Making hard-boiled eggs is absurdly simple- all you need is boiling water. But, is it possible there is a machine out there that makes it even more simple? Only Cliff will tell. Can the rapid egg cooker speed up the hard boiled eggs process or make ramen eggs perfect every time?

When I was in the Army and lived In the barracks, I was not “allowed” to have a hot plate and my only sink was in the bathroom. Not a fan of washing dishes in there. My electric egg cooker was one of my prized possessions, and it worked perfectly every time. Many of my buddies ended up getting one as well because it was so nice to have fresh cooked eggs without having to go to the dining facility. PS. The model I had didn’t have an audible alarm; it simply shut off and so the light went out when done.

If you're a college student who isn't super concerned with a perfectly cooked soft egg or are willing to pull early, it could be really great. You have to consider that for $20 you can circumvent not having a stove or pots and pans. It's even smaller than a microwave, and possibly better at boiling eggs than any sort of microwave solution. For that, it's a great deal. For me, a stove owner and master egg boiler, I'll have to pass, but definitely don't discount it outright.

you can get these for way less. Just got a new one last year for 5 bucks. And the usual price is about 10. And also it will save a lot of Water and Energy. And you just have to test it first. Many things change how the egg ends up. Was the Egg cold or warm? How many eggs did you cook? How much water did you use? stuff like that or even where you live can change how to boil an egg. More eggs need less water. And less Water makes softer eggs. These usualy come with a measuring Cup that have some indication for how much water you need to put in. And after a few trys you will see if you need more or less than that.

They're quite popular in Germany. I think it's because it cooks your eggs perfectly by itself, while you're doing other stuff in the morning.

Some of the egg cookers have other "grill additions to use, so you can use it as a steamer. Vegetables, omeletes, etc etc Mine does, which I got for $8, but the portions are small.

Of course the soft boiled egg in the rapid cooker wouldn’t turn out right. You guys used a result based you’re specified time. My mom bought one these last year and not once has it failed me on a soft boiled egg. Use the amount specified by the measurement tool and it will give you a perfect. This test was misleading and did not throughly highlight the capabilities of the gadget

These cookers don't go by time. You put in the correct amount of water, which depends both on soft or hard eggs, and the number of eggs. When all of it has evaporated, it tells you the eggs are done.
@igorface09
@igorface09 6 лет назад
The amount of water determines the time. He never said he didn't use the recommended amount, only advised people to take em out a bit sooner than recommended, since he thought that tge recommended amount of water for a soft-boiled egg led to overcooking.

@retroprogamer7009
@retroprogamer7009 6 лет назад
less water makes softer eggs. The timer goes off when there is no more water left. And it can make a perfect soft boiled egg. You just need to know how much water you need. And consider stuff like which temperature your eggs are when you put them in and how many you cooked. You need to test it a little. If they get to hard just use less water next time.

I bought the "copper chef" version of the egg cooker and LOVE it, only $15 at Walmart, looks very similar in design to the one in this video but no alarm. The way this thing works is that when the water is all boiled away, it automatically shuts off. I only want hard boiled, but if you want soft boiled, the trick would be to experiment with the amount of water used, to get your version of perfect. I used to have a real problem shelling the eggs, and always lost chunks of white when peeling. Now I never lose anything, here's how: To shell the egg, I first put the eggs into cold tap water, and then take one out and lightly whack the side with the hole punched on the counter top, and then continue whacking the shell in a circular spiral, moving down towards the bottom, and then whack the bottom, so the eggshell is all broken up, but still intact. Then I hold the egg between both palms and roll my hands around with a light inward pressure. After a few rotations, the inner membrane will tear and the shell will start to slide off intact, like a used garment. I drop it back in the water and repeat this for all the eggs. Then I separate the eggs from the broken shells under water, which helps to wash all the shell bits off. I pour off the water, then dump (or compost) the eggshells. There is ANOTHER ADVANTAGE in using this handy device. It uses very little electricity to do this, whereas the heating element on the stove to boil water in a pot uses a lot more electric energy to do the very same job.

Making boiled eggs in a pot is even quicker if you just use less water so that they're half-immersed. Not only does the water reach boiling point quicker, but the steam that gets produced cooks them quicker than pure water. I get hard boiled eggs in 10 minutes. Factor in the quicker boil time (around 1-2 minutes) and it's an even quicker method.

Yes, it's a unitasker. Yet, we do boil water every single day, for coffee, tea, rice, etc. Unless you have an induction stove, your kettle is the fastest way to do it. Thus, it's probably the most useful unitasker in the world.

You can also do omelets and poached eggs and steam some meats and veggies. They also have a musical alarm now. Great bang for your buck if you eat a lot of eggs. Also if cooking for 1 or 2.

I won one of my these egg cookers at a fundraiser, to be fair I never would've bought it out right. But I absolutely love it and use it all the time. I find that the eggs peel much easier probably because of the little hole you put in. Also it's good if you're multitasking in the kitchen because it doesn't take up a burner, and you can set it and walk away and it will turn itself off (my version doesn't have the buzzer but will automatically shut off when the water is gone so the eggs don't over cook) I find it very convenient and I love to use it to make extra hard boiled eggs for salads and stuff without having to stand there and watch pot. If you're someone that likes hard boiled eggs definitely get one!

Ok this is a GREAT Video. Well done! You have a new subscriber. Every bit of info I needed, no stupid behavior or arrogance, just great. The alarm would be a deal breaker for me. Frankly, I like the more creamy soft boiled egg, I do not consider that runny egg a soft boiled egg. One other thing, that pan with the broken eggs is going to be a pain to clean. Also, I think (and this is the reason I want one) I could set up the egg cooker the night before, like I do my coffee, and then press the button in the morning and have my soft boiled eggs. (I am not a morning person). Anyway, awesome job.

@raywhite7179
@raywhite7179 6 лет назад
Tj Pizzo - That's a myth. All foods that are cooks lose nutrients. You're cooking the food so it's easier for your body to absorb, thus you are inherently destroying the nutrients of that cooked item across the board in whatever manner you're using. However, the factor that seems to make the factor in this is the length of cooking time. So food cooked or stewed all day has lost a lot of nutrients. Microwaves cook food much faster, thus you actually lose less. There's no risk of cancer from it and only a couple studies have suggested that amino acids/b12 *might* slightly move into their inactive state but that shouldn't be a problem if you aren't eating *everything* from the microwave. No one's going to drop dead of cancer for cooking eggs in the microwave.

You do want to get a lid to go over your stock pot to keep water from evaporating. I've used it for 6-48 hours with lots of luck. A lot is trial and error to figure out since thickness and cut help determine the best time. 135 always gives a perfect med (pink all the way through). I cooked frozen solid 3 1/2" roast for 48 hours ... it was so tender its almost falling apart. Nice to put it in and just forget about it, with silicone lid I didn't have to add water at all during 48 hours.

This is great. It is amazing to live in modern times. I have one with 9 in so I can stockpile and even share with people and plan for a picnic the next day. As I am really absent minded and busy, i would often 'leave the cooker on' and then I would go to work and worry if I have left something on. I like the fact it has a timer and you don't have to be hovering round it all the time, waiting for the water to boil. It is also great if you are in a flatsharing facility and you want to avoid the OCD flatmates and flatmates in general.As someone with social anxiety it is great. The one I have does omelettes and steams veg too. Also with energy rising, it maybe a lot cheaper? This will be really handy, I hope I don't break it. '#uk #london

We got one of these in a Amazon returns lot and I love it! Best part about it, you don’t get that stank you get with the pot. It’s also way faster than waiting for the pot to heat up. It made perfect hard and soft boiled eggs and it didn’t take 16 min, more like 12 for hard. When I do them on the stove I let them boil for 2min then turn off the heat and let them sit 15-20 min, so way longer. Have yet to try poached. Now of course if you need to make a ton, you’re going to want to use your pot. Also, put your eggs in the pot first then add water to heat. Don’t drop them into boiling water.

We use a similar one at work for eggs in the morning. It works fantastic. Superior to boiling them.

Don't use this video to judge this machine. I'm watching videos on it because I want to try the poached tray but I've used my machine ($7 on clearance) for 3 years to make perfect "boiled" eggs consistently. He didn't use the egg cooker properly. Period. You use the little cup to measure the water and he didn't use the right amount of water. He was biased from the start.

I love my rapid egg cooker, I use it all the time and I am a middle aged good cook. I can set and walk away till the alarm says turn it off. To get a runny boiled egg, you use less water if you are using less then 6 eggs. It also has trays to make poached eggs and omelettes. Set it, get dressed, eggs are done while you do something else.

The pin might be useful, alleviate pressure from expansion as it heats. I can get a push pin for practically free, so it’s not that useful.

You have to consider the temperature of the eggs for the rapid egg cooker, especially in the poaching mode. If you use cold eggs, you'll likely end up too soft. Anything beyond hard boiled requires just a little more attention.

The amount of water you add to the egg cooker determines how long it cooks for. Add less water to cook less time, to taste. If you really like soft-boiled eggs, then it wouldn't take too many attempts to dial it in.

My neighbor has one of these. I tried it for soft-boiled. I used the machine, not a timer like the video. My eggs came out way undercook and the whites very water and partially raw. I'm not impressed for soft-boiled. But for hard-boiled it's great

Andy M I have one and after the first try I realized I just needed to go a little over the measurement of water to give it more cooking time 👌

1.Put water and eggs into the pot, water should cover eggs. 2.Cover. 3.Start the heat. 4.When water starts to boil, count 8,5 minutes 5.Cool it under the cold water

To change the hardness on the automatic, simply add or subtract a little water. No timer needed.

Just add a bit less water than suggested for the soft boil egg. The machine will go off a bit earlier. The key thing for the machine is you can set it and forget it til it's done. No watching the pot for water to boil and you could do other things in the meantime.

Put less water for the soft boiled! Eggcooker is a huge time saver. You put the eggs and press the button and you're done. No water, no waiting for boil, no need to stand over it and watch for spills etc. It's fire and forget. I dont even poke them. Then it's done and you turn it off. I bought mine for 9 bucks. It holds 7 eggs and Ive cooked hundreds so far.

Put the eggs in the water before turning on heat, bring to boil then turn off heat. The machine, though is a lot more convenient - no timing, takes up less space, no stove needed, etc. Results the same - boiled eggs.

what is the point of this series if he always decides the basic one!
@commentcopbadge6665
@commentcopbadge6665 6 лет назад
He decides, yes. However he also demonstrates for the viewer to decide also. It's not a contest on which one wins. In fact the contest thing is just for fun. It's actually a side by side comparison. So that's one point for this series. Another point is to show how useless and waste of money it is to spend extra money, effort and storage space on these uni-tasker products. *(I can't believe I have to explain this)*

CommentCop Badge#666 you do realise some of these gadgets can help people with disabilities and college students without stoves
@commentcopbadge6665
@commentcopbadge6665 6 лет назад
TheRealOmega I am physically disabled since the age of two. I was a university student that lived in a dorm 16 years ago. So I guess my opinion on these type of products is pretty valid. Whatever. I spent about $40 on an electric burner and an 9 inch wok with a lid that I used throughout my first 3 years I lived in the dorm. Just saying.......
@cannonfodder15
@cannonfodder15 6 лет назад
exactly! so he should take that into account as well!
@commentcopbadge6665
@commentcopbadge6665 6 лет назад
Why should he take into account the students and disabled? That's just arguing semantics. There's also different levels of disabilities. Should he consider every single one of them too? there are diffrent types of students living arrangements. How is he supposed to account those? He's not a spokesperson for the product. He's not trying to sell it to anybody. All he does is tests the product according to it's manufacturers instructions and gives his own personal views and opinion. That's it. Oh and maybe crack some jokes here and there for entertainment. So it's up to the viewer to decide at the end. You don't have to do what a person in a YT video says, you know. It's okay to decide for yourself. Geez.

As long as you have method, its super easy to cook perfect eggs on stove. Havent eaten egga for long while, but my method for medium egg was to fill pan with cold water, dropp eggs in and let it come to boil. After 5min of boil it should be done.

@tonysanderson7741

I was actually under the same impression why spend 20 bucks on a rapid egg boiler, but in reality it has worked out better than i expected. I can drop and go then remind by that buzzer of hell that my eggs are ready, opposed to having to wait for the water to boil then drop the eggs in , then keep checking hoping the water hasn't boiled over or forgetting about it, then and ofc the cleaning of the pan afterwards. additionaly I can do poached and Omelets in my rapid 3 in 1egg boiler. So for 20 bucks I feel it's worth it. ofc it's not needed but it's a QOL gadget.
@a2daj
@a2daj 6 лет назад
Put a half inch of water in a small to medium pot. Turn it on high. When water is boiling put the eggs in and cover so you're basically steaming the eggs. You can do 1 to many eggs and it won't affect the time to cook. Timing for the eggs actually cooking will be similar to a boil but in total time it should be quicker than both the deep water pot and the egg maker. America's Test Kitchen did this a few years ago and it's been the way I boil eggs ever since.
