To keep rain and snow off my camera, I use a transparent frisbee. If you want it attached to your camera, use a cold shoe attached to a mini ballhead to vary the angle. Put sticky-backed velcro (furry side) on the top of the ballhead and use the loop side in a line from the centre of the frisbee to the edge so you can extend it further out for a longer lens.

That first one with the big hikes? I think an Olympus em5 III with a 12-45mm f4 zoom lens. Weather sealed, well stabilised, only 650 grams. You can get that kit for $1299 American right now. What if I bought a working Sony X3000, and I put them both in my spare bedroom for a week with some cat food and water? Re. blacks looking red-ish on the DJI Action, perhaps it's an IR pollution issue? This is what happens with BMPCC OG a lot, the tiny filter on the sensor cuts out very little IR and needs an external IR+UV circular filter in front of the lens.
As a Panasonic S1R user I wish they would upgrade the thing so bad. If they would just come up with a L mount camera with phase focus so I don't have to take 2-3 photos each time just to make sure I get the focus.
I don't obsess over new cameras because I want to fill a hole inside me but for the utility of the camera for allowing me to do the most that I can do with it. Of course, you can achieve 90% of what you wish to achieve with new cameras nowadays but the feelings of inadequacy of that last 10% sometimes leaves you unfulfilled wih your work. I am like a 90% video person. I agree though that once you have an optimum setup of gear you should stop looking at new gear entirely and only focus only on shooting more. For photography though you don't need every new gear, covering a range of wide to super telephoto lenses and you are good to do everything.
I hold my tongue allot of times when I want to jump in with a Nikon recommendation since I know you've yet to play with a Z6. But, Nikon Z6 for good budget slow motion. 8bit 1080 120p, but full sensor readout. Over exposing slightly helps reduce artifacts, and highlights are recoverable. and Z6 over Sony A7III at basically half the price now. Someone send Casey a Z6 please. Not the best camera in the world, but after you hate the stock settings, and dive in for a bit, it would definitely be your B camera over the X-t4 given the current options. Trustworthy auto focus (which just got a big upgrade via fw) regardless of no flip out screen. Viltrox has good cheap options, but tamrons with ftz also play very nice.
Well.. I do want the latest and greatest, but I'm also happy with my little a6400 and soon a7iii. I could go for the 7iv, but do I really need it? I'd rather fork up the difference in lenses.
For the red cast on your jacket could it be an infra red problem? I had to get IR cut NDs for my BMPCC4K for the same reason. Along with the hotshoe umbrella idea maybe a line of glimmer glass spectacles just to to take the edge off.... everyone.
Sony FE50 1.8 is garbage but the regular APSC E 50 1.8 is everything the full frame one is not. I have both and was amazed how much more the full frame one sucked than the APSC - and the APSC version launched all the back in 2010 with the NEX-3.
That's something I hate in almost all modern camera / photography / gear channels. Everybody gasps about every feature, every minute upgrade, every smallest evolution of gear, building GAS and FOMO in their audience instead of telling them that STYLE is more important than gear. People keep saving money to spend on the latest and greatest of cameras and they don't think about the things they actually want to achieve with the new gear. I've learned the hard way getting into debt because I had GAS for many years. None of the new cameras actually excites me and I think the last actual revolution we had was in 2013 when Sony introduced a mirrorless full frame camera. Since then it's just been more features, but no actual revolution in imaging. I finally upgraded from a Sony A7 to A7II about 2 years ago and I still don't see a viable upgrade in any of the manufacturers' portfolios. Unless someone comes up with a modest megapixel count mirrorless full frame medium format camera, but I don't think that's going to happen.
HELP. I have an old Canon EOS Rebel XT. It doesn't take video, so I use my iPhone 8 for that. I want to upgrade to a new camera that takes video but can't spend more than $1200. What camera should I get?? I'd like to stick with Canon, but open to other brands.
i'm in the same boat as your "car channel guy" i have a car channel with 30k subs. I use the Sony a6600 (stablized compared to his 6500) with the 10-18, it looks okay. But you're complaining about shakyness mr canada. I just bought the Zhiyun Crane M3 Handheld 3-Axis Stabilizer. But we also use a Gopro if we are walking around. So the Sony is better when you have to really focus and get good B roll. Anyway, you need to review the Crane M3 mr. canada camera guy

Question for your next video: why a speed booster would give an extra stop of light to an apsc sensor. And when you use a full frame lens on apsc sensor you don't get the same? I feel that the crop sensor toneh is a lie . Because the lumix 25mm t1.7 .is technically t 3.4 .but there is no way that is the case. Because this lense would give you the toneh

Kacey, Caleb just did a video today rating cameras. It's okay. But at the end I posted these comments on some of the content. I wonder if you have anything else to add, subtract, staple, collate, or bend. Caleb, I always LOVE your videos...which doesn't mean I agree in all points. Here's the specifics on this video. NOTE: My perspective is exclusively hand held, run and gun video shooting. Sony---IBIS. It's always going to be the bottom of the barrel. IT SUCKS! Why? The E mount. Its too small in diameter. Plus, colors are still weird. S-log SUCKS to grade---and that's being kind. Fuji: UNDER RANKED. Why? Ultra to shoot--a joy to use---- MUCH better IBIS than Sony. Beautiful colors and image. fabulous system of buttons for programming capabilities. The best Peaking capabilities---industry leading. The ability to move the focus box while shooting in MF, punch in, and manual focus with the blown up punched in image, stop recording, and then review a difficult focus pull done easily and perfectly FIRST TRY---no other of these cameras--not even the video oriented Panasonic---has this of other killer VIDEOCENTRIC capabilities. How about AWB-LOCK??? Great for run and gun. No one else has it. I could go on and on about fuji's superiority for hand held video. Plus, their AF is better than you imply. And the Fuji with the rokinon X mount lenses made for Fuji are fantastic, light, have creamy focus rings, . Even I, a poor musician, can make them look great. Canon sucks---let me count the ways...do numbers go that high.??? No. So, the worst thing about Canon is the front office people. They do selfish, rotten things to their customer---out of their greed. FIRE THEM ALL. Just one of MANY examples: R6---great on many levels. But usability is terrible.You want to white balance? Just as of old, prepare to get into photo to set your new white balance FOR VIDEO. (Oops. You just missed your shot). THAT is cruel. You want direct WB? How about buying our C300 Mk III. It's only 6.5 thousand bucks more?---we know you've got it. You want TV mode, like you have in the EOS R? Sorry. You'll need to buy the R5---hey, it's only a couple of thou more! Or, you could just go back to shooting TV in severely cropped 4k on the R. How different is that then just spitting in your customer's faces???? I don't buy from companies that openly and brazenly abuse and disrespect their loyal customers. Nikon---chief MORONS. Beautiful image, dynamic range---great, colors---arguably better than Canon, peaking is...decent . THAT, IMO, should always be a primary consideration because you're shooting VIDEO FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE. Peaking is so insignificant you don't mention it? Is your vision of a great video camera little more than using a glorified point-and-shoot? Have video people become that LAZY? Learn to pull focus and get cinematic results that are still not possible on today's mirrorless Af system---and do it spontaneously, without consulting the menu of the camera and programming the focus pull. (and people call themselves "videographers!" But, Nikon---why still no punch in, even on the Z6II, and you still can't use BOTH peaking and zebras at the same time. Choose grasshopper---either get proper exposure, or proper focus, but not both simultaneously. WHAT COULD THEY BE THINKING?!? I agree with you here 100%: LET IT ALL HANG OUT, NIKON. YOU"VE GOT NOTHING TO LOSE---NOTHING. Finally, Panasonic. I despise them, perhaps the most. AF sucks---that's fine with me, but where is the refined Peaking of the Fuji? Fuji's peaking is the 8th wonder of the camera world. Just copy them---even to the point of NOT using primary colors for the peaking colors. Where's your punch in while recording shooting MF? Come on. And you're video centric!? But the WORST is taking what is already mediocre peaking in MF, and crippling it in video---and making bad, inferior EVFs and LCDs. Example; the S1. A great camera I'd still be using for video. Peaking is decent. Acquiring focus is reasonably easy with peaking. But the second you hit record peaking vanishes like a Meth dealer at the annual Policemen's Christmas party. In other words, you are rendered COMPLETELY incapable of pulling focus once you hit record. Oh, you want that capability? Well, just buy the S1H---it's only a few THOUSAND dollars more! How many times have I heard that before? Or, you could have slightly better peaking in the S5-----but the EVF is tougher to read. You see, we just couldn't bring ourselves to make an EVF as good as the G9 for the S5. Nope, you want a great EVF? You're going to have to pay less for it (G9)...or more (S1H). But you can't have it on the S5!! But we'll burn in Hell before we'll give you what you actually want in the camera you actually want. So, go to the S1H, right? No??? Why? IT's TOO heavy for what I do...the S5 was perfect. Go to it then. But the peaking and EVF suck and are difficult to see. Then go to the S1H! What is this? I thought I was coming into a camera shop, but apparently I've stumbled into a Kafka short story. These are NOT camera companies. They're all ripping us off, crippling their cameras, and are all Kafkaesque constructs in Camera twilight zone. Their collective goal? Abuse video shooters and drive them as mad as the camera companies policies. Now, if that is their goal they're the gold standard. For that they get an A+ rating. Has anyone given the people who run these monstrosities blood tests? Are they aliens?
I do regret going sony if I am honest... I think anyways... Handheld vids are rough to watch on bigger screens when I review them. Wish there was a great zoom camera that had decent stability 👀👃💪📷 💩💨
Using a samsung s20 to walk and video, not myself but surroundings. Would like to be able to zoom a little on wildlife so good stabe needed. No other camera and a budget of £1000, thinking Fuji x-s10 with kit lens? What would you recommend if not the Fuji. Cheers.
*Would you recommend the Sony A7IV for a first camera?* I’m looking at making RU-vid videos (talking at my desk mostly), Zoom calls, and general social media. Quality is something controllable, and everyone’s quality is improving. I think the A7IV will hold quality for a longer time (ie more than 5 years). If I’m spending $2000+ AUD I would rather spend the extra $1900 and get a much longer life, and some additional improvements for a first camera. I would be using Davinci Resolve free studio. Likely either a Sony camera mic, or a Shure Mv7 for a USB mic. Likely looking at the 20mm f 1.8 lens. Maybe a 24mm.
if that's your first camera, then i say you have been hyped by consumerism thinking that you need that quality for future proofing. grab a canon m50, or sony zve10 or fuji xt4 as your first camera. no need to burn your money away
