This is a geat topic! Over the years, I struggled with this question, especially earlier on in my spiritual journey. I actually have a working altar; however, in time I realized that I am the altar. Learning this also made me less critical of myself when I found my altar hard to maintain. Many of us are so influenced by what we think things should be/look like, which is often based on false images and/or teachings. It's such a blessing (especially for black people) when folks who are doing the work, teach those who are seeking the knowledge. Everything you said was spot on. Nature has everything we need. Work with the elements. A glass of (water), candle burning (fire), incense going (air) are enough to set up an altar at any moment. Even meditation, getting into a routine of stillness, or praying consistently is enough. Keeping your practice simple leads to manageable rituals and a lasting connection with your ancestors.
last night i was literally researching how to communicate with the ancestors and how to connect with them without a altar….i wake up and this is the first video i see in my subscription feed 🙏🏾 thank you
