Do Californians feel welcome when they move to Idaho? 

I have lived in Northwest Arkansas all my life, about 20 years ago a nice older couple asked me for directions During our conversation they told me that they had just moved to the area from California. They were so happy to be away from all of the crowded cities and over regulation, in the same breath they said “but there really need to be some laws about the old junk cars and equipment that were on a nearby farm” I looked at them and politely stated that that if they wanted that to happen then they should probably move back to California. I pointed out that we were in a rural area and some of that “junk” might actually be operable and used daily (my farm truck runs just fine but it looks pretty bad because of my cattle) If you are from California and moving to another state you need to leave California ideas in California

Okay so you leave California because it's a craphole due to liberal policies, but then vote the same way in the state you move to. To me that is the definition of insanity. Doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome.

I am born and raised here. I’m welcome to growth, but the thought of people turning Idaho into California scares me to my core. When I come back from college, I want to be able to live in Boise for a cheap enough amount.

If you move out of a State because of the costs or the political ideals..don't bring those failed ideals with you. Simple.

I’ve been an Idahoan all my life, and it’s really annoying to get all these rich snobs overpopulating once beautiful and peaceful cities like Coeur d Alene, or Rigby, these are still small towns, and they’re constantly crowded and overpopulated with a bunch of rich douchebags who try to pay their way through everything. After living in Portland, OR for 4 years and watching CA people move in I can already tell you that the good things that people in Idaho are used to will get eroded. Here's what you'll start to notice. 1. traffic (with highly aggressive drivers) 2. the places you used to go now have way to many people so you stop going to them. 3. housing prices will go up exponentially. 4. you will start to look elsewhere to escape them because they tend to move in and impose their ways. If you don't believe me ask anyone from Oregon or even Washington. It's real.

I live in Idaho and what I am seeing is just upsetting. I always try to be polite to new comers but at this point i'm done with that. The invasion of the Californians have raised our property taxes, and the price of living so much that many of our neighbors are leaving because they cant afford to keep living here. They are literally driving us out.

The real question is: Will Californians agree to, and become Idahoans when they cross the border. Here in Colorado, they seem to bring much baggage that got their home state in trouble in the first place, plus, they bring "the attitude" . .

Idaho won’t be so welcoming after the California culture takes root.

If you want to see how it will end up, go to Bozeman, Montana. It's turning into a complete mess up there because of California implants.

I am in a trade that relies on a good economy and people transplanting. The problem with most of the Californians who move here is they hated where they came from bad enough to move but as soon as they get to idaho they try to change it to be like the shit hole they came from. We don't want micro regulation on everything.

My family has a lake cabin on an island in northern Idaho... almost every other lot besides ours, which my family have owned since the 60s has been infested by californians. They have started an HOA, tried to get us to paint our place, complained about us cutting down trees on our property and many other things. Would LOVE for them to go back.

I wish they would all go away. Don’t want the congestion, the crime, the land being developed everywhere. They are buying up local’s dreams because they have more money. Growing up here I have worked in this economy, so the push living here has made it difficult to keep up. They say they aren’t trying to take over, but they are, and just because they are nice, doesn’t mean we are overjoyed for more “nice” people. I love it when they talk to you like they did you a favor by moving here. Hint:you didn’t. Just.go.away.

I live in Oregon and Washington. Both used to be moderate, just-right-of-center states. No longer. The culture changed because of people moving in, who bring with them the problems that drove them out of wherever they came from. The build it up, price it up, trash it up, flark it up.

They like that Idaho is cheaper but they are going to bring their politics and change it.

Yeah it's cheaper, but since so many of them are moving here, native Idahoans are finding it hard to afford anything because the prices are rising

Boise doesn’t want to become California. It wasn’t really noticeable at first, it was nice that Boise was finally relevant but now it’s scary. The price of homes significantly have increased, there is more traffic/accidents. Californians should know Boise is not used to change this fast. We will be welcoming, we say thank you and please and hello, make eye contact and take time for conversation. We don’t really honk at people, that’s considered rude, or drive through stop signs like they don’t exist. I think we just want to make sure Boise is still Boise, like just embrace our ways.

Buying homes next to farms and ranches then trying to pass petitions to keep the farmers from doing their thing. You move here, you need to embrace it. Farm equipment makes noise, and kids ride horses down the street. And horses poop. We don't need more leash laws either. If you can get over that, then......

I have a friend who lives in Boise that says their area is getting trashed by people moving in from California-not only the landscape but the the whole conservative lifestyle .

Just a matter of time before amnesia sets in as to why they left California.

I'm not even from Idaho or California (I'm from Florida) but I really sympathize with Idaho. It has been uninterrupted for decades and now it is being affected by idiots trying to ruin the state.

Am I an Idahoan or am a Californian? I was born at St Al’s in 59, but when I was 4 my dad went back into the Navy after my sister was born. When my older brother finished the first grade we packed up and moved to San Diego. As I went through school in various cities in CA from San Diego to the Bay Area and then back down to the LA area, when my dad was transferred to a ship home-ported in Long Beach. I started and finished high school in the same school. About 10 days later I was on my way to boot camp at MCRD in San Diego. I spent 6 years in the Marine Corps then 6 ½ years in the Navy, in 82 I was medically discharged from the Navy and came home to Idaho for good. So am I or ain’t I an Idahoan.

Dont move from CA to ID. I am so glad I have upgraded vehicle insurance. My car window was broken 4 times last year. As soon as I have enough savings in going to Washington. Washington is beautiful.

People are leaving Illinois for Kentucky and Missouri and infecting it with their idiotic politics as well. They ought to either adapt to the culture they live in or get out.

As a Californian moving to Idaho, seeing all the CA hate in the comments gives me hope. Change your laws now while you have the majority to ban new laws that the Californians will inevitably bring with them/us. There are places in Boise that, when I'd drive through, I couldn't tell if I was in Boise or Los Angeles anymore. They came in and raised housing prices so high that you can't afford to live anymore, not to mention the implants like to throw around that they're from California and they didn't do things there how we do things in Boise. So I said screw it, sold my house to some of them and moved 2000 miles away to a place that I can afford. No traffic here, you can rent a 3 bedroom house for under $600 a month and people actually understand what being neighborly means.

Its expensive in idaho now as a native Idahoan. When my customers in eagle say its cheap. I can not hardley afford rent now because pay in idaho is so low and rent so high.

Its sad really...we have a bad californian problem in Nashville. There are more californians than native Nasvhillians. They raise house prices, they change the culture, they change the politics, they change the values. We live here because of our conservative values and they come here, hold protests and scream words of hate toward our "intolerance" and we are supposed to accept it. I've seen sooo many natives get displaced from their homes in Nashville and move 30 miles out just to maintain. We visited Boise recently with hopes of moving and saw this amazing landscape and almost emotional beauty just to then run into the hoards of Californians downtown talking bad about the locals. I feel your pain Idaho. :(

Not all Californian’s are crazy liberals. The large majority of the real Northern California are Republicans. I say real Northern California because the loony left who occupy the Bay Area call themselves from Northern California, which we want no part of. My dad lives in Idaho and he tells me stories all the time of locals who honestly believe that every Californian is a liberal and that Ca gets no snow. When I can drive 30 minutes in the winter and be standing on 10-20’ of snow. I do understand the grieve of Idahoans not wanting more dems moving in and bringing the liberal craziness. Our small county of Tehama gets whackos from the Bay Area morning up here all the time. Then they want to lecture us on how superior they are because they are from the “bay area”. Liberalism is a disease.

I was born in Spokane but grew up in California. The state is a miserable failure and the majority of voters seem to vote for the kind of crap that is making it miserable. I am one who has considered relocating to Idaho. But, there is a problem with the areas which are nice, scenic and hospitable, they draw in all of the left-leaning whacko liberals that were drawn to beautiful places like the Bay Area, Big Sur and Monterey Bay. I now have second thoughts about relocating to Idaho BECAUSE of all the Californians who are moving there. They are who I want to get away from. And BTW, the gal at 1:56 may live in Idaho, but the short-cropped hair and the peace sign earrings is all California.

I'm from California and I've been thinking about moving to Idaho since I was 14. My family has lived near LA for over 100 years, and it's just too darn liberal and full of transplants. Rich people from mainland China have rapidly moved in, and now form the vast majority where I live, and have driven up property values insanely. For that reason, I understand how Boise natives, and Idahoans, are feeling. My aunt was born in McCall and grew up in Boise during the 60s. She is sick of Californians, and others, moving in. I can't blame her, I don't want too many Californians moving in either. Most Californians aren't even Californians, they are recent arrivals, that's why the state has become so darn liberal in the past 30 years. It used to actually lean conservative as recently as the 80s. Anyways, I want to move to Idaho but I don't want to be part of a trend pissing off the locals. The last time I visited, I was told to say that I was from south of Meridian. I don't want to leave a place where my family has such deep roots either, but heck, half the people here think that I'm from out of state since I'm White and not insanely liberal. Also, the guy from Eden saying that they need more diversity, yeah that seems really shortsighted to me. They need to preserve local culture. Heck, people are leaving California because it has lost it's culture, diversity is not the solution to everything. P.S. I have never voted for a Democrat, except when there were only Democrats on the ballot.

Let's all as Idahoans admit that a lot of Californians underestimate the wild life here bad end of dying or hurt making them want to leave or stay. When winter comes calling they start leaving.

This is what happened here in Colorado. Word got out about it being such a nice place to live. Pretty soon all kinds of Californians were moving in and bringing all of their horrible politics with them. Now Colorado housing is much more expensive than it was 4 or 5 years ago and it's overall just not that great anymore (I've lived here my entire life) traffic is horrendous now too. Looks like Idaho is next 🤦 RIP.

I once was told that dairy farmers from California were relocating to Idaho; this was in 1997 when I was living in Jackpot, Nevada it’s a small casino town about 50 miles from Twin Falls, Idaho.

They're flooding into Nevada as well.

They made Boise my Boise, a sanctuary city. If that's not bringing in their crummy politics i don't know what is!!!!

They've also been moving to WA in droves too (they tend to move right back when they realize just how overcast and drizzly it can be in western washington

I live in TN and there seem to be a lot moving here. The conservatives, sure...welcome. But regretfully there are also a bunch of liberal, cowardly 'oh my god, you guys and your guns' type who want us all to eat that sh*tty organic health food (yeah...I know we should, but bacon tastes good y'all) who may bring their attitudes here instead of adapting. We don't need their attitude ruining my state the way they ruined their own.

Everyone should feel "welcome" when they move to a new State. But if your political ideologies dont match with your new State, dont try to change the people around you. You, yourself should change. If you have liberals views, stay on the coast. Dont move inland and think you can tell people what you think is wrong with them.
