The fact that foam and foam cannons are just flat out fun to use should not be overlooked either. Life is short, enjoy yourself man! *Let it foam baby!! Let. It. Foam.* 😁😁
Agreed. However this comment confirms to me that if you have a light-colored car ---> say tan, grey or white a powered rinse is more than sufficient. Especially if you wash your car regularly.
Great video and excellent taste in music! As a Canadian, I love “The Hip” as we call them. 🇨🇦 “50 Mission Cap” and “Wheat Kings” are my 2 favourite songs! Thank you for the informative videos!
You know you're a car guy when you just spent 7 minutes listening to a guy explain why pre-foaming a car is superior than just pre-rinsing with water...
It is just nonsense!!! the car doesn't come clean by using a foam cannon but you get to waste lots of time and money. This announcer has no common sense nor logic.
Scott, thanks for the great explanation and logical thought behind foam cannons! Not too long, and to the point! I just watched another video yesterday that almost had me convinced to pass on getting one, but you’ve put the logic back into it’s purpose for me. And like many said in the comments already, it just looks like fun to use! I mean, come on, it’s called a CANNON! Lol 👍🏼🚙
Tragically Hip were definitely one of the greats. Huge in Canada, but never got their due in the US. I’m in L.A., but it’s nice to know their great music was appreciated in Dallas too. I really miss those guys: “I looked up to the Gord above and said, hey man thanks.” Thank you too Scott. Keep making the great videos and great products!
Nice shout out man didnt see that coming.. Canadian here from BC. Have seen Hip live 5 times or so. Gift shop is great. Thompson Girl and as wind down pines personal fav. Thx for vid and insight.
I like foam cannons just to get a good coverage so there is enough lubrication between the wash mitt and the panel, world of difference from using the bucket method. I love your 6 wash mitt video, completely sold me on the idea.
Demon Hunter is one of my favorite bands to listen to while detailing, and doing pretty much anything else really. They have a good blend of melody, energy, heaviness, solid lyrics, and not to mention that Ryan's vocals are amazing, especially in the later albums. A Fear I Used to Know, and Someone to Hate have been stuck in my head for the past week 😅 can't complain though 🤘 Great video as always Scott, I'll try foaming first when I get a pressure washer this summer and see how it goes :)
This makes a helluva lot of sense. I’ve sold appliances for 13 years. In our annual training, the trainers made a HUGE point about a problem that was occurring in the dishwasher industry- People were pre-rinsing their dishes and claiming that dishes were not being cleaned properly. They wanted us to drill into customers that they are NOT..TO..Pre-rinse dishes, but to simply scrape the dish, then place it into the dishwasher because the soap needed the food particles to react with....It makes sense to apply soap to react with the dirt particles to loosen, rinse off, then soap once more and take a wet mitt to it.
Hi . I don't even wash. I only foam. Then rinse. Then pat dry. I think it has to do with the ceramic spray Ive applied. It helps keep dirt off the car enabling me to keep it spotless with only a foam wash.
WOW a bang in playing in your head while doing a foam video lolol!!!! I love it. Scott can you do a video on your AIO? I noticed you haven't talked about it at all. Love to see what it can do, espon that black chevy. Thanks Scotty my man
Nice video.. I don't always do snow foaming for dusty cars.. I do Snow foawing when the car got a lot of road grimes and dirt really helps the contact wash with mitt easier, more slick..
If my car or truck is really dirty, I foam, power rinse, foam again, contact wash, power rinse. I like how slick it is that way when doing the contact wash. The foam cannon is fun, so hey, what's not to like ? I don't do this for a living though. Retired and just maintaining my own vehicles is fun and relaxing for me.
The foam step is just a waste of time because you are going to have to contact wash with detergent to get it clean. You just wasted time and consider money playing with a foam cannon. Maybe you guys think there is something erotic about spraying foam on a car????
There is a channel by the name of "Teuku Alfie" in which he foams part of a white vehicle with a few different shampoos/cleaners. He lets it dwell for a few minutes then rinses. Very interesting results on some of them. Some soaps do add cleaning power as you can see in his videos while others do nothing. Check him out.
Scott, can you give insight as to your equipment set-up...Pressure washer, Hose, Gun, etc... Did you change out the orifice nozzle... Curious as to your set-up.
I lived in northern New York (St. Lawrence county to be exact) and we ALL love the Hip up there!!! Also, great video… Thank you for the clear explanation on why foaming a car before a wash just makes good sense!
Completely agree. My go to is to thoroughly power rinse the car then foam as a presoak. If I have time rinse, foam, rinse, foam + hand wash, rinse then dry. If slightly short on time rinse, foam with hand wash while foam is active, rinse and then dry. Great video
I prefer the foaming prior to micro fiber washing. Our vehicles drive on oily roads and once those roads become wet from a rain storm, the dirt stuck to them has a small concentration of random oils and fluids blended in. Plain water rinse cannot dissolve or break down those oils holding onto the grit. With a quality soap ph neutral and safe for all forms of vehicle finish, foaming will dissolve or breakdown the road oils prior to surface washing. Love the vid! Always a fan of foaming first.
Great video! I have changed my whole outlook on washing a car! Thanks! Oh...BTW, I have been a hard core fan of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band since their first album in 73. Now at 65, I still listen to Skynyrd all the time. It never gets old!
Scott, thanks to you, I never simply rinse my black car first. I always foam, rinse, then foam again before the wash mitts come out. To you or anyone who can offer advice, I just picked up Meguiar's Ultimate Finish and Hybrid Ceramic Wax (on sale so it was too good to pass up). Can these 2 products be used together? If so, would I apply the UF first then top it with HCW? I imagine I'd want to keep the SiO2 product on top for the beading and protection. After this bottle, I'm going to purchase DPC Please to compare!
Great video and new to this foam cannon concept. Sounds like one still has to contact wash the vehicle.....is there a foam application that would negate the need of contact washing afterwards?
Hey I like that you mentioned the tragically hip from Canada and you are using a Chevy equinox built in Canada you are being followed in Canada too. EH!
My equinox looks jus like yours but mine is silver and I love to keep my car clean washed and waxed I just started using that McGuires ceramic wax and I love it I would love to get more tips from u to help me keep my car looking great
i think it absolutely makes sense, weather you use a carsoap or an apc or some sort of traffic film remover, they all say it has to sit on the panel for a small amount of time it loses up the dirt. same logic can be applied to cleaning a fabric seat, if you spray it in with an apc but not brush it(which i normally do) it will remove alot more dirt as to when you only use water in your extractor.
where did you get the wand that the foam cannon connects to? another great video. the less contact we make with the finish, the longer it will remain swirl/scratch free!!
Dance Gavin Dance is my favorite band! Melodic/quirky/intense/beautiful. Your vid was awesome brother! I’m actually working on a foam wash video myself.
I'm just a car enthusiast, love the videos, because now I know the foam does remove a lot of the dirt without any agitation, my question is, would it make any sense too, foam the car, rinse it, then foam it again, use a mitt to agitate while the soap is on the panel, then rinse. I hate buckets!
Love it... listing to him talk about foaming a car and a then at 1:41 a guy from Dallas TX throws out one of the best Canadian bands ever... The Hip. Next time don't forget to mention Three Pistols and Fiddlers Green ! Two of the best.
Scott your vidieos are great thank you for your wisdom sir. Personaly I pressure rinse off as much grit as achieveable then foam with an acid based detergent to emusify the bonded contamination followed by a high pressure Akaline solution to balance the PH . Furthermore I rinse once more with ph neutral water as close to distiled as avalible to remove the Acid and Alkaline residues . This does Two things firstly it decreases the risk of having abrasives on the substrate and secondly decreases the staic cling of the contamination making it a more achiveable process to decontaminate with out ever making contact with the surface. The goal is to reduce the process of abrading the substrate and to decontaminate it for either further protection or correction. In the instance there are containiments that are not removed by this process a more mechanical and abrasive process is required such as mulitpul wash mits with a high lubricant ph neutral solution followed by a light clay bar. I see no flaws in your process. Ultimately not all vehicle are the same its not a perfect world and who the fuck cares what your car looks like dont drive a like a dick or act like some spoild prepatory bastured. Be happy you dont have to walk and dont be so vain .
Tragically Hip. Right on.!I have the same Black Equinox except mine has Chrome Roof rack, mudflaps, chrome mirrors, chrome handles. Plus mine was built in Canada in my small town. Great videos.
Hello I enjoye watching your videos I was just wondering what is the best car Shope that actually deep cleans and gives you a nice good shine I use chemical guys snow Foam And it was very a spensive but it wasn't that great What would you recommend my truck is a 2017 Nissan Titan XD and the color is a deep pearl blue Also what would be the best wax to use to get the swirls out of the Paint Thank you hopefully you make a video and let me know
I can believe this. I believe it would be similar to the effect of shaving cream. The benefit of shaving cream is that it keeps your skin & beard in contact longer with water, making the skin & beard softer so that it's easier to shave. With foaming your car, I bet that it's really the water that's doing the job, but it's the foam that keeps the water in contact with the car's surface for longer.
If its warm enough I swear by foaming especially with my new favorite soap the Griots Garage Foaming Surface Wash. My car has 3 coats of CQuartz UK so if I wash it enough (say twice per week) foaming is all I have to do. Typically I foam the front end the back end and all lower parts of the panels. Let it dwell for 5-10 minutes and rinse. I then re-foam the entire car again waiting 5-10 minutes and blow dry with the master blaster. This gets the car 95%-98% clean the rest I take care of with a CarPro Reload/Ech20 mix using your Jack towels.
Nobody cares that you have all these products that u dnt really need lol And ocd cuz u shouldnt have to was a coated car twice a week which leads me to believe your car isn't even coated.. You're spewing out alot of stuff that it seems you heard on youtube and tryna sound cool... Do you even have a car?!
I don't even use buckets anymore thanks to the foam cannon! As per your suggestion, I use 6-8 mitts instead. Foam the car once, rinse, then foam each panel and mitt for the contact wash. 1 oz of soap for the cannon, 1 oz for the contact wash. I'm using less product, less water and getting far better results
@@latinace1981 using multiple wash mitts on one car. The idea is, the more you use one Mitt, the more it collects dirt and grime. If you use multiple wash mitts, you reduce the amount of swirls and scratches in the paint.
This is literally exactly how I wash vehicles now too, if I'm not doing an airless sprayer rinseless wash. Easy, simple, fast, safe and effective. I'm not as crazy with the mitts anymore though. At first I was using like 10, but I've reduced the number after I slowly tested, inspected and was satisfied that it was safe. Now I use 4 big double sided per vehicle in most cases, and I dry with a blower. Zero swirls, zero spots. 👍👌✌
LOL, so Direct. That's funny. I enjoy his videos, skipping every minute, two or three.. and that much progressing. You got to watch his video on elevating the car tires to dresm
Well for perfect cleaning before polishing you have to use contact fibre glove, becouse active foam cannot pull off whole micro dirty dust It just helps with oxidation . You have to use deironizers and claying for the next step before polishing. Waxes saving your time and coat in future.
Don't worry about time, but I'd like to see you make a video for beginners who won't ask bc of the crude plp who make fun of them for their questions. Full prep to finish using clay and polish etc. How much clay, what to look for in clay. What the pads actually mean, foam, wool when to use them etc. I love your honesty. If someone don't like any video they can leave just as easy as they came no need for crudeness. Have a blessed day bro, be safe.
Very useful, thank you. P.S. You are also correct on another count … The Tragically Hip was an exceptional band. The passing of Gord Downie was a catastrophic loss.
Scott, could a person just rinse first with a pressure washer, then foam, let dwell, then rinse. Then use the cannon to apply the foam soap again as you go around the car with your contact wash technique of choice. Seems like the foam cannon would be a great way to apply the soap as you work your way around the car. Thx
My method has always been gentle rinse, soap, pressure wash, rinse. Granted I don't have a foam cannon but seeing how much lubrication they provide I'd probably skip the initial rinse step if I owned one. Far to paranoid to jump directly to the high-powered "Soap" settings most car washes use.
I use a ceramic spray on my car which prevents dirt building up like it has in this clip. I use the foam spray when the car is dry ( not wet) and then I high pressure rinse off. I pat dry it with a towel and I'm done. Apart from the drying method it's a contactless wash and my car is spotless.
Its frustrating seeing people throw logic right out the window and push their thoughts as facts. The logical understanding is that soap has emulsifiers which soften and break down the bond between the dirt and vehicle. Foaming first is extremely important! Great vid scott!
Agreed and whyNOT have more soap/lubrication to help minimize the chance at scraches? Soap is cheap, foam canons are cheap... for me it made HUGE difference on the back of the car where most dirt is kicked up and caked on. (The beadmaker helped too!!!)
I would have to say that it is not EXTREMELY important.. Before foam cannons came out people were getting amazing results without scratched and swirled paint.. Its just a tool to make things easier. Its not needed at all tbh..
And => a regular soap will not do a proper pre-soak. It's not about the amount of foam but about the active ingredients. Search for Nerta SKY WE64 or Nerta in general on Facebook. Grtz
