Regarding Sydney. Last year Collingwood lost 3 of their last 5, Nick Daicos was injured, and got smashed by Hawthorne.. and they managed to win the flag. A late season slump is normal for teams who dominate the season, they'll be fine

But also you didn't mention Geelong in 2011, and 2020 was a shortened season so doesn't even count. So really it's 3 teams that won and 3 teams that lost. Additionally, these stats have no bearing on future outcomes, so will not increase Sydney's chances of winning the flag 😂
5:50 kane is absolutely right. How the hell would you know those academy picks are going to be any good. I’d say only about 3/10 of the top 10 draft picks each year do anything. Maybe even less.

I agree with the original comment here on the fact that until you see the players in action and on the field in the AFL for yourself, you can't take the word of their own clubs or their own recruiters. GCS have been a mediocre club for the better part of a decade and are finally going somewhere in part because of their top picks coming through.
I think that you are correct. And Gulden was an academy pick, so went lower than he should have. I would say that Perkins, McDonald, Henry and even Powell are progessing ok. We have to remember that it was the Covid-19 season, so the usual talent identification methods were short circuited. I do wish, however, that North Melbourne had picked up Logan McDonald that year.

One tall gets injured and you still bring in another tall to have 5 key positions ahead of defence. No way you can play team defence with that structure. Weak teams are more likely go with 3 key positions ahead of defence to offset lack of run. Mmmm.......tanking.
