Back when water heaters had 3 feet on them I came home to find that luckily the back foot fell through the plastic water heater stand and leaned into the corner. I replaced the heater, rebuilt a wood stand with 2 pcs of 3/4" plywood for it to sit on. The metal stands that you show don't look nearly as strong. Now in the last year, just upgraded to a 50 gallon and it has no feet, solid bottom. Still no pan, because it's in the front of the garage and will flow right outside the door. That's always been a problem with the water heaters with feet - breaking through the pan, or the top on the platforms causing the water heater to tilt. Those galvanized stands are actually quite strong. The one in the video supports 650 lbs which is about 100 lbs more than a full 50 gal water heater and nearly 200 lbs more than a 40. thanks for your support.
