If you have studied cars your whole life. How can you say that a Porsche and a Maserati, is more reliable than a Lexus. You clearly know nothing about cars. You want better gas milage? Then probably a sports car isn’t for you.
@@chromecobalt Untill it breaks. It's built by VW... so yeah... even the TDIs aren't that reliable nowadays. Not mentioning the DSG tranny. Living with a german car outside of Europe is very expensive. In Germany german cars keep mechanics in business.
@Ilikesovietunion500 bruh That's true. But it's a Lexus. You can get it for under 15k. TBH the Prius is the better car. BUT if you really want to get best fuel economy and not a Diesel, get the CT. It looks soo much better than a Prius. BTW the GS300h or the newer ES have similar MPG. A bit more like the Rav4. But still very low. And the ride is just comfortable. A bit TOO comfortable for my taste (I drove a GS300h). With all the insulation and all you feel quiet disconnected.
@Ilikesovietunion500 bruh It all comes down to the philosophy of the company. Germans and the US could make customer-oriented cars. But their mentality and philosophy will always work against them. Also why would they change anything, when their pile of ducks are selling like hot garbage? The customer must demand changes.
Hi Ford tech here. Let’s begin with “ I’ve researched cars all my life” yea that’s a lie unless you mean go on RU-vid and look at people just doing burnouts or something. The AWD is the reason you go through tires and gas, spinning all 4 wheels at all times is bound to burn more gas and tires. It’s a beautiful car and has a purpose you accept the flaws and perks of awd when you buy an awd. Honestly I was fully expecting you to rag on the infotainment system far more but low and behold you speak on something that is an accepted and understood flaw. I do agree this car has an awful gps and infotainment system. However you are speaking on things that aren’t the issue. Also why do you hate Lexus getting reliability of the year? You spoke nothing of unreliability in the video only you complaining tires are expensive when you didn’t shop around. I don’t often comment on videos on RU-vid so you really said some dumb shit son.
You should have researched all these things. The cost of tires and the fact that low profile tires are susceptible to road hazard is a well known fact and is common sense. The gas mileage is also well known. You sound like you would be happy with a Kia.
Lexus IS is trash, the ES with the 300+ hp V6 gets better mpg than the IS 350 that has the same hp but a much smaller car when compared to the ES... I don't get the appeal.
This guy is just an idiot. Quit buying the tires from the dealership, the tread wear rating is terrible on the OEM tires. I think they have a 100 tread wear rating. You can find Michelins or Hankooks with 300+ treadwear ratings and they have better grip. Secondly, he shouldn’t have bought an AWD IS300, that was his first mistake. An AWD 3.5 V6 will always get terrible gas mileage. I have a 2015 IS350 RWD F-Sport and I get at least 23 mpg average. Lastly, who still uses the car’s navigation? I honestly don’t know why they still put navigation in cars when people have smartphones.
@@anthonyb2990 The ES is a FWD based sofa on wheels confort barge...The IS is a RWD/AWD Sports sedan...A lot of people prefer RWD based chassis because of there driving dynamics and better ability to rotate the rear of the car when cornering...They are however more expensive to design/make and tend to get slightly worse mileage...If you don't get it, all that means is that cruising around in the sofa on wheels ES is more important than having a RWD based sports sedan...That's fine, don't say the IS is trash though just because you don't understand car chassis/dynamics. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-C4hv78vtBxM.html
This comment should have a trillion likes. If tires are to much for your Lexus. Guess what. You shouldn't own a Lexus. Your tires are going Bald ever so often. Is because you drive harsh. A digital clock wouldn't come in a Luxury car. This video is ri fukin diculous. If you wanted a better car you should have gotten a Gs.
Let me just say I’m in a BMW now and I’m dying to get out of it ASAP and will be going to a dealer tmrw to trade it in and get into a 2015 Lexus is250 f sport ! Lexus has been so reliable for all my family the bmw have one problem after the other even w low mileage and just an endless money pit the only thing I like is the looks and performance but other than that make your life a living hell !
Lets all be honest here the 250 is cool but we are slow as tity But 350s are rare and usually have been beat on harder then a pornstars coochie Lexus should just get rid of the 250 and just make only 350s
If u want a millennial wagon, get a Camry with apple car play. In reality, smart people don’t care if it doesn’t have a digital clock, and apple car play is not a necessity AT ALL.
350 Pablo I had to agreed with you on this, ppl buy lexus not because of Apple/ Andriod Car Play btw you can alway get after market for this. You should get a handphone mount and use your iPhone Google Map instead, it works much better. Lexus IS200T in my opinion its the better car compare to german rivals, in terms of reliability issues. You dont want a luxury vehicle to have electronics parts or worst engine or gearbox issue in long run. I had said Lexus IS200T its the ultimate choice, if you looking to purchase a pre-owned luxury vehicle that could out last its german competitors. Other tear and wears parts like tyres its a no brainer bro, nobody goes to dealership for repairs and replacement, they will rip you off.
I got used to the analog clock, its no big deal. The biggest problems with this car are that its not very spacious, gas mileage isn't very good and it does go through tires and brakes alot quicker.
350 Pablo i disagree that “smart people” don’t care if it doesn’t have a digital clock. Digital clocks are convenient and that analog (if I remember correctly) was more about aesthetics rather than telling the actual time as there are very few markers/notches.
The clock really ? Didn't learn how to tell time as a kid huh ? Don't bother making another video you obviously didn't do any research your credibility is shot.
Amen Marc!!! This guy is ridiculous. What he spoke about was petty garbage. Lexus' don't get terrific mileage. 19.7 is reasonable too. And the clock? Maybe this idiot should look at an Infiniti. Those have analog clocks too... So Marc, im with ya! He need not make another video until he matures
Lexus is a solid brand but KIA is no joke anymore. And they are still developing. With this level of progression, they will be catching up with market leaders within the next few years.
In summary, there is nothing to complain about this car. When I saw the title of the video, I thought he was going to describe a huge problem like something big with the motor or the transmission and then I heard about tires and the digital clock. This is a nice car.
@@ericphysique I have the 2018 Lexus IS fsport. The tire tread does wear down unacceptably fast. A set of 4 continental tires cost $1,380. And they don’t last for more than 10k to 15k miles.
@@ericphysique I rented a 2023 IS350 F Sport for three days then rented a 23’ ES350 Luxury and the differences were phenomenal! The 350 is a solid and smoooth boulevard-cruiser that still feels sporty enough. Now just shop at tire rack and get the highest-rated UTOG all-season tires. They’re not as soft but they’ll last 3X’s longer. As for the lease, tire rack always maintains a record of your purchases.
If I have this Lexus,I will always put Eco, put performance air filter, and I have never went to dealership to buy new tires for my(Toyota) car. I went to shop(tire repair when you see outside when you drive by) it's near by my house when I live. when my car have problem,I have never gone to dealership. Just only mechanical local. Haha it was near my house. They are honest people. The f*** do I have to go to dealership far away for? When owner brought brand new car, they will searching how to disassemble stuff from theirs computer and Bam! Fix it . I seen Lamborghini and sporty cars outside to get it fixed. When I asked what do you about Cadillac ATS 13. He warned me not to get that car because it's money pits and will breaking down soon or later and not the best as reliable as Lexus and Toyota.
I agreed he must've idle that car nonstop during the winter thats why he's getting 19 mpg... and probably didnt know that idling affects mpg... i have a 2018 IS350 F-Sport RWD drove it off the lot Brand New in mid 2018 and im averaging 19 to 21 mpg combine when i idled thru the freezing winter... summer time, i'm seeing 24-29 mpg in eco mode consistent, rarely in Sport+ except lane changing if need be... averaging 390-430 + or - miles range to empty tank pumping premium. A lot of his complaint are driver common sense... didnt take care of the car and was complaining whats wrong with it.. he mentioned @ 4:40 "I paid 51 for this, I believe..." well, i dont believe him if he got it for $51K in total price tag cuz it doesn't add up and No, I dont believe him but I do believe that he got ripped off from his dealer if he really did got it for 51. lol
That he aparantly leased based on a price of "about $51,000"...Thounsands more that that car should cost... Either the moron got ripped off, or the moron is trying to inflate things in front of the camera girl.
@@noellfrilles Not what I paid...Lexus has/had some really great intensives. But the sticker on my 16 AWD 300 F sport with some extras like Nav,cooled seats, ect was 46K USD and change... With all the options the OPs car dose not have.
imagine.......going to the dealer....a dealer.....and asking "how much for these tires." at a dealer. Im dumbfounded at how stupid this dude is. Ive heard people high off meth with better sense than this dude.
Complaining about tires? Clearly a wear item. Must be crappy driving and all them joisey potholes. Worst troll review I've seen. Get an Elantra or take a bus . That will suit you. Car is fine. Driver mod needed.
if you only ride in the city its like 19-20mpg but if you do a lot of highway only you can hit near 30mpg. this guy never left the city streets and complains about gas mileage. its not amazing by any stretch but talk about not telling the whole truth.
*I have a 2019 Lexus is300 F sport, White with red interior, The most beautiful reliable car and i’m happy with my mpg, i did my research, sounds like you maybe read some comments and went straight to the dealership*
@Amore Beauty I got a lexus is 350 2014 f sport awd two years ago I did my research about everything staggered wheels, mpg, type of gasoline etc I knew what I was getting into whit that car and I love it
I got a 2006 Lexus IS250 with 170,000 miles and still running like a clock. Sure it can seem a little outdated and maybe not the best looking car but man, those engines can really hold up man. I wouldn’t want to get any other car that’s not a Toyota/Lexus
@@shady5068 you're gonna eventually end up with engine problems if you don't use the correct octane. The amount of money you save using reg gas isn't worth it because you'll spend even more in engine repairs down the road. Get a Costco membership and fill up gas there. Their premium price is pretty close to regular.
Lol ive had this car for 2 years zero problems works great. I get up to 30mpg highway. Your caomplaints have zero to do with the reliability of this car. Ive got coilovers Some bolt ons and a tune and gl catching me threw a canyon.
That's why i think buying this car certified pre owned is just a way better decision since lexus/toyota barely updates their vehicles significantly. Compare the 2014 and 2020, yes there are some improvements but its still essentially the same car with the same drivetrain with a slightly updated infotainment system.
The morale of this story, why have the car in the first place when it is clearly not what you wanted? Tyres are nothing to do with Lexus, the surfaces on which they run are the problem, no digital clock- boo hoo. As for the low MPG what do you expect when it sits there idling for no reason? Biggest factor on MPG is how you drive a vehicle.
He just wanted clicks, this video is just straight up bullshit, the fact that he tries to blame the car for running through tires just shows how mechanically declined he is, just forks over money for no reason and blaming the car, if you run through 2 sets of tires, it’s most likely an alignment issue or worse case scenario a suspension issue, but to solely blame Lexus on something like that is shitty
Your buddy has Kia with more options But you have a better quality quality quality car that will run for ever so Apple car play or quality car that will never brake down on you Trust me brother I have the 2015 is 350 f sport now I got 332 thousand Kim’s and I have no problems at all trust me your car worth every penny and I will keep driving my car till she is done I drive about 200 Kim’s a day and no issues keep your Lexus and remember you are driving the best quality world wide in car business good luck
The centre consul is a little dated looking in these Lexus’s. Still a great built car! I worked at a Lexus Dealership and these hardly had any issues however a few guests did complain of premature tire wear. Turned out it was only on the cars that came from factory with Pirelli tires that “cupped”. Our Pirelli representative never responded to us or other Lexus dealers about the issue, and we began selling Lexus’s with Michelin’s which solved the issue. These cars do have a tight suspension for great handling but meh! Still a great car.
this is big example of a dude trying to flex when broke.. all he complains about is cost...wake up dude you're broke. stop buying expensive car trying to impress people when you're broke!!
Just do the maintenance yourself. I own a 2012 Lexus IS250 F Sport Rear Wheel Drive. I do my own oil changes, brake pads and rotors, drain antifreeze coolant and put new coolant in, installed K&N aftermarket air filter..etc. They are pretty easy cars to work on. I also have a modified Mazda RX-8 and that gets about 10-12 MPG. So 19 MPG is pretty decent.
Youre crying about the MPG on a lexus but want a Lambo? 🤦♂️ You get a Lexus and you take care of it no matter the cost. If money is an issue, the Prius is super reliable and now awd for the bad weather. I have a Lexus IS350 F-Sport that gets a check out at the end of every month so it stays up to speed and health. It's a blast and still puts a smile on my face. Learn how to work on your car to save money as well.... it's not hard. You have one of the best cars on Lexus's line up but the driver is the problem....
I sold my is350 to get the 2003 Lexus is300 SportDesign. It's so much fun to drive and precisely the fact that it has the weaker 2jz is why I bought it. Started working on the engine to make it the bulletproof beast it can be. I used to take my old Lexus to Lexus, never to Toyota but I dont see why you cant. Same companies
Sounds like he just dont like Toyota products... I own a 2007 IS250 with 284,000 miles and it gave me zero issues (I would buy another one in a heartbeat). It doesnt wear tires, I get on avg 25 mpg (sometimes more) and I live in Atlanta where anyone would get the worst mpg due to redlights and traffic. However, i do use 93 Octane and 0W20 Synthetic oil. Still has the original Toyota spark plugs. I got Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and bluetooth (bought a Pioneer head unit) the original radio still works though. The car isnt really that slow. If he want speed, RWD, new tech and power, I think dude should invest into a Charger/Challenger R/T or 392 Scat Pack. Possibly a Hellcat.
@@ericphysique don't worry bro, we appreciate your critiques. It gives more clarity to people like me who are thinking whether to get the Lexus IS or not 👍
This dude really is a clown lmaooo you popped 2 tires yourself in 45k miles and you call it unreliable? Bro you gf chilling with her side dude while you whipping that LEASED IS250
Your friend bought a KIA? If those things don't set themselves on fire, the engines fall apart because those are cheap junk. Maybe he'll be lucky and the KIA Boys will steal it off of him.
I have Asian roots. In my homeland kn Asia, Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Patrol, Toyota Camry, Avalon, Lexus Is, Lexus Es Nissan Maxima, Toyota Cotolla, are the most liked and reliable cars. Our streets are not the best and the heat is like 45*+ Celsius. Those cars made their names in being robust and easy to fix. My father drives a Toyota LandCruiser and thank God in the 90s made some real estate purchases, when you could buy them for 100s of dollars, so out condition isn’t the worst. I remember when i got 25 my father asked me which car i wanted. I asked for an IS350 and he accepted. We don’t pay taxes in muslim countries and the cars are cheaper so brand new was approximately 28.500$. I had the car for 4 years. The only thing i changed during that time: Tyres, Oil, Battery, Plug Ins from engine, Fuel Pump due to bad gas quality. Tyres= 450$ with 20$ allignement. Oil 6times a year 35$ eacht time. BATTERY 85$ original. Plug ins with engine and gas tank clean= Per plug in 10$x6, Engine and tank clean 100$ Service 50$. And Gas costs. Thank god i had no accident let say i just paid 1000$ on service. I feel embarrassed when somebody say Toyota-Lexus is not reliable or costly…
Basicly it didn't have Apple car play so you thought everything else was rubbish too 😂 I love my 350 and I know it has poor gas mileage, who cares when it's fun to drive. Ps. The analog clock is stylish, the digital ones look like the 90s.
This is what happens when you walk into the dealership and say " oooooo Pretty! Me like! I take home" You chose the car, the car didn't choose you! Most car guys put as much thought into buying a car as they do choosing a girl. Some guys, more! LOL Do your research first bro, a car is a big purchase! The clock...really?!
Bro I’ve been researching night and day on what first car I should have and I’ve been going back and forth from the 2011 IS 250 to a 2012 - 2014 328i and I will bet you my head that he just walked into the Lexus dealer, picked one that had the most bling, not researching it not watching reviews, not cross shopping it with say a TLX or even a Q50 or a 330i or an E Class, and just buying a product that aren’t up to his bullshit standards
left the car runs idle while filming and then complaint about bad mpg . Lexus doesnt even make the tires....lol tire company's name is on tire sidewall.
You know a car is reliable when you name things about a car that has nothing to do with the car's reliability. How does an outdated infotainment system, MPG, or a tire blowing out on you have anything to do with reliability? Tires explode on everyone
We've had the IS300h for just over 4 yrs, and it's coming up to 8yrs old. The only thing to fail was a spark plug, and the 12v auxiliary battery, but that happened to a lot of people during lockdown. I like the clock, so easy to change twice a year. We also get just over 50mpg. The audio on the video was pretty awful, and I couldn't make out much of what he was saying
Homeboy had me till da complaint about the clock lol...as an owner of a 2017 IS 300 F Sport 2 I'll give ya da real... 1. What he's basically sayin about the tires is true. This car chews up rubber. Winter tires are recommended and make for a nice ride in snowy conditions. The AWD helps too. The dealer told me the tires turn into hockey pucks but I recently was told by a tire shop owner that a lot of luxury cars like Audi, Lexus, etc. run on a/s tires and do fine. This may be because of many factors like all-wheel drive, weather conditions, etc. I would do my homework about this because knowing what I know now I think winter tires may not be necessary if you have a good a/s tire and AWD. 2. The tech could be more modernized. I never use the built-in nav because I find it's layout so wack so I agree with Eric is sayin there. There should be an option to download Google Maps and not having Apple CarPlay sucks a bit (I had a Hyundai rental that had CarPlay recently, it was super dope to have as a feature, very practical). But in my opinion Lexus has signature interior pieces like the analog clock which is classic and therefore meant to appeal to a certain demographic. I personally think it's a nice touch but there should be a small digital clock displayed somewhere. I have my iPhone plugged in (or nearby) always when I drive so it's easy to get over not having CarPlay. 3. This car drinks gas like baby drinks a bottle lol Basically something to be aware of given 2024 gas prices. 5 years ago gas was way cheaper and fuel economy readings sound correct so I don't the issue. More of an issue in today's world imo I recently started having an issue with the fuel consumption being a bit higher than usual. However, I researched and need to look at a few things like reducing my tire pressure to 36 psi (the tire shop I was at recently put my new tires on and filled them to 39 psi) and/or adding fuel valve cleaner I am trying to think of more legit issues with this car (based on having it for over 3 years) but I have none. It's such a sick car to drive! Driving from Toronto to MTL was always fun!! This car is quick yet drives and handles so smooth! If cars weren't such a liability and I was a collector I would def keep this car. Thinking of getting rid of it soon because of this and gas and tire swaps costs are piling up...until the economy improves enough the expense that comes with this car can't be justified much longer...but it is such a FUN car to have! LOL Sorry for the novel hahaha but hopefully this helps someone.
lol that short Novel was a better summary than my whole vid. With that said what you’re saying is true, the only way someone would know is owning the car. The tires are the only legitimate issue that really annoyed especially after having AWD BMW without having to change tires frequently
Ive had the same tires for 3yrs. If you run really soft tires you'll replace them every year. I had the Hankook Ventus V12 evo2 they were great up in the mountains here in CO but they dont last. I switched to Bridgestone RE980 AS and they're great. MPG does suck. Its a 3.5L V6 performance engine. Its not a Camry. The analog clock is a luxury...if you want a digital clock buy a lexus. The higher end cars dont come with digital clocks. The lack of Apple carplay sucks. Overall its a great car. Sounds like you need to buy the KIA your buddy has.
I strongly disagree with this video. I did extensive research before buying my 2017 Lexus IS200t FSport with Rioja Red interior (much better spec than this one) and was well aware of what to expect in regard to all costs. In addition, I negotiated the hell out of it. I don't think this guy did his homework. Also, I'm averaging 22-24MPG driving around Southern California roads. I LOVE my car. Do your homework and you won't ever look back.
I have an f sport and I get better gas mileage I’ve noticed when I drive on eco I get worse gas mileage. I love this car hasn’t had any issues been 2 years just oil change and tire change my Jetta was another story
I just realised something.. after watching this video... How jobless am I ... Good lord... you are complaining about tires and GAS milage ... sounds like you would be happy with a Prius or Kia (at least hope so)
They’ve addressed all your concerns on 21-24 models year except gas mileage. Still gets 21mpg and the car’s got a small tank. So on a full tank of gas it’s got less range than a Tesla 😮
The costs of tires, and MPG you are describing is fairly normal to all other similar competitors . i've had several sports sedans, the acura TL Type-s w/ a 3.5 v6, and near the same power, also gets under 20 MPG, it's a trade off.
To replace tires twice in first 2 yrs is ridiculous though. The amount of money you “invest” and for the interior to look like a 2012 or so is just ridiculous. There’s other reviews on Lexus IS and the results are similar especially 2016s. But Toyota is better than most.
@@cowboydelnorte3078 could also be driver at fault. I can't think of a good reason, even with awd, to burn through two sets of tires in two years. He probably drives like trash and/or the roads in NJ are terrible.
Eric Physique idk what’s funny bro. If you don’t know about cars that’s one thing. But nobody likes someone who acts like they know what they’re talking about. People come on here for legit advice and reviews. If I make myself look silly or I embarrass myself the last thing I’m gonna do is reply with a “😂” emoji. Have some self respect dawg
Toyota and lexius produce some of the most reliable cars ever - i have been driving german cars all my life but to many mechanical issues with them i switched to lexis 300 last year and i prefer it more than CLA
What I don’t understand is why the hell did you buy it if you think it’s so out dated and cheap inside. It’s not like you couldn’t see it before you bought the car 🧐
I have a 2016 IS 350 and is a damn good car. If ownership of a Lexus scares you, probably Maserati is not your car. I had a IS300 as a loaner from the dealership and it felt sluggish compared to my 350 and would hate to have it as a daily driver. if you are buying an IS either get the 350 or the previous generation IS-F. I had a 2008 Saab 9-3 and my average consumption was 13.7 litres (Canadian car sorry :). My Lexus has 100 extra horses and my consumption is 14 litres and I do not use Eco mode because it is annoying. My point is smaller engines do not necessarily consume less fuel. At 46K km I flushed the transmission and differential fluids of my Lexus and the gas consumption dropped by a litre per 100.
They are reliable. Potholes are a killer. But I guarantee if you put some smaller rims or get a GS or LS. I never had problems with my Gs and my LS F sport is a dream. You don’t feel anything and I never have tire issues.
Amazing video!!! I look for the same details that you mentioned they really make or break my decision on buying the car ! Gas mileage, no clock no apple play and needing to replace the tires ?! Next ! Lol thank you
Lilahbeauty read the comment section this guy is getting hammered for all the nonsense he spoke of. A Lexus is much more reliable than German cars and hold its resale value... meaning it won't depreciate as fast as its competitors.
