DJI OSMO ACTION 4 - Horizon Balancing and Horizon Steady TUTORIAL

In this video I'll be going over the differences between Horizon Balancing and Horizon Steady on the DJI Osmo Action 4. Also, explaining which scenario to use them in and how to locate them.
With Horizon Balancing make sure you don't exceed 45 degrees and the horizon will always stay level. And with Horizon Steady you'll be able to rotate the Action 4 360 degrees whilst the horizon stays level. Crazy I know.
One thing to keep in mind thought, you'll get a slight wobble in the footage when the camera exceeds 90 degrees in this mode.

This came up in a search for "ultra-wide' so I watched it just in case. Great example of calm clear demonstration. In anticipation of more the same I will sub now, then go through you library. Thanks for doing this, saved me time and patience for sure.

FYI, one think I'm struggling with as as a noobie is getting my audio levels right. I have a Action 4 and Rode 2. But I don't know what im doing as far as how to make sure I've got the right levels, especially since I don't have a trained ear for this sort of thing. I saw someone using a sound graph but I wouldnt even know where to start with that - i.e which software to use etc. If you ever did a video to cover this and help us get the right settings, I'd be very interested.

3:28 However in the app Horizon steady is selectable with 4k 60, just not in the camera menu. I still don't get it. And yes I have turned the cam upside down while rec 4k60 and vid doesn't budge.

Doesn't switching from "rock steady" to "horizon balancing" negatively effect image stablization - is it usable when motorcycling?

Great video! Using rocksteady+ running with a chest mount I get a lot of sway left to right, any advice to correct this? Also, running with a selfie stick and needing stability and horizon balancing, which would you suggest, rocksteady+, horizon balancing or horizonsteady?

@@CarlTheAmateurRunner Tricky that is as running with this camera won't be perfect. Rocksteady+ is the most stable but it crops in and horizon balancing wont correct the shake so I would stick with rocksteady+

Thanks for this quick and clear explanation Lee. Do you have any advice for reducing bouncy looking videos when walking? I have my OA4 attached to my back pack (I want my hands free so a gimbal is not an option for me). Even stabilisation and slowing the footage in post doesn't seem to help. Cheers

Thanks for watching. The ninja walk is the only way to stabilize walking footage if it's attached to someone/something handsfree it's going to have bounce in the footage unfortunately
