@@VeganChiefWarrior Actually it's trivial to get all nutrients you need if you eat traditional staple foods and you get a b12 supplement and some iodized salt. It becomes hard only when you start to believe that vegans are deficient in a lot of nutrients as claimed by the meat eaters. These beliefs are worthless. They're not backed by facts. Yes, b12 and iodine are two valid concerns but they're valid for everyone, not just for vegans. They're not really vegan issues, they're soil issues. The other "deficiency diseases" cited by veganhealth.org are not backed by facts. In fact if you follow the recommendations by veganhealth.org you'll end up with a poor vegan diet and you'll end up poisoning yourself with supplements. The supplements that he does recommend are poisonous. DHA is poisonous. Calcium is poisonous. Vitamin D is also poisonous. You've got to be careful because these people don't know what they're talking about. Even high dosage b12 and iodine are poisonous but unfortunately we've to take some.

@@VeganChiefWarrior For example iodine is often found in potatoes, a classic staple food. Anyway if you eat a 1kg of food every day you'll probably get enough iodine. How do omnivorous people get their iodine despite their tiny portions? They get it from dairy industry. They use iodine as a *disinfectant* because it *kills* many bacteria.

I remember reading a study where, I believe, 29 bypass candidates chose this study instead of bypass. There were arterial photos and after maybe 6 months 28 of the 29 had their arteries cleaned out by keeping their omega 3 to 6 ratio 1 to 4 with the hep of 2 tablespoons of ground flax per day. I admit this is all from memory and I wish I could find this again. I think it was a Dr Greger video that mentioned it but still cannot find it. The end study arterial photos showed dramatic improvement. Since this I refrigerate the bag of ground flax and try to incorporate it as much as can be remembered.

I understand, I'm not sure if Dr. Furhman has put as many hours into studying fatty acids as Dr. Radak. But, Dr. Fuhrman actually has clinical experience working with patients. It's a tricky subject and there's a lot of controversy right now on supplementation. I don't supplement but I eat whole plant foods and additionally make sure to get fresh, milled flax as daily as possible and walnuts. I've stayed with Fuhrman and secretly observed that he does in fact supplement and eat whole plant foods. So, he practices what he preaches. Ultimately, the best approach would be just to eat whole plant foods consistently and get tested, then go from there. That seems most logical... I'm not sure why no one just simply doesn't say this lol. I'll be working with Fuhrman again in a few weeks...

My parents both have heart disease, and my mother also has Alzheimer's. One of the most important problems with heart disease and Alzheimer's is lack of prostacyclin, which is made from arachidonic acid, and people with these problems are low in arachidonic acid. So, once when my mother's heart was beating irregularly, and once when her blood pressure had shot up to 250, she took an arachidonic acid supplement. In the first case, her heart beat steadily again in 15 minutes, and, in the second case, her blood pressure came down to her normal in less than an hour. My dad was completely out of breath, could not do anything but lie on the couch. This had gone on for a week. So, he took an arachidonic acid supplement, and the next morning he was his old self. Arachidonic acid is only in animal foods, mainly liver, bacon fat, chicken fat, and butter, all ancestral foods. Multiple studies have proved that lab rats make adequate arachidonic acid out of linoleic acid, but that's not too surprising, since small rodents, and birds, are the seed-eaters of the animal kingdom. But these studies have no bearing on the needs of humans. The human brain uses four times as much arachidonic acid as DHA, so, whatever you do, don't take fish oil (as Dr. Radak rightly cautioned), unless you take arachidonic acid at the same time.
@joantendler6518
@joantendler6518 5 лет назад
Also, it would be incredibly inefficient to burn 80% of our extremely small amount of essential fat for energy!, so I guess he meant we burn 80% of our saturated and monosaturated fats. Instead of being burned, essential fats are stored. Arachidonic acid is stored as phosphatidylcholine, made in the liver, which constitutes 45-50% of cellular membranes, and 70-95% of phospholipids in lipoproteins, bile, and surfactants. Phosphatidylcholine is needed to form acetylcholine, which is an extremely important neurotransmitter, and much more. So, it’s very important, especially for heart and brain health, to eat foods with arachidonic acid in them. In contrast, the plant omega 6 fat linoleic acid displaces arachidonic acid, yet is highly unstable and so is easily oxidized into free radicals called OXLAMs, which are found, and are pathological, in almost every disease.

What kind of diet did your parents eat?
@joantendler6518
@joantendler6518 5 лет назад
@@someguy2135 My parents grew up eating the worst food of all-cottonseed oil, in Crisco and Wesson, like most older people did. I have researched the effects of cottonseed oil, which has gossypol in it, which is a blood poison. It has become very clear to me, from many studies of gossypol (although mainly done on farm animals, who are often given large quantities of it) that the cottonseed oil that almost all elderly people ate growing up is the actual cause of heart disease (which started shortly after Crisco was invented). These farm animals literally experience the same symptoms as heart disease, before they die of heart attacks or heart failure, or from organ failure due to lack of blood. It wasn't until 1970 that cottonseed coil consumption dropped, precipitously, and deaths from heart disease dropped at the same time, after 1970.Very unfortunately, gossypol is still in the food chain, because they give it to dairy cows in big farms. So avoid cheap hamburgers and beef hot dogs at all costs-I only eat pastured beef, very important!
@someguy2135
@someguy2135 5 лет назад
@@joantendler6518 No doubt about it, Crisco is the worst. As you may know, it is hydrogenated. My mother cooked with it when I was a kid. Fortunately, I have had no problems with my heart so far. I have been eating a plant based diet for years and 100% vegan for more than a year now. My brothers haven't been so fortunate. I avoid oils and eat mostly whole food plant based.
@joantendler6518
@joantendler6518 5 лет назад
@@someguy2135 That's great that you avoid oils-they're so high in linoleic acid, which is yet another of the problems with Crisco. Your brothers are probably eating "conventional" hamburger and hot dogs, made from old dairy cows, so they're likely to have gossypol in them. Also, beef has very little arachidonic acid in it, and arachidonic acid is essential for heart and brain health. Interestingly, arachidonic acid tastes just like chicken!-so the best sources are dark chicken meat, liver, bacon fat, pastured lard (which Crisco replaced!), and egg yolks. My mom's Alzheimer's is vascular dementia, which I now think may be the more common Alzheimer's, so gossypol is probably behind that too, especially since a study showed improvement in Alzheimer's with an arachidonic acid supplement. I was pretty depressed-"wired but tired"- when I was a vegetarian for 35 years, so I think, besides being low in zinc and B vitamins, having no essential brain fats in my diet was a big part of it, because my mental state is really different now-very upbeat.

There must be a reason why all this is here, though. Surely we are not all here just to make more dust, more ashes. God aside, it seems to me that there are many forces at work in the world, some for good, some for bad, some neutral. Sure there are many people starving or ill in the world. You don't think that at least some of the issues and problems we have in the world is due to human error, widespread pollution and monetary inflation for example? @@razonyespirituWell, I as a progressive vegan have thought about that and I am convinced that most of their suffering is due to man made activities such as pollution like wild bob cats being poisoned with mercury or other contaminants due to the air pollution in or near places like L.A. for example. We stop messing with natural habitats, polluting the environment, and devastating ecosystems as well as leaving them more land and water among other resources to work with and as far as I can tell wild animals can and will take care of themselves and do more of the things they would like to do. I think a great place to start is to get out of animal agriculture and get back to sound money so that there will be much more land and resources available to the wild and less pollution and as a side benefit humans will be less likely to be poisoned or harmed and with sound money will be less likely to be priced out of the market for decent food and housing. Studies have shown that wild game meat is much better to eat than typical farm raised anyway as it tends to cause less inflammation. It would be good to stop doing any activity that involves breeding and raising animals and holding them in captivity as it tends to cause more problems than it solves. Coronavirus, avian flu, the common cold and small pox I think are good reminders as to why it would be a good idea to be at least mindful of our interactions with other members of the animal kingdom as well as the environment.

@@razonyespiritu You keep telling yourself that. There is plenty of evidence saying otherwise. A lot of this 'horrible predation' you go on about is mainly due to human activities. Do you honestly mean to tell me that you know nothing about all the humans that specifically take trips to places like Africa and hunt down and poach many of the wild animals there? Never mind all the elephants that have been killed by human poachers just for their ivory tusks and possibly in response to this nature has made it so there are now elephants being born in the wild without tusks. Look it up. Then there are still the issues of widespread pollution, climate change, population growth that is almost exponential in parts of Africa and all the issues it comes with. Man has really screwed up nature and himself and everyone, humans and animals, alike are paying for it. God has pretty much left the ball in our court and it is up to us humanity to do something about it. You want to shut your eyes to all the evidence and tell yourself differently, fine with me. I am just glad that some of the rest of us know better and are actually attempting to do something about it rather than trying to start some inane argument about whether they think God exists when they don't even know exactly how many hair follicles exist on their own heads. And that's what Fuhrman's supplement is. Tim also references it being suggested that it's a personal choice to supplement. I am assuming that your comment is Fuhrman related. If so do keep in mind that the video that I produced of Dr Fuhrman was not about DHA EPA supplementation :) Also these are two completely different doctors. Doctor Tim Radak does not see patients whereas Fuhrman has for 30 years. Tim presumably has done more research though, perhaps more than Dr Greger and Fuhrman combined. Nonetheless all of these doctors are excellent resources and coming from valid backgrounds and worthy of consideration. I don't see anything in this video slamming Dr Greger or Dr Fuhrman in any sort of negative way. It definitely gives you a lot to think about and still leave the door open to using dr.
