I have MAD respect for Mazda: the only Japanese manufacturer to have won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for 25years! So yeah, funny-girl Dana is officially my favourite...lol.

@@RetroCarsForever literally the best car I’ve ever owned. I have had it almost 3 years and still have not had a single problem at all. Literally nothing wrong. Just the usual oil changes. That skyactiv technology works pretty good

I am not a crossover guy at all, not even a SUV or Sedan guy (Despite Toyota Tundra, VW Toureg V8, Toyota Land Cruiser true off-roading monsters great at carrying large dogs, pulling boat etc. purpose vehicles) but CX-5 Looks good. All Mazda cars l those especially made during the recent years looks way better than their price range. I admire this brand because they spend so much effort to make their cars looks good, make a good interior and build quality, efficiency, reliability etc. Not fast cars but performance still great compare to their competitions. Their prices are quite good too. However, I cannot imagine new MX-5 with much longer wheel base (Something like Corvette long) with a High revving V6 .Something like RX-7 fast and hot but with no bloody Rotary engine.

Agreed, I have huge respect for Mazda. One of the few companies whose modern designs are consistently clean and attractive, inside and out...instead of the busy, angry, and blocky look that most modern cars seem to be afflicted with.

Heheh thanks...MOST of the cars featured in this "Women React" series are "Retro cars" (1980s-2000s), but I figured I had to sneak in a few more modern cars as "baselines" for the test.

By my math, for the Viper to get first place, the Ranger would have to get last; and vice versa. They'll probably both fall in the middle, so that info is not very useful. But once the Viper gets ranked we you can easily figure out what the Ranger will get.

That's true! Those with calculators who were keeping tabs on ALL the women's scores will be able to figure out the final scoring by the 9th episode. BUT...I'm gonna assume most people arent gonna do that. I will ONLY say right now that one of those two cars will land on an EXTREME ranking!

@@RetroCarsForever I can't stand them in general. I certainly have some exceptions such as the Porsche Cayenne with a stick shift. There is certainly a time and a place for them though. We have an old 1st gen Forester with a stick shift that we got for $1,800 cause we didn't want our dog to screw up our other cars and couldn't find a good manual non-fwd wagon for dirt cheap. My wife's daily is a 2012 G37s Sedan with a 6MT. We have kids so we needed 4 doors and that's what she chose at the time. We'd love to get a CTS-V, but the manuals are still super expensive. She was cringing super hard at the Civic episode too. She's certainly a bit of an enthusiast. We'll probably end up replacing the Subaru with a Wrangler in the next year or two, and eventually when the kids are older she really wants a Viper.

@@alexpettit3265 you wouldn’t talk to much trash when you see the purpose of a suv like this. I needed a suv for my work. Can’t fit my tools in a car. But I still wanted a car. The CX-5 provides the rear cargo space of a suv, yet drives like a car. It still has nice styling. With car level mpg(also a perk for my work traveling). It’s everything I need in one package. Think outside the box on why some people can get great use out of these. Sure I could have gotten a truck. But it’s a lot more money with horrible handling and a lot less mpg, and also not much style. I could go on. My CX-5 has literally been perfect for over two years. Not a single problem.

@@RetroCarsForever My expectations WERE funny/honest/insightful reactions to a pretty extreme/crazy car and that I was going to be satisfied. I am just saying all these episodes are solid 10s, NOW I am expecting a 13 by all the promotion... No worries... no stress. My basic expectation is now that someone is going to go full "Housewives" and storm off... that it will be revealed that the CX-5 really was Jenny's and that guy claiming it was his was really just the porter at her local Mazda dealer... and the man in the mustache is not really you, but your evil twin Kyle.

BTW Dana, your old RAV4 was basically the FIRST crossover! When they first came out in the 90s everyone was super baffled by it..."Wait, it's an SUV, but it's based off a CAR platform? Whos gonna buy THIS weird thing?" Everyone. The answer was EVERYONE.

Neither did I! But makes total sense. This car (and crossovers in general) is like the "jack of all trades, master of none", so it seemed to garner the most consistent comments amongst the women.

I feel like you should’ve done the same colors (and maybe year) for all the cars. Otherwise you’re not correcting for other variables that may be impacting the women’s perception

I actually thought about that. But figured different colors would give us an idea of what colors women liked or didn’t like in general. Besides, some cars just don’t look as good in certain colors as others. Like a black Jeep probably doesn’t look as good as a black BMW. So there would be that variable to contend with as well.

@@jopoveromo1054 well I own a CX5. For many reasons which I won’t explain because I can tell your the type that won’t get it or care. But new Mazda’s are very nice and extremely reliable. But besides that, a RX-7 would be a fun toy and it’s a iconic car model.

@@corvettemode1556 I do care i am interested to know, I wouldn’t because I buy cars for specific purposes, a fast car, a faster car, a daily driver, an in town weekend car, a weekend car, a truck for carrying large items, a people hauler, ect. This Mazda doesn’t seem to fit in any of those categories, it’s not the fastest, it’s not the most luxurious, it’s not the most comfortable, usually you need an older car for comfort, with couch like seats and pillow suspension, I just can’t see how I would use this car, it would sit in my yard and fall apart.

Only 10 women???? What a great sample size you got there... not. 😑 Maybe if you asked 100 women then your "experiment" would at least have some very reed-like legs to stand on. You'd need at least a sample size of 10,000 for your social experiment to be any sort of solid proof of findings.

This was something I thought long and hard about. Eventually I realized 10 was the simply the most I could realistically handle, and the most I think an audience following the entire series could "get to know" them all. Keep in mind each woman took about 4 hours to film for the entire series, so that was a full 40 hr work week just to film them all , and another 40 hr full work week just to log the footage. And then many more months of editing it all together, which gets much more complicated the more women there are. I still think 10 is enough to get an IDEA of how non-enthusiast single women think. As for an audience "knowing" the women, showing any more 10 women and the audience is not going to get any sense of their personality. There's a reason most "React" videos stick to 10 people or less (or why a reality show like "Alone" does the same).

I wouldn’t call them clueless. But i did specifically find women who weren’t car enthusiasts to get a candid look at what non enthusiasts think of cars (because the majority of them are not enthusiasts)

Well, watch the video, see what the ladies thought of it...I asked them specifically what they thought of Mazda as a brand, had some very interesting insight.
