Ok this guy places a chip on his cards when he has a made hand 93% of the time. Nailed it! Now we just gotta figure out the other 7,999,999,999 people.

What do you think of Joe Navaro? But maybe most of the tells expesses only if a person is nervous? so it can be a very good hand or even a bad one....

Im sorry but very rarely are you going to see a player place the chip on his cards AND see his hand enough to know whether his hand is strong or weak. Tells are more reliable in the form of betting patterns and positional betting. Physical tells are hardly ever reliable and very more rarely useful.

I strongly suggest you watch all the videos on tells in this channel or checkout www.beyondtells.com/workshop they are way way more powerful then that

@jeffreyjewell75

This won’t work when people hit and run every table they are at. As soon as you feel like you know what their tell is then they run away with the money they donk off on you.

For someone so obsessed by specificity of language you seem to use the word marginal a lot and as if it only means moderately good. All it actually means is at the edge. A hand can be marginally good (say J's when the the board hasn't paired and the highest card on it is a 10 with no draws) or marginally bad (the same hand but now there's a Q out there). "Marginal" as an adjective is nonspecific and needs a qualifying adjective to give it specific meaning. The same hand with no over cards or draws could actually be described as "good", and draws and over cards would demote it to marginal status. A's when you flop a set is a killer hand, not much marginal about that, and 7-2off when a rainbow broadway draw flops is air, but unlike "killer" and "air", "marginal" is very vague. I only mention this because, as I said, you seem to put a lot of store in attention to detail when describing the manner of a given action, but repeatedly use "marginal" and leave it unqualified and open to interpretation.
@SchoolofCards
@SchoolofCards 7 лет назад
I extensively went over this exact point in this video, but then cut it out because it was too long. This is one of the reasons that I don't even post these type of videos anymore because the language gets completely lost. I am a strong advocate for not using terminology that doesn't account for the relative nature of that situation. We very clearly define what is marginal for this player in another video, and sorry I left that out. In summary. I agree 100%

Damn it, and I try making an effort to put my chip over my cards every time I'm in the hand or when I check my hand out of turn preflop. I guess the takeaway is that this probably still limits the amount of information leaked, but not to a truly observant player.
@SchoolofCards
@SchoolofCards 9 лет назад
Yea if you watch closely that often leads to some information. In some players it is so reliable its actually a little scary

SchoolofCards problem with tells is, You still need to find out the level of the water..IF I'm a Bad player i may think ANY suited hand is the same as aces As we know Mat wise suited is about 3% better the Unsuited SO if i over play suited cards, i will react like i have aces when i only have 45 suited or 2\k suited ..But you do talk about this

SchoolofCards I know Online poker is pretty much gone the way of the DOE DOE But i find even online poker has tells ..A combo of timing, chatting and bet size tells of each street

naihanchin Kempo yea for sure. ll cover this pretty extensively in later videos. The interesting this is you can use behaviors to really help you determine your opponents level and then go from there. we call it. Establishing a Base Stack. Ill cover this a bit more later

what you are saying is all just guess work. you are just guessing at things. you might look at how i put my chips in the middle. sometimes i stack them really neatly in a nice tall pile. sometimes i like to throw them out so they slide to create a nice row of slid chips cuz i think it looks cool and i'm entertaining myself. it has nothing to do with my hole cards. but you are going to tell me that how i put my chips in means something , when it s actually for my own entertainment and it means nothing . i ignore players after i make a bet. i dont make eye contact. i relax and look around the room or here or there. you are going to say that means something. no it doesnt. i do it when i have pocket aces or kings. i do it when i have 78 . i will agree that there are tells people do and dont know they do it. but to much emphasis is trying to be put on meaningless things. maybe if i scratch my head i have dry scalp but you are going to think it's cuz im weak. then i show pocket kings with a king on the flop. way to read me while i rake in your chips.
@Timmevds
@Timmevds 7 лет назад
all true what you're saying all though the thing with tells is that you will start to make some moves every time with a certain type of hand and you will not be aware of it. I had a friend of mine who would look at me every time he was bluffing and he would stare at the table every time he was value betting. But he had no idea that he actually did this, he thought he was just doing random stuff. So while most things you do will be completely random there's probably something that you'll do most of the time with a certain type of hand.
@chrismartin3618
@chrismartin3618 7 лет назад
i see your point and its a very good one. you ever tell your buddy he did that? i but he was also not consciously doing it. he didnt know he was doing it because he was thinking about it. i think about it every time im in a hand.
@Timmevds
@Timmevds 7 лет назад
Chris Martin yea i told him at the end of the night and he was completely unaware that he did it. and now he's aware that he naturally does that so he's doing it less and less

There is an _essential_ statistic that is not even mentioned here: How often does he have a marginal hand when he does _not_ place a chip on the cards? Without knowing that, the rest is meaningless.
@robsalvv5853
@robsalvv5853 5 лет назад
JiveDadson yo, the stat was WHEN he places a chip on his hole cards he has a marginal hand X% of the time. X was pretty high. How is that not meaningful?
@paulpena5040
@paulpena5040 Год назад
@@robsalvv5853 No, he's right. You HAVE to know the percentage of times he does NOT place a chip. Otherwise he could just be the kind of player who nearly always places a chip on his cards regardless of whether it's weak or strong. And in that case, yeah, 93 % of the time he could be placing a chip on a marginal made hand and it signifies nothing.

Sounds like he's trying to sound like a genius while explaining the obvious....might sound like a tip for beginners but then again, they probably wouldn't even understand what your say by using philosophical lingo and go trying to explain how placing a chip on cards is the same way you would explain how the earth was made.....haha, there are better tells other than how opponents place their chips on their cards.......I do it from time and time because im sitting next to the dealer and don't want it to get accidentally mucked.
