Your secondary concerns are extremely valid dk. By far our biggest question mark on defense. Even if we have 2-3 quality players you need more then that to have a good secondary

Porter absolutely proved himself last year, essentially shutting down some of the best receivers in the league. Can he improve on some things? Of course, he was a rookie, but that just makes it more exciting. He IS going to get better.

Beanie was spectacular at WVU. He was slept on as one of the top CBs in the nation. Led the nation in passes defended and pass breakups in 2023 and was WVU's third leading tackler as well. He was also a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik award.

I have the utmost belief in JPJ, being able to shut down the recievers he did in his rookie campaign. I can't wait to see what his sophomore jump looks like this season.

With an improved LB core I feel JPJ and our backs will benefit. They can concentrate more on coverage and ball hawking as the front 7 should be more capable to deal with the run. I think JPJ is a more intelligent and calculated player than his dad and in time will bring some of that porter nastiness to elevate his game!!!

JPJ will be as good as the work he puts in. He has shown he can do it. He kept getting better all season. There is a lot to look forward to.

JPJ is good, but still has alot to prove and even bigger shoes to fill to be as impact full as his father was. Top of the morning DK and Steeler Nation

JPJ and his rookie season has been awesome. He does need to improve, on tackles and penalties. He has done very well, and I believe he will continue an upward trend. He will get the job done. Beanie Bishop Jr. and his ability as a Corner Back. Blocked plays and interceptions. I can hardly wait DK. Show us a little of or a lot of what these rookies have. Thank you DK good one.

JPJ was dominant as a rookie and that is rare! Another slot option could be Anthony Everette he did it for the Ravens and that season they finished 3rd vs the pass

I'm hoping that he has learned what his negatives were as a Rookie and can turn them into positives. If he can do that, then his ceiling will continue to grow. I wish Jr the best!

8:00 “It’s Beanie, babyyyyy!!!” - I yelled at the screen, each and every time he made a play last season, which happened so often my tone transitioned from just in defense of one of our guys, of whom the broadcast crews made a point of saying was our biggest liability, to the. Mike Hilton type “too small” or my favorite “they want to throw the ball his way” Yet from the beginning to far beyond the first few weeks these fools couldn’t get the words out of their mouths before he would prove them wrong by making a significant stop on defense. I’m telling yall, the world needs to see a game by game super cut of the analysis vs the reality of how good of a player he is. I promise you the footage is there. The Bishop averaged no less than 4, probably closer to 5 “ITS BEANIE BABY!!!”/game, in addition to begging the opposing playcallers to please keep trying him, to which they did. Looking at yall, OC’s of the Big 12, lol. So Beanie Baby’s, thanks fellas, not mention how much enjoyed throwing those same Hilton-esque criticisms back at the broadcast crews. Not until t the end of the year when and was far and away the NCAA leader PDs, and had killed more drives than I can remember did the narrative finally start turn, SO to Herby being better late than never and the OCs for being never. Our secondary took major hits in the first few weeks, so he not only made plays in the slot, he spent the majority of the Big 12 slate making plays on the outside, and deep, and against the best the Big 12 had to throw at him. Which they did, lol. This is all on tape, I’m not exaggerating when I say it was as near as perfect of a season I’ve ever witnessed from a CB. Easily the most fun to root for, and by some miracle our Steelers signed him as a UDFA. Woe to all who doubt Beanie Bishop Jr. and welcome to the fan club Steeler Nation! Btw, this is my BBJ soapbox, feel free to use it whenever you like. I love to hear it! This rant itself being inspired by your well informed and I believe spot on comp to Hilton. I’d like to add another similarity to back you up here, and it’s that their work ethic and ability to get better in meaningful ways was there before the doubters, we thank them for it, but it’s always been the progression which has inspired the doubt. And every step in the way, they prove that they have indeed put in the work. Hilton growing into one of the all time best blitzes from CB was an incredibly fun revelation to witness. And even as he continued to make plays against us, we didn’t hate it. Unwavering respect for Hilton, and the plays he made in black and gold, and lord willing and the creek don’t rise Steelers Nation will be saying the same of Beanz, but let there be no doubt he has already earned that respect from his time in Gold & Blue. I have to admit, I usually hate comps, imo some it’s the laziest analysis. Name drop bullish, but whats right is right. And when you do the work day in and day out, you see results like this…What’s this? IT’S DK Baby!!! Here we go! Cue Country Roads!

I can't believe people are questioning JPJ. Sure he isn't a finished product, but I think he's one of the most immediately impactful rookies we've had, and only will improve from here. Hopefully he gets some help from the other young guns in the secondary this year!

I swear, sometimes people are just contrary to be contrary. JPJ also did not show up to training camp his rookie season in NFL shape. Beannie Bishop is fun to say, like when Barry Bonds bunted down the baseline in Boston. 😊

DK, remember all criticism the HC was getting for "easing" the rookies into the fire of an NFL season, i believe that gave JPJ time to work on his tackling and he STILL was a finalist for DROY! U said he added 10 pounds, I'm sure that's 💪 so excited for his growth which of course is a REASONABLE EXPECTATION 😂

I think the secondary is a strength. Trice and Rush are going to be good Corners and no offense to Kaze and Pat P, these guys are fast. JPJ is a shut down Corner. Just look at the numbers.

First, I love JPJ. I believe he will become a great, well rounded, corner. However, it is easy to look good when your opponents throw away from you because you are the best CB on the field. JPJ WILL be great, but is it this year or will it be next year or maybe the year after?

I became a JP guy after watching JP take a physical beating and bullying by DK but he was mentally strong enough to remain competitive and JP won the battle in the end. I can imagine all that bullying from DK also inspired JP to add a little more weight

The question is, how much better did the doubter expect JPJ's rookie season to go? We have a reason to expect great thing regardless of who's son he is.

The only thing that JPj needed to do was get stronger because Metcalf gave him some work😂....other than that, Porter Jr. Is already one of the young stars in the game.... and he looked bigger and stronger at mini-camp! We complain too much here in Pittsburgh both fans and even some local sports media members 🙄 smh

Bishop being from WV you know Tomlin knows everything about this kid. And when I say everything I mean everything. Tomlin has connections in WV we all know this. I would not be surprised to see Bishop in the slot

If he makes all pro I have a signed set of spikes his father signed one side and wore in 2 games. I will ask jpj to sign the opposite side. Lets develop!!

I don't think Bishop is the guy. Tomlin doesn't like Rookies to start unless your pro bowl future talent like JPJ. Rush would be my guess.
