They get married so they can have consistent supply. Also because they have found someone who will deal with them even after the trauma bond. Even after the discard. You can be discarded and still be married or in a relationship.
They get married because they need to feel loved, just like any other human being. The problems occur people with NPD haven't learned to take responsibility and they keep deflecting their wrong-doing on their partner. The partner attempts to solve the problems in a way which is best for both, however the narcissist interprets it as an attempt to overpower him. Like any other personality disorder NPD involves a destructive behavior pattern. One of the main key features is LACK of awareness. One of the most hurtful things with other people is when the other one ain't willing or ain't capable to understand you. I grew up as an only child with a father with NPD and a mother with autism. My father emotionally abused me, mainly by projecting his own faults and frustrations on me and shifted everything to make everybody but in particular himself believe he's the victim and I'm the evil son who destroys his life. And still I think my mother is the most destructive one. She tried to take care of me and she did her full best. But she's really unable to understand one's other needs. She's in her 70s now but even less capable to take care of herself than a person of 90 years old. I've tried in every possible way to help her, but with everything I try to explain her she replies with a defensive response. When I try cleaning her house she becomes upset because appearantly have changed something she was familiar with. My parents have been divorced 30 years ago and she still keeps hoping my father will eventually comes back. Therefore I begin to understand the pain behind my father's NPD, because his own mother was similar as mine. He grew up in a family in which everybody communicates in a passive-agressive way instead of talking things out directly. I myself cannot emotionally connect with others, because I'm affraid they will force me to become how they want me to be. Untill a few years ago I didn't understand why people take advantage of others, mainly because of the feelings of guilt one has to deal with others. However I begin to understand why people with NPD feel superior over others, because I learned the hard way the majority of people prefer to remain ignorant and dumb: they don't have a mind of their own and in most cases their "empathic behaviour" is just an act to get along with others. The majority of people only care about others when it's convenient for them. They try to cheer me up with phrases like "don't be too hard for yourself, you're a great guy". But when I really need help they are all too busy and always the same excuses like "I don't have time". I've learned the hard way everybody including myself is much more egocentric than they can admit to themselves.
@ArtificialSoul you preached a whole word sir. These reasons listed is why I decided to go low/no contact with 90% of my relatives. I come from a Jamaican family and that cultural component makes this NPD even more difficult to cope with. It's a shame we live in a world like this....but look towards the hills. After I escaped from a 15 yr fog of lies and deception, I spent these last 2 years studying narcissism, trying to understand what the hell kind of a human being can do the things they do with absolutely no conscience. In the case of my ex, he was always busy, very strategic, meticulous, everything had a plan. I “worked” for him, restoring his boat, finishing his house, upgrading his property, flipping a house, paying all of the bills, paying all of my own expenses wherever we went. Everything would come out in the wash he’d say, then we could retire comfortably. Well, being 5 years younger than him, the closer he got to retirement the worse he began treating me, the smear campaign began before I even left. He broke me through hard physical labor(on top of working my own full time job), mental and emotional exhaustion, trying to understand why his/our(?)friends were always indifferent, cold, even rude to me, and financially making me “pay my way” so that I had nothing saved for me, he literally tried to destroy me. As soon as I told him I was moving out his smile literally lit up the room and he said “I was going to marry you.” I didn’t even respond. I was done. He immediately began posting pics of a 70 yr old woman he picked up on a dating app, her driving the boat, moving into and redecorating the house, going everywhere we always went and professing their love. They were married in 6 months. She retired with a pension. All of his money was being put towards becoming debt free and building his IRA for retirement during our relationship. They now have the house and boat for sale and moved to their home state of Ohio where they bought a house together. In retrospect I now see his plan. His 1st wife put up the money for his house, after he acquired the house and property he picked up his next supply, divorced his wife of 19 years and used #2 supply to help him add on and double the value of his house and property, I came into the picture after being told they had split up 6mos. prior and worked my butt off helping him to retire comfortably. When he was done with me he needed a new supply with a pension to carry him through retirement so he could use her money and continue to enjoy his life. His entire life is a complete lie. I am so thankful and blessed that God pulled me out of that prison. I finally have my life back, unbeknownst to him I had been planning my escape for a few years and saving money. I was able to buy a house as Ned property just before I left him. The only reason I stayed so long was I had nowhere to go and he was trying to destroy me financially, I woke up to his game long before he we parted and thankfully prepared for what was coming. The narcissist can be very strategic and always has a plan. No contact, block, delete them, all of their family, friends, associates, anybody that remains in contact with them snd don’t ever look back. God sees everything. Maybe God allows us to be in that situation to teach us strength, to teach us what love is not, to make us a better person. Maybe God put us in that situation to give the narc a chance to redeem themselves, to let go of the demons controlling their lives, and they failed. But I came out the winner. Life is good!❤
Im sorry you went through all of that but im still confused, it sounds like there was nothing you got back in this relationship. The question is, what were you loving in him then? Love is not words but actions. What did you love?

They probably get married because it strokes their ego, their beautiful wife or husband is a trophy that garners admiration and jealousy from others, or the marriage itself provides privileges, such money, status and power.

Truth! I told the narc I was broke, had sold all my late husband's assets and spent all the money. That wasn't true but I wanted to see what he would do. That's when the mask started slipping🙄
My ex narcissist boyfriend left me for a woman who looked like the mayor character from the show" puff and stuff " but she had a section 8 voucher and military benefits and when he dumped her, he took alot of expensive gifts she had given him including wooden beds and other expensive items. It served her right also for believing his lies and for her being so smug about my heartbreak.

Not every narcissist cheat, but when they do is because they seek novelty. They are novelty seekers. To say it plainly. They get bored with their supplies even IF the current supply possesses sexual prowess. Narcissists are little children whose emotional development was stunted when they were about 4 years of age and they remained at that age. They want a new toy that will excite them and make them feel something as narcissists are dead. They do not exist! That is why they cheat. But again, not ever narcissist cheats and the reason being generally they are not build for one night stands or short affairs because that makes them feel insignificant and used as weird as it sounds. Plus, because a lot of them are incredibly lousy in bed, they cannot impress women enough for them to desire to have sex again.

That's been my exact answer as well. Y'all have hit the nail right on the head. They try to do that reverse psychology, however if you know who you are & love yourself....it won't work on you. You will see right through it!

I am sooooo grateful for your videos. I had no idea why I felt crazy in my relationship until I started watching these videos. Everything clicked. The more I watched the stronger I got. The stronger I got the less of a hold he had on me and I guess his “attraction” to me got. I assume bc I could finally see through him. Now I’m in the withdrawal stages and it’s difficult considering we have a child together but I’m going to keep watching these videos and keep strengthening myself. Thank you soooo much.
I think before anybody gets married to any other person they need to go on a road trip with that person. See how they act when they're hungry tired and dealing with road rage lol. I found out my narcissist who he really was during that trip. And it took me an additional 7 years to get out, at 3/4 yrs, I was learning about narcissists... and didn't want it to be my situation.. but it was. Total of 8 yrs wasted. Nothing but debt & therapy did I get from him.
Yes but with covert narcs it's still really hard, especially when you travel with others. One sign is if traveling in a group they act like you don't exist unless they want to show off to others or have no one that giving them time
I am currently experiencing this same dynamic... for the last 8 months I realized that I actually married a complete stranger after 4 years of marriage and 17 years of " knowing" her...in one week she turned into the complete opposite of everything that I had imagined I thought she was..from every woman I needed and wanted..to every woman I despise and abhor..as a INFJ empath..I must say it was one of the most devastating things I've experienced in life after letting my guard down and living a completely honest life with her.... hindsight is 20 20...it all falls back on me..I considered her my best friend for years..so I supposed I rationalized the red flags..and and judged her off the merits of her personna...
It was probably before .. they line up supplies well ahead of time. They like to see what they can get from the other people before they risk you finding out .. hard lessons learned that’s for sure

100% agree that there were red flags. I try not to sound judgmental, but it is hard to believe that someone was "perfect" for 15 years and just starting wilding out out of the blue. I saw the red flag on the 1st and 2nd date BUT I was rationalizing the behavior in my head because I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Not anymore.
Me too..no more...cut so many people out of my life..I have given gifts. I sacrificed to the point of exhaustion..been called that I was acting like a xxxch and I looked like a Prostitute, etc, bit by bit more and more lies, constant womanizer, then play victim, said he treated me like a QUEEN and I had a huge Rock...it was like he was a monster, lol..He told my friend he was going to do everything to save his marriage, yet he came back and started lies to my face...I can't remember he started. Telling me that I was teaching him patience...mind you I did not know how to cook Spanish food...did not speak Spanish and that person's family even Talked about me in my face in Spanish..24 years...What's sad I deserved so much better, he ended up breaking my back and almost my neck, destroyed my credit, destroyed my reputation and then wanted to play VICTIM all over..I had to make a list, After 24 years there is so much garbage from the other person, then telling people lies, oh wait when he saw me..he puffed up like a blowfish ready to Attack me...just because I wanted to talk...he wanted to continue to deceive and lie... monster and abuser and I only am alive because Jeh God took me away from him..I was sleeping on the cold tile, that I paid for, and he said I DNT leave my bed, I have 2 back surgeries and digestive ISSUES and I'm sleeping on the floor....he is most hated person now.. Impulsive phycopath abuser and lied all over..

If I had this information back then that I have now, I wouldn't have messed up my life by not paying attention to red flags. Church taught me to forgive when a person does wrong to you. Also I was so naive to believe that love grows as people turn from childish ways.

Wow these comments are so relatable, I was in a 11 year relationship that I couldn’t get married in because. I knew things wasn’t right and I just got a call from his wife, 12 days ago. Apparently since I wouldn’t marry him he married someone else and still kept me around. I wish I took the red flags serious, because now I’m healing from a broken heart. I swear everything in this video is accurate!! I was with my wife for 6years before we got married… plenty of red flags, i just couldn’t see them…. It makes them appear normal that is the reason they marry but, they have no intention on settling down at least not for good. They expect you to be loyal but, There is at some point going to come a time when there is a case of the grass is always greener elsewhere. They actually will set this up after time due to their entitlement. There is no escaping this reality.
Yup I married my narc in June 2022 & he walked out 2mo. Later I've been single this whole time. I'm his 2nd marriage. He was married 10yrs B4 me.but he has definitely changed all the way since we said I do. I just gave him divorce papers & claim he don't want divorce but he's still totally neglectful. He may reach out once a week or every other week. He's having an affair as we speak. He came around for labor day bringing gifts & even bbq for us, then gone to the new supply after the grill cut off. So I told him loose my# & address & I will see him in court. I don't think he's gonna even show up to that though.
Of course there were red flags before. Ha, narc married someone else 9 mos after discard. He has remodeled the house, told people he's so happy. Said I didn't want him😂. All a lie because he's still the same. Now that I know what I know, I'm just glad that it wasn't me. We didn't make love on our wedding night. We had a small chapel wedding after dating for 9 years. After the ceremony, we went to dinner and when we got home he went straight to sleep. I was pregnant at the time and we had a child together already.

What a challenging topic to address. Is that because of the underlying individual expectation of what marriage validates being the comfort ones marriage beliefs can for so long be.can be. What marriage in reality takes to sustain the validation lifelong or for even one day can be so different than what was thought. No one wants to unravel beliefs chosen everyday that turn out to be invalid bc of pieces of missing information or wrong application . THEN it's a heavy a burden to internally accept we have to differently align to universal reality of what marriage validates or does not It feels like we've been cheated of our rinbow so to speak. It's a lesser burden to lay that change belong to the other person involved across all social and community considerations, across all empathetic spectrum of traits - the highest or the lowest levels first thoughts are of pointing to the other all alone meaning it's not mirrored blame, it's a stand alone denial initiated by ego and/or emotional motivation disregarding where we are individually wrong. What is your take on a narcissist getting married within 9 months of their break up with you but before they got married at the courthouse they didn't want to tell their own adult children or family that they were getting married? What would be the reasoning behind that? Obviously there's no feelings of love or love bombing and obviously to keep supply but why not tell your family if you're so happy or you want to appear to be normal?

They get married for a LOT of reasons but none are love .. they don’t know what that word means. Reasons my Narc married me: 1. He wanted to hurt his old supply. 2. He was bored 3. He wanted to give me something I didn’t have before 4. I was a great supply (sucker) Wonder how many other people had this experience ? 1. This old supply was ‘annoying, always yelling, a bi *^h’ and he had to leave her !! He made me change my last name on my social media, before we even were married. He told me she always wanted to get married and have his last name (14yrs that poor girl😢 my heart does break for her😢). He made me make a wedding page, AND MAKE IT PUBLIC💔. I had hidden it 2yrs in when I seen what it was actually for. 2. He was BORED with her, she was no fun and all she did was yell at him all the time. He learned that he needed to get married and be with someone that would have fun with him.. (HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS 🚩🚩??!!) 3. He made sure I had everything I wanted for the wedding, picked the spot, the people to come, the food EVERTHING WAS AMAZING ! He even sold an old silver certificate dollar he had to make sure I had the dress I wanted! You know WHY ?? So I could be in even more pain when he left… he was the only man that I wore a wedding dress with, had my family and friend.. even my kids in my ceremony💔😭🤮!!! Sickening. 4. I bowed down and jumped around like crazy to give him everything he wanted.. didn’t matter that I had no sleep, no food, no time with anyone I loved and cared for.. even had me lose clients, have my boss question me as a caring honest person 😢🤬.. Damn I was a great supply .. But so are the 8 he cheated on me with the last two years (I’m sure there are more!) AND the new 11 he’s got sending him tons of pics n vids begging him to come see them (he doesn’t have a car or he would be there already) - They will get EVERYTHING I GOT & EVERYTHING I WANTED FROM HIM !! He will marry them on a beach or boat & spend thousand to go to a exotic vacation with them.. I would bet everything I’ve got on it !! It will be all over social media for ME TO SEE 🤣😂.. Sadly for him, I will be closing my socials for a good six months after he is gone and making sure he has no way to contact me at all (leaving state!) If Americans realize that marriage is a contract they would understand that love is not necessary for marriage. I'm really tired of coaches talking about marriages for love as someone that is studying the law it's one of the things that has to be in writing under the statute of frauds why? Because it's even more important than a contract. Because even contracts can be oral but marriage must be written for it to be valid that's how important that piece of paper is it has nothing to do with love it is a business transaction🧿
