Thanks Adnrea! I appreciate that. Just in case I don't get to make a detailed comparison, I can tell you that RS2 is very sensitive to zoom lens and changing weights. Touch screen is helpful, but not as responsive and accurate as I like for run and gun shoots. Also if you have the Raveneye and zoom motor, the battery drains very fast. During a wedding shoot, the gimbal only lasted 5 hours. Those are the things you probably won't find on RU-vid already. There are lot of videos about features but not many of them talking about the compromises. Hope that helps!

Thanks so much! They both have their advantages and disadvantages. If you interchangeable lens camera is going to be Sony, then I do want to remind people that Sony cameras do not let you preview the shot on the LCD while HDMI cable is connected to a monitor (basically the RS2 mini screen). Kinda defeats the cool feature of the RS2 and instead becomes cumbersome. Crane 2S has some drawbacks also. I have two videos about it ;)

So basically if you want to preview your shot while Raveneye is connected, your preview will end up coming through the tiny screen on the RS2, which you can't really see to check your shot. You have to disconnect the HDMI cable each time. It's not really DJI's fault. Just one of the Sony thing. Crane 2S does have the Image Transmission module package, but it requires you to connect it via an app to have lot of the functions.

Dear @@SePark what are you thin about your body-weightpoint: is it possible that while are you right handed, you could do more stabilised work with a two-handed instrument on your right side than your left? Because it's much more concise and the osciliation should be less there.

If it's possible, could you repeat the "test" by changing the sides?

Hey Danny, thanks man! To answer your other question, for a6600 Weebill S is a better fit. You would only consider Crane 2S if you want to scale up to a full frame camera in the near future. As for RSC2 vs Weebill S, I made a similar comparison 2 videos before this one, but it will come down to your budget. Both will handle a6600 easily. Hope this helps along with my RSC2 vs Weebill S video.

@@itsdannyftw if the budget is not in consideration at all, it will just come down to - answering are you okay with built in battery? are you okay with only having 3 modes at a time? (excluding flash light mode - so for example on RSC2 you can have PF, POV, and PTF on the "M" button. If you need to recall any other mode, you have to go back and program it. Where as Weebill S has access to all gimbal modes via 3 buttons). If the answer is "yes" to both, RSC2 is your choice. Also this isn't enough to make or break the decision, but the "underslung mode" is superior on Weebill S. That fold up mode in RSC2 looks cool, but not really practical since it takes forever to fold back. If you don't care much about doing the underslung mode, we're back at RSC2!

If I was thinking of getting a full frame camera in future, would you say getting both the Weebil + Crane 2S is overkill? Because at the same time I want something nimble /light for travelling or vlogs, and not sure if you'd get tired of the 2S after a day trip. What are your thoughts? Thanks so much again!

Thanks man. Zhiyun auto tune calibration is also very conservative. RS2 “super smooth mode” and Crane 2S “high motor” setting is probably the closest thing to a practical upper motor strength comparison. But you’re right, both of these gimbals have some head room in motor power. If I increased one, I would have to do the same for the other.

This is accurate. I remember Ronin M! I loved it minus the stand. LOL. Crane 2S is like Crane 2 who worked out on steroids.

I may also make the rig wider and try to center the gimbals towards the middle more. They are inches apart at the camera center of gravity but I could get maybe 2 inches closer. Hey Matias, I personally could not remove the arm because the screw stripped. I have heard however that will make the gimbal slightly less stable. Which makes sense since just for simple roll, both the roll motor and tilt motor has to work together to counter it. I recommend people not remove the extra arm to go 45 degrees. Oh that's the footage of gimbal auto calibration. DJI gimbals shakes the camera to sense the weight balance. However, how did you know that was one of the things I wanted to improve on this rig? I actually felt that Crane 2S wobbled a little more than the RS2 during this test because Crane 2S is extremely heavy compared to RS2. Since most gimbals have a 1/4-20 mounts on the side, I'll probably use a magic arm to have one more point of contact. Great suggestion! Thanks!

​@@SePark Wood is usually a flexible material with a lot of give. I guess the DJI shake is intentional (haven't bought any gimbal yet, but planning to so thanks for the videos!), but that shake was in my opinion hinting that it didn't have optimal support. I'm guessing you could force the horizontal beams on this frame to bend 1-2 CM up/down if you put your foot on the bottom and pulled/pushed with a few kilos of force at the top one. If you installed a metal square pipe profile or u-profile over the bottom beam that you connected the bases of the gimbals to, you'd probably reduce the amount of springiness of the wood and the gimbals would have a firmer base... but it wouldn't really change much because it's still standing on one leg. A Magic arm to the side sounds like a solution that will give you 2-3 times as good results. The next thing that in my opinion would potentially improve your rig after that, would be to find a way to stabilize the Z-Axis of your then stabilized X and Y axes. Then you'd need to add another frame behind the gimbals to hook up behind them. I don't know if the result would be worth the added weight though. X and Y stabilization would be a big improvement on its own.

I thought me putting in a identical camera rig setup in a home made cage was extreme enough. This test just keeps getting more expensive! You know I gave my extra Crane 2S away on a giveaway. Good question David! To certain extent, it's mostly just raw motor power. Side by side, Crane 2S has a much bigger motor, and both at full motor power, you can feel the torque difference. Yes, if the firmware set the motor more aggressively so when it auto calibrates, it overshoot what is considered normal operation, technically RS2 could close in that gap at 70mm. I don't think they will since over powering a motor results in gimbal vibrating especially during underslung mode. I tried the second RS2 firmware they just released. It's smoothness is about the same, but it did get rid of the constant error message suggesting that I need to calibrate my gimbal again when you zoom the lens.

Hey Jeremy I think so too. The roll motor algorithm somehow has a harder time making the gimbal stable. That's why the original Crane was much more stable than the Weebill Lab. Thank goodness for the flip out screen with my Crane 2S tho... LOL

Haha, right! Motor size on the Crane 2S is almost ridiculous as this test. The Raveneye with little video monitor on the gimbal is so next thing. My only thing was hoping DJI will put zoom/focus motor control directly alongside with the image transmission from the phone app so you can see the image while you pull zoom\focus. Haha but yeh, gimbal game all the sudden got exciting.

I welcome these comments! Seriously dude, it helps me to think differently and make things better. The gimbals were mounted on a Manfrotto 500 plate system which is quad screwed into a 2X4. There is no give on this thing. I went heavy on the bottom build for this reason. If this was little weaker, Crane 2S would shake more because it is top heavy with much bigger motors. This does give some ideas for next test if it involves the Crane 2S. Thanks for watching man!

I based my comment on watching your original build of the frame, and though I understand what you mean, I was referring more to the wobble caused by the lack of a direct firm grip which you can even see in your original video (of the 2s vs the ronin s) at around 2:09 I have no bias here as I don't own either and only have experience with the ronin S and crane 2, but am definitely in the market for either of these so it's also in my best interest to have a fair winner haha :):)

I did want to do this series as a elimination style video until the one before this one where DJI RSC2 barely beat Weebill S. Anything vs Crane 2S is like watching a football game score 31 to 3. :)

I had a 10 hour shoot for a client with the same gimbal that week. It worked fine. These are some extreme tests. Despite how it looks on screen it didn't do bad. Comparing the data from my first mathematic gimbal test, RS2 did better than the first gen Ronin S.

Hey Tim, I respectfully disagree with part of this. The margin of error actually is greater if the gimbals were tested with a ninja walk. The pixel shift difference is smaller, whereas if you push the gimbal towards the motor limit, then the delta between the two is greater. If I just told thousands of people Crane 2S is smoother than the RS2 just by showing you some comparison b-roll footage, some people will call that bias. Nothing wrong with that. I just wanted to provide people different tests for them to decide. Crane 3 Lab on the other hand, yes it had motor power but the algorithm wasn't very good. You could call it rough around the edges and not graceful. So that part I agree. They improved the algorithm tremendously on Crane 2S.

​i see what you mean, but you know maybe i'm a hater of zhiyun... I just really disrespect that they release top gimbal and after maybe a half of a year i dont remember they release new gimbal with "new algorithm" but my is still sucks and they hasn't firmware update to this new algorithm previous models... its such a bummer to buy top product to realise that the company give a shit to customers. And even new gimbals have same ergonomic issues as previous that really disturb opportunity to use they products as pro tools. I like new design of crane 3 and 3s but that huge battery holder and grip and same as on 2s battery compartment that i cant detach breaks flexibility and i pushed to use zhiyun products only one way. All of that really makes me despite of better stabilization thinks i will not prefer zhiyun over dji

Hey Giannis, haha it's not that RS2 is not stable. It's that Crane 2S motor is insanely smooth. The technology that went into RS2 is incredible. I'm sure you'll make the best of what you have. You also won't have a sore arm after a day of filming. LOL
