In this episode of TGS, BillytheKid overviews a Hellcat and takes it down to the range for some group comparison with an XDs and XS Mod.2 on a timer. Trigger pull averaged at 5# didn't get to put that in the video but I did test it. Trigger has a terrible flaw IMO. Thanks for stopping by.

All I can say is if you are thinking of buying a Hellcat. Make sure you pull that trigger as much as you can before you buy give it a thorough run through so you know it's safe and works for you. Above all it's a safety issue. I trust my 40 plus years of shooting experience to know there was a problem with mine. If you purchase this gun I hope it is safe and you enjoy it. Also my experience in dealing with Springfield was the worst I've ever had with any firearms manufacturer. Stay Safe. More and more people are finding this problem.

Trigger works fine. And if you train with the firearm properly you shouldn't have issues. This is a great firearm.

Thanks for the input Larry. Another person had brought up how gloves could amplify this issue if you have experienced it before. Another said every draw it would happen to them. I'm a fan of Springfield's products and I'm sure many Hellcats are perfectly fine.

I like that you brought attention to an issue without screaming "this thing is a piece of shit!!!" That helps way more than the latter. I'm probably still going to get one but I'm glad you put this info out there.

So.... you had to properly shoot the gun for it to fire? I've never met anyone to shoot a firearm by pressing sideways one trigger. I guess I just confused on how this is a "Major issue".

I’m here reading these comments.. y’all are funny FR. it’s called an opinion and I for one am glad for it . This video is very insightful for me. I’m 👀 looking to purchase my first concealed carry . I’m an Oklahoma resident and I feel the need to carry everywhere I go With how the world is. I’m kindve ashamed to admit that I didn’t carry in the past. But I will be now . Point is this video did it’s job and discussed everything about this pistol pros and cons . Thanks -

Nothing wrong with this trigger. The is video's on RU-vid show many guns on here acting the same way when you use them incorrectly. I noticed you didn't have any issues with live fire and neither has anyone else. I have one and have put hundreds of rounds thru mine, and never once had this or any other issue. I also have seen a video putting 10,000 rounds thru this gun, and they never experienced this issue either. They were using multiple shooters. This issue isn't an issue.
@TGSTheGoodStuff
@TGSTheGoodStuff 4 года назад
Respectfully I disagree, if I can make it happen then it can happen in real world settings when it should not. The question isn't a matter of if but only when it could happen. I'm sure I could fire thousands of rounds through it in optimal conditions and it never skip a beat but gunfights don't usually happen in optimal conditions so the fact that it can happen and may happen is enough for me to give it a 👎
@markcurts9514
@markcurts9514 4 года назад
@@TGSTheGoodStuff The only way to make this happen is to pull the trigger back without depressing the trigger safety until it bottoms out. Then try to depress the safety. That's how the safety is supposed to work. It's meant for the safety to be disengaged first.
@TGSTheGoodStuff
@TGSTheGoodStuff 4 года назад
@@markcurts9514 I understand your viewpoint and I agree. Maybe all of the hellcats don't act in the same way. The pressure being applied in my video is sideways not rearward. I cannot replicate the same action on a XDs, XD mod.2, XDm, or a VP9 so to each their own.
@scottd8148
@scottd8148 4 года назад
TGS [The Good Stuff] I keep hearing this, real world thing or the adrenaline thing. Problem with that is, regardless of the real world or adrenaline, once a civilian pulls a weapon, they better know where every round is going, along with how to pull that trigger. So training to retain muscle memory is what is needed. Civilians do not have qualified immunity. That trigger safety is working as designed. There are a 100 different things that could go wrong, that being the least of many. The judge and jury isn’t gonna wanna here real world or my adrenaline. If someone isn’t comfortable with that trigger safety they should probably go with something they are comfortable with. I have 1000s of rounds through that weapon, over a 1000 being fast draw, heart rate up different draws and positions. And it has fired every single time.
@scottd8148
@scottd8148 4 года назад
TGS [The Good Stuff] and you have to get in front of that trigger. Plain and simple. What gets you killed is lack of training which produces muscle memory. We all should probably get rid of our weapons because of the 100s of different things that could go wrong in real world or the adrenaline is pumping, that’s about how much sense that makes

37gdog it does not need to be recalled. It is a trigger SAFETY. You guys are upset that you must have a good grip and purchase on the gun for it to fire? I have tried to test out this this and key word is TRIED. You have to intentionally push the side of the trigger for this “malfunction to happen”. I’ve also went out on the range and trained with this weapon with 0 malfunctions

@@centermass4962 Well it's nice to know that there are so many experts out there that without ever holding or firing my gun they know nothing is wrong with it. I have 20 plus other guns with trigger safeties and none of them have this issue. I know how to pull a trigger, but thank you for your expert advice. I have sent in Ruger's, Para's, Browning's, Taurus and kelTecs to be repaired and I hate to think I wasted all that time when all I had to do was ask you experts and have you tell be they weren't broke. I will fix myself if Springfield won't won't, but the thinking that because yours works everyone else's does too, is stupid.
@37gdog
@37gdog 4 года назад
CENTER MASS I fixed it this morning. Even with the blade depressed all the way it would still rub going through the frame slot. If you had anything but an absolute straight trigger pull it would catch or pop over the edge of the slot on the left corner because I am right handed. I don’t know if the frame slot is burred but I took a small file and filed a little off the blade catch and that has fixed my issue. There is enough material there to do this and still have a trigger safety that works properly.

Actually he makes a point Glocks don’t do that They should probably see if they could make it less sensitive to side pressure And a lot of people have large hands and anybody with large hands probably would rather not chance that side pressure sensitive but if you have small hands looks like it’s good to go you can thread the needle unless you’re really in shock and it’s a possibility it could have failure

I've been trying to decide whether or not to pull the trigger(pun intended) on buying this pistol, so in researching it, I ran across this video. Thanks for pointing this out! All the negative comments here seem to be people who've spent $500 on a pistol and CAN'T STAND that someone is pointing out, plainly and clearly, that their new purchase may not be the best choice, so they cry like babies about it! Man up! This video plainly shows that you CAN cause this pistol not to fire by pulling the trigger "wrong". This is a design problem, plain and simple! You should not be able to produce a failure by pulling the trigger "incorrectly". When the shit hits the fan, all the muscle memory in the world won't mean a thing if real Fight or Flight hormones are flowing. Murphy's Law says you WILL pull this trigger "improperly" at some point. Then you become a casualty. All you Hellcat fanboys are doing by ignoring this, and even worse DEFENDING this problem is showing your stubborn pride. The guy isn't a Springfield hater. He has no ax to grind. He showed the problem on video. It is a REAL problem. But you don't want anyone to think that you would be dumb enough to make a mistake, so you just double down on it. That is really stupid.
