Back after a small break for round 3 of DMAX Superchamps! This week it was the GP format taking place on the alternate track layout.
Qualy P4 Lap (47.273) - 00:00
My qualy session didn't start off well. The kart started cutting out on the first flying lap, so I decided to bring it into the pits at which point the engine shut off completely and I had to coast to a stop in the pitlane. The Daytona staff quickly swapped me into a spare kart and I was back out onto the circuit. The pace and kart felt good and I managed to set the 4th fastest laptime for the shooutout.
Shootout (P4 ~ P10) - 00:51
Similar to round 2 my race start wasn't great, something that I need to work on a bit for the remaining rounds. I lost a couple of places off the start and unfortunately lost the back end of the kart into T6 sending me into a half spin. I managed to rejoin the race almost straight away and found myself down in 13th place. At this point it was a recovery drive to get back to the top 10 to score some championship points. The pace was feeling good and I did manage to work my way up to P10, however it all started to go wrong as I was hunting down P9. Once again my kart started to cut out coming out of certain corners, but I was able to come off and on the throttle to keep it going until the chequered flag and maintain position. At this point the kart would not accelerate and I came to a stop on the exit of T3, a walk back to the pits it was!

I set the 7th fastest lap time in the shootout to line up P7 on the grid for the final. Race start was once again poor, I lost a couple of places into T1 and then a further few places as I got squeezed out in T2 towards the tyres. Now on my 3rd kart I was trying to get up to speed with it quickly and felt comfortable almost straight away with good pace. I started battling back through the pack and an early full course yellow helped bring me back into contention. After the yellow there was some good racing for position which ultimately ended up costing me too much time to make a podium challenge. But once I had cleared the karts in front, myself and Luka were lapping consistently and were catching P1 - P3. We just ran out of laps at the end before we were able to catch them.
Overall an average round for me, some bad starts and some unfortunate incidents put me down the order in each race, which I will work on for round 4 but the overall pace was good.
