average smartphone. The RC Pro is definitely brighter, the Mini 3 RC I'd say is more convenient than top notch, at 700 nits it's 100 nits darker than my iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Very nice video! to bad the screen recording for the RC is extremely low....DJI should improve this immediately. This is a resolution we have seen in technology 15 yrs ago. Next I truly wonder when to use this tracking you showed in the video....its mostly tracking from behind of course. But with a 360 camera on a selfiestick you can achieve the same drone shots from all angles. Or what is your opinion?

Thanks! Yes, it's HD Ready resolution. To an extent you're right, but the Insta360 camera looks very different to this, it has a kind of GTA look, whereas a drone you can pull back a lot further than a 360 camera, not to mention fly away.

You can alter it Steven, so I can pull back, push forward, go up and down, as well as tilt the camera. It's a fair amount of adjustment, but it feels a little numb when you're trying to adjust it.
